Abstract

The fact that NU's involvement in politics is practically inevitable. For example, NU's involvement in political dynamics in the Mataraman Region of East Java, especially in the momentum of the 2020 regional elections. Political parties that drag Nahdlatul Ulama into practical political practices often 'disrupt' religious social work which is NU's vision. Also, differences in political preferences of the NU organizational elite often impact fragmentation within the NU itself. The background in this research is focused on the aim of revealing more deeply the relationship between the ideological goals and political practices of NU in the Mataraman region of East Java. This research includes qualitative field research using descriptive-analytical approach methods. The findings in this study show a fact about the relationship between NU's ideological goals and political practices in NU's involvement in the 2020 elections in Blitar and Pacitan regencies while still upholding ideological values, Khitthah NU 1926, and political guidelines for NU citizens, Where there is no biased practice in the practice of these values in the political dynamics of the 2020 election. In Ponorogo and Trenggalek regencies, there was a bias in the practice of the values of the 1926 NU Ideology and Khitthah, where the political dynamics of the election were colored by more real practical political practices and were driven by the individual interests of the NU elite and the primordial interests of each group which had an impact on institutional fragmentation.

Abstract

This study focuses on the growth and development of radicalism in the Lamongan Regency area and the forms and variants of co-religious conflicts in the Tuban Regency area. These two focuses do not intend to compare Lamongan and Tuban as study destinations but explore the two regions with different questions. The next focus is the da'wah model based on socio cultural capital in preventing radicalism and religious conflicts in Lamongan Regency and Tuban Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of grounded theory according to the stages of the type of research. Socio cultural capital is diverse and meaningful, stretching from the potential of natural resources, economy, culture, customs, arts, and religion. The results of the analysis show that the dominant factors that cause the growth of radical ideas in Lamongan Regency are limited religious knowledge and insight, mistakes in choosing teachers, low levels of economic welfare, provocation of online media, sectarianism, disappointment with social, political, economic and legal conditions, and weak government control over educational institutions and pesantren affiliated with radical groups. The form of religious conflict that occurred in Tuban Regency was a peaceful action, which is an action carried out by Muslims without violence in order to address sectarian and communal issues. The socio cultural capital of the Lamongan and Tuban communities has a diversity ranging from the potential of natural resources, economy, culture, customs, arts, and religion, giving birth to five da'wah models for preventing radicalism and religious conflicts. The five da'wah models in question are economic-based, institution-based, village-based mosques, pesantren, and based on local wisdom.

Using the mix-method, this study found that the religious tolerance index information was 3.61 or had a high category. The religious tolerance index is supported by a two-dimensional-based management model, namely regulation and institutional. The regulatory dimension refers to the 2006 Joint Regulation of the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Home Affairs, the 2020-2024 Ministry of Religion Strategic Plan, and the 2021-2026 Lombok Regency RPJMD. Recommended policy development models include; The regulatory dimension is guided by Presidential Regulation Number 58 of 2023, Regulation of the Minister of Religion Number 3 of 2024, and the Central Lombok Regency RPJPD 2025-2045. By referring to these regulations, the institution of tolerance management policy applies the hexa-helix model collaborative management approach, namely policies through the collaboration of six stakeholders which include: local governments; FKUB; the business world; NGOs / religious organizations; mass media; and universities. Local governments play a role in designing and developing policies, while other stakeholders play a supporting role in policy management.

Abstract

This study explores the complex identity negotiation of Javanese Muslims in Malaysia, focusing on their dual identity as both Javanese and Malay. Employing an ethnographic approach, the research examines how Malaysian Javanese navigate their cultural identity while integrating into the Malay society. The study reveals that Javanese descendants in Malaysia maintain their Javanese cultural identity, particularly in language and traditions, while simultaneously adapting to the Malay culture and fulfilling their obligations as Malaysian citizens. The process of identity reconstruction has led to the emergence of a hybrid identity, which is influenced by the interactions between Javanese and Malay cultures, as well as the prevailing policies, religion, and nationalism in Malaysia. The findings contribute to the understanding of identity construction and negotiation among diaspora communities in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Yayasan Arah Pemuda Indonesia organised a community empowerment activity with the theme pengabdi muda #5. Pengabdi Muda #5 has a series of activities that serve to optimise the capabilities of volunteers so that they have provisions in carrying out community empowerment. This research uses the learning outcomes capability theory from Robert Mills Gagne and the 7 stages of proposition proposed by Isbandi Rukminto Adi. The theory will dissect the process of developing volunteer capabilities at Arah Pemuda Indonesia Foundation. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and interviews. This study found that the series of community empowerment activities of youth service #5 can optimise volunteer capabilities. The implementation stage is the most important stage that can develop volunteer capabilities. Pengabdi Muda #5 activities are still limited in carrying out community empowerment because the stages of empowerment and capacity building are not optimal, but the awareness stage has been carried out and is a very good agent of change.

Abstract

This started with a large number of people in Kenep Village who complained of minor illnesses, plus lack of knowledge and lack of public awareness of health made the problem even more complex. Therefore, this research aims to provide an overview of community empowerment by developing Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) cadres to improve health in Kenep Village, Balen, and Bojonegoro. This research used a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation. The research focuses on community empowerment theory, which includes principles of equality, participation, sustainability, and self-reliance. The research results show that the development of TOGA cadres increases public knowledge and health awareness. Based on indicators of the ten most common diseases in 2021, 500 suffering from mild illnesses will decrease to 157 in 2022. This indicates a decrease in minor illnesses since the TOGA cadre empowerment program was implemented. Apart from that, the community also succeeded in innovating various processed products from TOGA, which can increase the selling value of the product. So, this community empowerment for TOGA cadres in Kenep Village is going well and beneficial for TOGA cadres, especially in terms of increasing knowledge, health, and welfare.
