Abstract

The purpose of writing this review is to determine the role of reproductive technology in increasing the population of pigs after the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak. The method used in writing this review is to search for published research articles using Google search and Science direct with the keywords African swine fever and Artificial Insemination (AI). The results of this review show that ASF can reduce the population due to the high mortality rate, ASF can be transmitted through the reproductive organs but this can be overcome by utilizing IB reproductive technology. In addition, AI reproductive technology is also one of the reproductive technologies that can be used to increase the livestock population after the ASF outbreak. Based on the review, it can be ensured that artificial insemination reproductive technology is able to prevent ASF transmission and increase livestock populations after the ASF outbreak.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the weight and carcass percentage of super free-range chicken given broiler chicken intestine flour as substitution of fish meal in the fed ration. The study used experimental methods arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and four replications in order to obtain 20 experimental units. The experimental used were one hundred super free-range chickens which were day old chick. The chickens were placed in 20 colony cages, each of which was filled with 5 birds. The treatment of fed ration consisted of P0 (Fed ration with 10% fish meal, without chicken intestine flour), P1 (7.5% fish meal + 2.5% chicken intestine flour), P2 (5.0% fish meal + 5.0% chicken intestine flour), P3 (2.5% fish meal + 7.5% chicken intestine flour) and P4 (Fed ration without fish meal + 10% chicken intestine flour). After 8 week old (56 days) the chickens were slaughtered and the carcass parts separated. The variables observed were live body weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage of the thigh, chest, back and wings. The results showed that the treatment had no significant effect (P0.05) on live body weight, carcass percentage and carcass percentage of the thigh, breast, back and wing of super free-range chickens. It was concluded that broiler chicken intestine flour could be used up to 10% level as a substitute for fish meal in the ration and did not reduce body weight and carcass percentage of super free-range chickens.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the best ration using fermented sorghum Cellulomonas Sp in complete feed through performance parameters of rabbit production. This research was carried out in 2 stages namely; 1) Sorghum fermentation test experiment using Cellulomonas Sp with determination of the best incubation time. 2) Research on biological test of treated feed (best results of phase 1) research formulated in a complete feed mixture for rabbits. The first phase of the study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments which was repeated 5 times. Treatment of incubation time (L) at room temperature was 4 levels, namely L1 = 7 days, L2 = 14 days, L3 = 21 days and L4 = 28 days. The observed variables were protein and crude fiber content. The second phase of the study used an experimental method with a randomized block design (RAK) based on the initial body weight of rabbits. The treatment feed consisted of 5 levels which were repeated in 3 body weight groups, each experimental unit filled with 2 male rabbits so that the number of rabbits used was 30. The treatment given was the level of use of sorghum in a complete feed ration made in pellet form with the following arrangement: R0 = Ration without using sorghum; R1 = Ration using 10% fermented sorghum Cellulomonas Sp; R2 = Ration using 20% fermented sorghum Cellulomonas Sp; R3 = ration using 30% fermented sorghum Cellulomonas Sp and R4 = ration using 40% fermented sorghum Cellulomonas Sp. The observed variables were feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. The results of the Phase I study showed that the average protein content incubated at 7, 14, 21 and 28 days, respectively, was 7.23%, 7.50%, 8.77% and 8.80%, while the average fiber content was crude oil is 14.46%, 12.33%, 11.22% and 10.64%. Fermentation plays an important role in the process of increasing protein and decreasing crude fiber, because in the fermentation process there are microbes that can remodel the substrate. In the second stage of the study, it was seen that the highest ration consumption was found in the R3 treatment, which was 59.70 g/head/day, as well as the highest body weight gain was found in the R3 treatment, which was 15.91 g/head/day. The R3 treatment also showed the lowest conversion value of 3.75 compared to other treatments in this study. This shows that the R3 treatment is more efficient than the other treatments. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the administration of 30% fermented sorghum Cellulomonas sp in a complete feed mixture showed the best results in terms of consumption parameters, body weight gain and feed conversion

Abstract

Pasture-based feeds are favored nowadays due to their cost-effectiveness and effect on animal welfare. Daily herbage allowance (DHA) affects the performance of dairy cows across different seasons. The key determinant of the performance of livestock is the dry matter intake (DMI) of herbage in pasture-based systems. A decline in average summer rainfall may result in considerably higher concentrate supplementation requirements to compensate for the loss in pasture growth and availability during autumn. Supplementation during autumn and winter boost total DMI and sustain milk output under grazing restrictions. Generally, milk production increases at high DHA but has no significant influence on milk fat content. In Spring, greater milk production lessens cows’ maintenance energy needs, and lower pasture content is linked to lower methane generation in the rumen. Methane generation declines in summer with increased digestibility at high intake levels. It is recommended to conduct an experiment exhibiting all seasons to eliminate factors that may affect the results across various studies. This review will understand variation in daily herbage intake of cows at pasture that allows the management of total intake to optimize milk production and identification of cows that are more efficient at converting feed into milk.
