Abstract

This study aims to determine the prevalence of ectoparasites infestation in cattle at the Payakumbuh Livestock Market. This research was conducted in August 2022. A total of 158 cows were randomly selected to be examined for ectoparasites at the Payakumbuh Livestock Market. Examination of ectoparasites using the permanent mounting method without staining. This study used a descriptive non-experimental design to obtain data on the incidence of ectoparasitic infestation in cattle at the Payakumbuh Livestock Market. Of the 158 cows examined, 85 of them were positive for ectoparasites on the outside of the body with a prevalence of 53.8%. Type of ectoparasites in the form of ticks Dermacentor sp. (50.63%) and Boophilus sp. (13.92%). Ectoparasites were found to be highest in cows with an infestation rate of 55.26% in the age group 8 years the prevalence reached 100% compared to the group of young cattle 56.36%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine areas in Manggarai that have potential in pig development. The method used in this study is secondary data observation of Manggarai Regency and will be analyzed using Location Quotient (LQ) analysis. The results showed that the areas that received LQ 1 scores were Satar Mese, West Satar Mese, Wae Ri'i, Cibal and West Reok districts. This means that the region has not been able to meet the needs of its own territory and is still importing from other regions. While the sub-districts that received LQ 1 scores were North Satar Mese, Langke rembong, Ruteng, Lelak, North Rahong, West Cibal and Reok. This means that the pig farming sector is able to meet the needs of its own region and is also able to export outside the region. Manggarai District, North Satar Mese, Langke Rembong, Ruteng, Lelak, North Rahong, West Cibal and Reok are districts with superior communities in the form of livestock

Abstract

Utilization of cauda epididymis spermatozoa has been carried out because these spermatozoa can be used in artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization. The purpose of this study was to obtain information on the quality of spermatozoa which produced from the cauda epididymis of Bali cattle at different ages. The cauda epididymis samples used came from 31 slaughterhouses. Information and identification of the age of the cattle was based on the structure of the incisors. Observations were made on the variables of motility, concentration, viability and abnormalities of spermatozoa. Each variable was observed in duplicate from each cauda. The data was performed using a t-test to obtain differences in each group. The results showed that the motility was 64.1% in 2 years to 71.2% in 3 years. Spermatozoa concentration were increase from 310.1x107/mL to 401.1x107/mL in 3 years. Viability values were 93.8% to 95.9% and total abnormality was 16.2 to 20.6% in 3 years. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant difference (P0.05) for the concentration, viability and head abnormality of the spermatozoa. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the quality of spermatozoa cauda epididymis is affected by the age of the Bali cattle. The concentration, viability and head abnormality values were increased with increasing age of Bali cattle.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out about the evaluation of using clove leaves powder with different percentages on the physical quality of corngrit that is being stored for two months. This research is done in the Feed Technology and Engineering Laboratory of the animal husbandry department, Faculty of Agriculture, Pattimura University in the period of September to November 2022. This research consists of 4 treatments and 4 repetition, P0 = 1500g corn grit  + 0g clove leaves powder (0%); P1 = 1500g corn grit + 225g clove leaves powder (15%); P2 = 1500g corn grit  + 450g clove leaves powder (30%); P3 = 1500g corn grit  + 675g clove leaves powder (45%). The variables that are being observed in this research include weight, color, smell, lice, and fungus. The result of the research shows that the addition of 30% and 45% clove leaves powder in 1500g of corn grit  gives better results to the physical quality of grit because they suppress lice infestation and fungus growth. The treatments also give distinct fragrant clove leaves, instead of the usual musty odor that appears on the corn grit that has been stored for 2 months.

Abstract

This research was aimedto determine the effect of egg index on fertility, hatchability, hatching weight and mortality of KUB chicken embryos (Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan). This research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 6 replications where each experimental unit consisted of 9 KUB eggs. The three treatments were differentiated based on the egg index value, namely, P1 (72); P2 (72-76) and P3 (76). The results showed that the egg shape index of KUB chickens had no significant effect (P0.05) on fertility, hatchability, hatching weight and embryo mortality.

Abstract

Corn straw contains dry matter and organic matter which are nutrients that are needed by livestock, but have high crude fiber, low digestibility and protein content, are bulky (voluminous) and are not economical and inefficient to be transported to areas other. One of the technologies that can be used is a complete wafer-shaped feed technology that consists of fiber feed, namely corn straw and concentrate with a composition based on the nutritional needs of livestock, efficient in storage and transportation and ensures availability in the season of feed shortages. Based on this, this research was carried out with the aim of knowing the effect of different storage periods on water content, ash content, and organic matter of corn straw complete feed wafers. The materials used in this study were corn straw, finished feed concentrate, additives/complementary materials. The tools used in this research are: lawn mowers/waste such as sickles and choppers, milling machines, presses, heaters and molds with a size (15 x 15 x 5) cm. Parameters measured were water content, ash content, and organic matter. The results of the analysis of diversity showed that the effect of storage time on complete feed wafers of corn straw had a significantly different effect (P0.05) on moisture content and ash content and organic matter of complete feed wafers. Further test Honest Significant Difference on water content and ash content of P0 treatment had no significant effect (P 0.05) with P1; but significantly different (P0.05) higher with P2 and P3, while P2 had the same effect as P3. BNJ test for organic matter treatment P0 was significantly different (P0.05) with P1; P2 and P3; Likewise, P1 was significantly different (P0.05) with P2 and P3, while P2 and P3 were not significantly different (P0.05). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that complete feed wafers based on corn straw can be stored for up to 6 weeks, based on moisture content, ash content and organic matter.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the farmers' share and marketing efficiency of purebred chicken eggs. This research was conducted in January 2023. The research method used is the survey method. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with the Snow Ball Sampling technique. Data analysis includes marketing costs, marketing margins, farmer's share, profit and cost ratios and marketing efficiency of each marketing channel. The results of this study show that the largest farmer's share is 81.66%, the ratio of benefits and costs is the largest, namely 11.47. The smallest farmer's share is 69.04%, the smallest profit and cost ratio is 5.86, and the biggest marketing cost is IDR 4,705. Level I and level II channels of marketing of purebred chicken eggs in Talawaan District are efficient with a value 1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of beef imports in Indonesia. This study uses quantitative analysis with time series data regression. Secondary data was obtained from BPS by analyzing the coefficient of determination test (R2) so that an R2 value of 0.907 was obtained. This shows that 90.7% of the demand for beef imports in Indonesia can be explained by the variables of domestic beef prices, world beef prices, exchange rates, and income per capita, while the remaining 9.3% is explained by other variables outside the model. The results of the study show that the variable price of domestic beef, variable world meat prices, variable per capita income affect the demand for beef imports in Indonesia. However, the variable exchange rate of the rupiah against the dollar has no effect on the demand for imported beef in Indonesia.
