Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze students’ errors and the causes during speaking performance by twenty-nine fourth semester English students of in IKIP PGRI Pontianak who had low speaking performance. In collecting the data, video recordings were used to find errors and frequencies, while, focus group interview investigating factors of speaking errors. The data were analyzedby identifying the errors, grouping and tabulating into category codes. To analyze the interview, 1) listening to talking data, 2) shaping talking data, 3) communicating talking data with an interpretative intent, 4) reproducing or (re)constructing data, and building data credibility. The findings showed speaking errors with five categories: 28% of incorrect omissions, 26% of unnecessary words, 24% of misused forms, 19% of confused forms, and 3% of misplaced forms. Furthermore, other findings mostly included the causes of errors that influenced them in speaking were interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer, learning context, and communication strategies.

Abstract

New curriculum has been implemented by Indonesia government in an effort to improve quality of education in 2013. Curriculum 2013 is implemented only in grade I, IV, VII and Class X against 6,325 target schools. In 2014/2015 academic year Curriculum 2013 is applied to the class I, II, IV, IV, VII, VIII, IX and X in all schools in Indonesia. This study conducted in Sumenep district Madura Island as supported study to monitoring and evaluation of Curriculum in 2013 on assessment system in East Java province. The research method used is descriptive qualitative by using observation, interviews and questionnaires techniques. The results showed optimism and expectations from respondents consist of teachers, headmasters and students in curriculum 2013’s assessment system. The findings are expected to support decision-making by stakeholders and improve the implementation of Curriculum 2013.

Abstract

The application of online-based student admission aims to provide the widest possible opportunity for every citizen to obtain a fast, transparent and accountable registration service. The purpose of the research carried out at the State Senior High School 2 Singkawang (SMAN 2 Singkawang) was to describe the online-based prospective student admission planning at SMAN 2 Singkawang, organizing admissions based on online students at SMAN 2 Singkawang, the implementation of prospective participants online-based students at SMAN 2 Singkawang, online admission supervision of prospective students at SMAN 2 Singkawang, as well as an online evaluation of new student candidates at SMAN 2 Singkawang. The approach used in this study is qualitative research on the type of case study research. The results of the research that have been conducted include 1) Planning the recruitment process of online-based prospective students conducted by the agency and the school; 2) Organizing in the acceptance of new students through the division of committee work; 3) Implementation of new online-based student admissions is carried out in accordance with existing technical instructions; 4) Supervision carried out in new student admission activities is carried out by the principal as the head of the education unit and also as the person in charge of the activity; 5) On this online-based new student admission activity, it has run well. But there are those that are the main focus of supporting activities are the internet and electricity networks, so that these two facilities must be ensured in good condition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of learning English in Islamic boarding school Al-Junaidiyah Biru Bone. Using ethnographic methods. The results of the study show that (1) analyzing the needs and the environmental context in the formulation of learning objectives, (2) using 2 curriculum that is the curriculum of 2013 for general subjects and the curriculum of special pesantren religious subjects, (3) adjustment of learning materials with context, social function , text structure, and linguistic elements, (4) using approach (Contextual Teaching and Learning-CTL), (5) Educators, and learners have a mutually exciting learning role to be interesting and fun, (6) developed language environments such as the implementation of English flag ceremonies, sports competitions and the arts that use English in extracurricular activities. The conclusion of the effort to habituate the use of English and has four language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the achievement of MSS Basic Education, with a case study in the border area Entikong District of the district, followed by alternatives for achieving the standards in 2017 and prepare a strategy for its achievement. The method used in the study is the evaluation of research with the evaluation model inaccuracies or gaps (The Discrepancy Evaluation Model). This research subject is the Education Unit at the District Cabdikpora environment Entikong Sanggau consisting of principals and teachers, and Head Cabdikpora. The data used are primary and secondary data. The findings of these studies it is known that the availability of educational unit within an affordable than permanent settlement group; the number of students in each group learning for SD/MI does not exceed 32 people, while SMP/MTs exceeding 36, not available 1 (one) classrooms and there are not furnished with a table and chairs; each SMP/MTs provided a laboratory space science; Each Primary School/not available 1 (one) class teachers for each study group and for SMP/MTs unavailable teacher of Religious Education, Indonesian, Social Sciences, Arts, PE, and ICT; each SD/MI and SMP/MTs provided two (2) teachers who meet the academic qualifications S1 as much as 70%, but does not have a teaching certificate for the SD/MI; Chief of SD/MI has not qualified academic S-1 or D-IV and have a teaching certificate, already for SMP/MTs; curriculum development and innovative learning process is not implemented effectively; 50% SD/MI which has 100 titles enrichment and 10 reference books and each SMP/MTs 200 items of enrichment books and 20 reference books; 58.33% of permanent teachers work 35 hours per week in the education unit; 66.66% educational unit organized a learning process for 34 weeks per year; 66.66% The principal supervising lessons and provide feedback to teachers twice each semester.

