Abstract

Commercial chicken eggs are one of the most sought-after livestock products by the community due to their easy availability, affordable price, and complete nutritional content to meet the protein needs of animals. This study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of consumers of commercial chicken eggs and examine the factors influencing consumer behavior towards the purchase of commercial chicken eggs in Manado City. The sample determination method used accidental sampling, which involved randomly selecting respondents who were purchasing commercial chicken eggs at the traditional markets of Bersehati and Pinasungkulan in Manado City. A total of 100 respondents were included in the study. The data analysis utilized multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicated that income, the share of expenditure on purchasing commercial chicken eggs, the number of family members, and the education level of housewives simultaneously influenced the dependent variable, which was the quantity of consumed commercial chicken eggs. The R2 value of 0.545 indicates that changes in the independent variables can explain 54.5% of the changes in the dependent variable, while the remaining 45.5% is attributed to other factors beyond the model equation. The characteristics of consumers of commercial chicken eggs in the traditional markets of Bersehati and Pinasungkulan in Manado City include age, education level, occupation, and income.

Abstract

The successful growth of elephantgrass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Merkeron) is reflected in the high and low levels of forage production and quality. Successful growth of forage requires physical environmental support from ideal soil and climate as well as the treatment process provided. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design with 7 treatments and 3 replications. Fertilizer use are single N-P-Ca fertilizer and compound NPCa fertilizer. The dosage of single N-P-Ca fertilizer and compound NPCa fertilizer is adjusted to the rules stated on the label issued by the fertilizer factory. Treatment of single N-P-Ca fertilizer dose and compound NPCa fertilizer. The data were analyzed statically by analysis of variance and the difference in the mean value was calculated by the list significant difference (LSD) method at 1% and 5% levels. The single N-P-Ca and compound NPCa fertilizer treatments obtained good results compared to those without fertilizer application (control). Plant height growth, growth in the number of tillers, fresh material production and leaf percentage production obtained the best results in the single N-P-Ca treatment compared to the compound NPCa treatment at various levels. It can be concluded that, if using inorganic fertilizer, it is better to use single N-P-Ca fertilizer compared to compound NPCa fertilizer

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the ratio of rice husk, sawdust, and lime as litter on the health of broilers. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications. Each replication consisted of five broilers. The treatment given included P1 = 100% rice husk. P2 = 100% sawdust, P3 = 70% rice husk, 25% sawdust, and 5% lime. P4 = 25% rice husk, 70% sawdust, 5% lime. P5 = 47.5% rice husk, 47.5% sawdust, and 5% lime. The research parameters included: physical characteristics of external and internal organs, percentage of internal organ weight, and broiler mortality. This study's results indicate abnormal physical characteristics of broilers' external organs (legs, feathers, and cloaca) and internal organs (liver, spleen, thymus, and kidneys). The average percentage of liver, heart, and gizzard weight of broilers in this study ranged from 3.98-357%, 0.70-0.84%, and 3.29-4.0%. The average mortality rate reached 0.01% of 100 broilers reared for six weeks. It was concluded that the rice husk, sawdust, and lime ratio showed abnormal physical characteristics in broilers' external and internal organs. However, it did not significantly affect (P0.05) the percentage of internal organ weight and broiler mortality

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of herbal supplementation as a feed additive, through feeding, on the relative weight of visceral organs and the number of pathogenic bacteria in the small intestine and IOFC of ayam kampung. The method used was the experimental method, which consisted of 2 treatment groups, namely group T0 (chickens were only given basal feed, without the addition of herbs) and group T1 (chickens were given basal feed and additional of 1% herbs). Each group consisted of 50 cross-breeding ayam kampung, namely Joper and KUB. The variables measured were the relative weight of the visceral organs (heart, pancreas, liver, spleen and bursa of Fabricius) and the number of pathogenic bacteria in the small intestine (Clostridium, Staphylococcus, Mycobacterium, Pasteurella). The results showed that the administration of 1% herbs to Joper and KUB did not affect the relative weight of the visceral organs tested and no pathogenic bacteria were found in the small intestine in both Joper and KUB chickens. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that 1% herbal supplementation as a feed additive has a positive effect on the health of the heart, digestive glands, lymphoid glands, and no pathogenic bacteria are found in the small intestine of ayam kampung, both Joper and KUB

Abstract

The role of farmer groups are very strategic in increasing the number of Bali cattle. The existence of the group has been able to increase the number of livestock. The aim of this research is to determine the phenotypic purity of Bali Cattle raised in Kabila Bone District based on Indonesia National Standards (SNI). This research was carried out in several livestock groups in Kabilabone District, Bonebolango, ± 5 months, namely in July-November 2023. Method used were visual observations and body measurements. Descriptive analysis for external phenotypic appearance and quantitative. The skin color of female Bali cattle in Molotabu and Biluango Villages experienced a shift or bias from the SNI standard of 1.67-2.85 respectively, where the body skin color was dark brown to black, while other cattle have normal colors such as brick red, brown, light brown and fawn according to SNI standards. The white color pattern on the buttocks/rump mirror (CB) is a characteristic of male and female Bali cattle. The white color is circular in shape following the shape of the rear buttocks of the Bali cattle. CB circle boundaries in Bali cattle are clearly visible. The frequency of CB color boundary phenotypes in female Bali cattle is the frequency of CB with clear boundaries was 33.33-76.67%, while those with unclear boundaries was 23.33-66.67%. The highest body weight of female Bali cattle was 262.87 while the lowest was 162.0, and the standard deviation value for body weight was ±26.10. Female Bali cattle raised traditionally do not comply with SNI standards
