Abstract

September 2018 is the deadline for an organization that has implemented an international standard quality management system ISO 9001: 2008 to switch the latest international standard ISO 9001: 2015. Telkom Institute of Technology Purwokerto is one of the organizations that have implemented the international standard ISO 9001: 2015 since early 2017 (Previously ISO 9001: 2008 implementation). The main objectives of the implementation of ISO 9001 are to improve customer satisfaction both external and internal, including students as the main user of the service organization as an external customer. Therefore, this organization needs to measure the level of student satisfaction with services provided by Telkom Institute of Technology Purwokerto after the organization is implementing ISO 9001: 2015. Data were collected using the questionnaire method consists of 24 questions that designed and analyzed by the SERVQUAL approach. Validity and reliability testing were done by using SPSS software and the measurement result of 24 question items stated Valid and Reliable. From the preliminary research, it was found that the institution should introduce ISO 9001: 2015 to the students at Telkom Institute of Technology Purwokerto. Using the SERVQUAL approach and analyzing GAP 5, comparing the expectations and perceptions of customers (students), the result is that organizations need to improve the speed of the service (academic/student affairs/staff) to students (GAP Value 1.11). In addition, institutions also need to increase the attention of students (GPA Value 1.06). Several efforts have been made with the construction of facilities such as a lecture building that continues to be implemented as well as changes in organizational structure to improve the quality of academic and non-academic services to students.

Abstract

This paper explores the efficiency of dispersing nano-silica particles in epoxy resin using zirconia ball media by mechanical stirring. Stirring speed (RPM), the time of milling and temperature are the main parameters studied at a fixed media: total silica-epoxy volume ratio. The results show that ball media and heating aid dispersion. The stir speed and duration affects the nano-silica dispersion, given that all the other conditions (zirconia ball media to nano-silica-epoxy ratio and intermittent heating) remain constant. At low stirring speed, short stirring duration is more suitable. On the reverse, higher stirring duration is the more suitable condition to disperse nano-silica at high stirring speed of 500 rpm. Keywords: Dispersing Nano-Silica Particles, Epoxy Resin, Zirconia Ball Media, Mechanical Stirring.

Abstract

The goal of the distribution system is to deliver the product promptly, quickly and generate the minimum cost. Therefore, the development of distribution system is very important because it can support the growth and development of the company. This study aims to get the route of delivery of the most appropriate and optimal products and get transportation cost savings. PT. IPM is a company engaged in the production of automotive. The problems faced by PT. IPM is the absence of good product distribution planning and scheduling distribution process is considered not maximal. This is due to the number of routes are too many, the distance is too far delivery, the limited means of conveyance and utilization of transport space less than the maximum and the high cost of transportation. To solve the problem of PT. IPM then needed the best method, that is Saving Matrix method which is used to determine product distribution route to the customer based on the capacity of conveyance used and Nearest Neighbors method for route ordering. From the result of mathematical calculation with Saving Matrix method and algorithm with Nearest Neighbors method obtained 49 best routes for PT. IPM. The distance to be taken is as far as 6,010 kilometers with transportation cost of Rp. 46,630,527. The resulting distance saving is 22% (1,690.9 km), while the transportation cost savings that occur is 38% or Rp. 28,494,021.

Abstract

Footwear industries get the priority in East Java Province because of their big contribution to the economy and labor absorption. In order to survive and to achieve the competitive advantage they need to do innovation. The innovation capabilities can be measured through Technological Innovation Capabilities (TIC), while the innovation performance can be assessed with Technological Innovation Performance (TIP). This research was conducted to identify SMEs characteristics (scale, age, and product type) and to analyze whether there were different impacts of those characteristics on TIC and TIP. Data collection was completed through questionnaire distribution to 192 footwear SMEs in three footwear center in East Java (Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Mojokerto). The grand mean of each dimension of TIC and TIP was obtained by calculating the results of questionnaire which used Likert scale. The grand mean can be as a description of TIC and TIP level in those three areas. For TIC, the majority footwear SMEs were on the medium and high level. The highest level of TIC was achieved by footwear SMEs in Mojokerto (4.09), Surabaya got a medium (3.18), and Sidoarjo obtained the lowest (2.81). For TIP, the majority of footwear SMEs had the medium and low level. Footwear SMEs in Sidoarjo held the highest level (3.05), then the footwear SMEs in Mojokerto (2.86), and the lowest is footwear SMEs in Surabaya (2.05). Based on the MANOVA analysis it can be recognized that almost all characteristics of footwear SMEs (scale, age, product type) gave no significant impacts on TIC and TIP. Except among footwear SMEs in Surabaya the age of SMEs had an effect on TIC and TIP.Keywords: Footwear SMEs, Innovation Capabilities, Innovation Performance

Abstract

Currently, bottled drinking water has become the main choice for Indonesians. The percentage of consumption of bottled drinking water by Indonesians in 2018 reached 36.28% and an increase in 2019 reached 38.25%. One package that is often used is gallon packaging. There are several problems that people find when opening the gallon lid. The results of initial interviews with the community indicated that there were several problems, including the high risk of injury to the hands if you opened the gallon lid using a knife and the hands hurt if you opened the gallon cap manually without tools. These problems can be overcome by developing a product for a gallon cap opener that is tailored to customer needs or voice of customer (VOC). The method used in this research is factor analysis. A large number of community necessities make the product development process difficult because of the many needs that must be met. The purpose of this study was to reduce the number of VOCs. The Kaiser Meyer Olkin (KMO) test was used to see the suitability of the data used in factor analysis, while Bartlett's test was used to determine the significant correlation on each indicator. The result of factor analysis shows that 12 customer needs can be reduced to 3 customer needs, namely affordable gallon cap opening price, adjustable gallon cap opener diameter, and multifunctional gallon lid opener.

Abstract

Problems that often happen is the charge that would like included in the container exceeds or is far less than the maximum volume of container space. In the case of the process of door to door or door to port, overloaded force clients should reduce the number of items that must be sent in order to fit with container capacity. While less than the maximum load that makes a lot of wasted container space volume that causes the client to fill it with stuff that does not exist in the delivery plan or let it remain fully charged with the costs of ineffective. The purpose of this field study is to maximize the use of volume of space in the container with the method of hill-climbing algorithm and utilize software programs created with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. Processing the data shows that during the delivery of goods, the utilization rate of container volume ranges from 44.185% to 72.630%. By using optimization calculation based on hill-climbing algorithm in the program made, the utilization rate of container volume can be optimized from the original 66.563% to 91.895% with an increase of 25.332%.Keywords: Supply Chain, Hill-Climbing Algorithm, Optimization