Abstract

Writing is the most difficult skill for second language learners. It can be seen, for example, they always make ageneralization, simplification, less of knowing vocabularies, punctuation, spelling,  and grammar. This paper will describe improving the students’ writing competence in second language acquisition through the implementation of lesson study in faculty of language education of Indraprasta PGRI University of Jakarta. This research uses qualitative approach and the data taken from the students who are studying writing in the class. In applying lesson study, lecturer model explains  about the materials based on the syllabus of the subject.  The students are also given tasks in their groups. The observers watch and write about the students and assist them. After doing this, the observers discuss about the class with the lecturer model.  By doing the implementation of  Lesson Study, the students can work in group together, the class is so inspiring, they feel satisfied with the explanation of the lecturer model and  havegood impact to improve the students’ writing competence.

Abstract

This experimental study examines the effect of Schunk Model's attributional feedback to improve academic self-efficacy of elementary school underachievers and low achievers in mathematics. The hypothesis that student who receives an attributional feedback, either oral or written, both get higher scores on self-efficacy and mathematics achievement than control group was Examined. The elementary students' grade III and IV Whose mathematics Reviews their achievements were below average grade was Involved as a research subject. With the random procedure, the subjects were assigned to one of three groups: (1) oral attributional feedback, (2) written attributional feedback, (3) reinforcement feedback and (4) no treatment. Profile analysis indicates that oral feedback and reinforcement attributional more effective to increase of mathematics self-efficacy and students' achievement than written. Analysis of variance with Least Significant Difference indicates that students who receive either oral or written feedback attributional got higher scores on mathematics self-efficacy and achievement than the control group. Furthermore, factorial design analysis indicates that attributional feedback, either oral or written, was more effective than low achievers to underachievers.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the development of Augmented Reality-based learning media to increase motivation to learn computer assembly materials. This research is an research and development type. The population was ninth students of SMP Harapan Ananda Kubu Raya totaling 112 students. The sample was 68 students with proportional random sampling technique. Data Collection using a questionnaire. To test the hypothesis, one-tailed t-test was used. Data analysis was performed descriptively. The results showed that one-tailed t-test data is posttest questionnaire motivation experimental class and control sig 0.000 <α 0.05, so it can be concluded that the motivation to learn the experimental group was higher than the control group.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore, analyze and reveal the process of implementing local government policies in the effort to fulfill the infrastructure of the New School Unit of Junior High School in Singkawang City. The approach used in this study is qualitative with the type of descriptive research in the form of case studies. Planning the Planning Process of the Development Policy Implementation of the New School Unit of SMP Negeri 20 Singkawang is carried out by the agency and the school. The agency makes technical instructions for implementing new student admissions that refer to ministerial regulations. The involvement of various parties and the availability of supporting data is needed in the planning process of Singkawang Junior High School New School Unit Development. The results obtained from this study are (1) Planning of the Planning Process of the Development Policy Implementation of the NewSchool Unit of SMP Negeri 20 Singkawang carried out by the agency and the school; (2) The Implementation of Development Policy for the New School Unit of SMP Negeri 20 Singkawang is carried out in accordance with the existing technical guidelines; (3) The role of stakeholders in the implementation of local government policies in the effort to fulfill the infrastructure of the SMP Negeri 20 Singkawang New School Unit in Singkawang City, in accordance with the respective authorities and abilities; (4) Evaluation is carried out to see which stages or parts still need improvement.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of critical thinking skills of fourth grade students of SDN Tanjung III, Subang district. On the basis of the need for repairs done either by applying the model of SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectual). So the purpose of this study was to determine the increase critical thinking skills of students in Social Science before and after applying the model SAVI, the performance of teachers in applying the model SAVI, activities and students' response to the model SAVI. The method used in this research is the CAR (Classroom Action Research). Subject of research that fourth grade students of SDN Tanjung III by the number of students as many as 23 people. The instrument used was LKS (Student Worksheet), observation sheet of students and teachers as well as student questionnaire responses. From these results, it can be concluded that by applying the model in study SAVI social science with social problems in the local environment can enhance students' critical thinking skills. The result can be seen from the percentage of the overall level of mastery learning increased from 52.2% in the first cycle, 78.3% in the second cycle and 100% in the third cycle. The average grade class of students increased from 44.3 prasiklus of data with less criteria, up to the third cycle, which reached 91.3 with the criteria very well. With the improvement of students' critical thinking skills that are calculated based on the n-gain of 0.53 with the criteria of being in the first cycle, and 0.65 with the criteria of being on the second cycle, and 0.81 with the high criteria of the third cycle. The results of observations also showed that the ability of teachers and students' activity in applying the model of SAVI increased. Based on questionnaire responses, 100% of students showed interest in learning social science model with SAVI. Therefore, it is suggested that teachers use models SAVI  to enhance the critical thinking skills of students so that students used to learn to analyze problems well.
