Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia. Type 2 DM management is education, diet regulation, drug therapy, physical exercise, and routine check of BGC to prevent complications from improving the quality of life of patients. The study aimed to examine the effect of short messages on medication adherence and control of BGC values ??in type 2 DM patients. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design, pretest, and posttest with a non-equivalent control group that was applied in this study. The research was conducted at Bromo Medan Health Center. Samples were all type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who were controlled to Medan Bromo Puskesmas for 84 people who were divided into two groups, namely the intervention and control groups. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire. The test used was the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the short message was significantly (p <0.05), giving a compliant effect on the rules of taking medication and controlling the BGC value compared to patients with type 2 DM who did not send short messages. This study concludes that quick message delivery effectively improves medication adherence and controls BGC values ??to enhance the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes. This study recommended family members to remind for controlling blood glucose levels. An SMS reminder activity program also needs to conduct while implementing the plan. Keywords: short message, medication adherence, blood glucose concentrate, type 2 diabetes mellitus

A person infected with HIV/ AIDS has many things to deal with in their daily lives. Changes that occur within and outside of people living with HIV AIDS (PLWHA) create negative perceptions about themselves and affect their self-development. Nursing research on illness perception has been proven to be related to the outcome of one's treatment. This study used the concept of philosophical theory in nursing research. The critical theory ontologically was similar to post-positivism, which critically assesses objects or reality (critical realism) unnoticeable correctly by human observation. Epistemologically, critical theory was an inseparable relationship between the observer and reality. Therefore, this theory emphasizes the concept of subjectivity in finding a science. This theory perceives reality as an integral variable from the research subject. The values ??of the subject influence the truth of reality. Axiology was a study of the benefits ??on the purpose of the knowledge utilization that refers to the development and selection of the research field priorities and the implementation of knowledge utilization. People living with HIV / AIDS (PLWHA) are perceived negatively by both family and community. This negative judgment leads to the negative perception of PLWHA, which impacts on the inadequate treatment and worse condition of the patients. The negative perception of PLWHA towards their illness can be measured using qualitative methods with the focus group discussion (FGD) method or in-depth interview. PLWHA with a poor perception of the disease can change their perspective to be more positive and can be cooperative in conducting treatment by using therapeutic communication techniques in a professional manner

Abstract Anxiety in nursing students have been shown to have an impact on the body. This study aims to determine the effect of mindfulness training by using smartphone applications on anxiety in the group of final level nursing students in Indonesia. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test design. The number of samples was 77 students, divided into 38 respondents in the intervention group and 39 respondents in the control group. The intervention group was given mindfulness training by using the smartphone application in four meetings for two weeks, whereas the control group was given mindfulness training after the study in the fifth week. Anxiety is measured by the Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSRAS) instrument. Data analyze by using Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests. The results of this study indicate that the average value of anxiety in the intervention group before the study was 43.55 (± 3.92), and there was a decrease after mindfulness training to 36.50 (± 4.77) (p = .000). Whereas in the control group the average anxiety value was 44.23 (± 4.36), and there was an increase in anxiety to 45.00 (± 5.04) in the post-test with a value (p = .813). Mindfulness training through smartphone devices SIMBA application has a significant effect on reducing anxiety levels in final-year nursing students. This intervention could be done independently to overcome psychological problems that often interfere with the learning process of nursing students in the academic environment. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the most significant risk factor for having tuberculosis (TB) diseases as people with HIV are 20 times more likely to develop TB disease compared to non-HIV individuals. This paper discusses the case of Lucas (pseudonym), who presented to the emergency department (ED) with history of chronic diarrhoea and symptoms suggesting TB diseases. Lucas was then found to have an active TB infection and According to the guidance on provider-initiated HIV testing and counselling in health facilities, HIV screening should performed or offered to newly diagnosed TB patients. However, Lucas was not offered to do HIV testing, which may possibly cause inadequate TB therapy that he received. This paper further discusses the pathophysiology of HIV and TB coinfection, followed by a discussion of the nursing assessment and management as well as the medical management in the ED. Then, HIV related stigma will be discussed, as it can be a barrier for introducing HIV testing in TB patients.

Circumcision actions often cause pain complaints when the anesthetic injection and post-circumcision are given to patients. Distraction aims to reduce pain response. Distraction by seeing and holding a needle is referred to as audiovisual distraction, which is a combination of hearing distraction (audio) and visual distraction to distract the patient's attention from the pain. This study aims to determine the effect of distraction technique on pain intensity among patients undergoing circumcision anesthetic. This study was a quasi-experimental design by using Two groups, pre-test, and post-test with the non-equivalent control group. The research sample consisted of 98 respondents who were divided into two groups taken by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was the Wong-Baker Faces Pain Scale (WBFPS). Data analysis used was Bivariate Analysis by using Mann Whitney U Test. The result showed that the application of distraction technique to see and to hold a needle in the intervention group was influential in reducing the intensity of injection pain/anesthetic injections on circumcision clients compared to the control group (z = -8,881; p = 0,000). Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the application of a distraction technique to see and to hold needle affects to reduce the intensity of injection pain/anesthetic injections on circumcision clients. It is expected that the distraction technique of viewing and holding needle becomes an independent nursing intervention for an invasive procedure such as undergoing circumcision anesthetic
