Abstract

The majority of Lambung Bukik Village people, Pauh Subdistrict, Padang City, make a living from farming horticultural crops, secondary crops, forest plants (Sungkai and gaharu) and raising cattle and chickens. The Sungkai Permai Farmer Group has a 2-5-year-old gaharu tree, the seeds obtained through the Elok Nagari CSR activities of PT Semen Padang. Currently, the agarwood tree has good potential through the inoculation of fungal pathogens on the agarwood tree to form economically valuable sapwood and the use of its leaves as a health drink. This activity aims to: 1). the community knows how to cultivate agarwood plants, know its benefits, and know-how to process parts of the agarwood tree, such as sapwood and leaves, into raw materials for tea drinks, 2). provide special skills for farmer groups members so that they are expected to be used as independent businesses; 3). They empower the community in utilizing empty land through the cropping pattern of aloes agroforestry with plantation crops, 4). as a form of community activity from Andalas University, especially the Faculty of Agriculture. This activity was carried out in the Sungkai Permai Farmer Group, Lambung Bukik Village, Padang City. The Sungkai Permai farmer group has acquired knowledge about gaharu cultivation and tea use through participatory methods and training in the form of demonstrations and demonstration plots by planting approximately 150 gaharu seeds as raw material for tea through an agroforestry pattern. The Sungkai Permai farmer group has acquired knowledge of using the part of gaharu to become aloe tea as a drink and health medicine from the leaves and sap of aloes. The Sungkai Permai farmer group can manage raw materials for gaharu leaves and sap derived from gaharu trees around farmers' land in Limau Manis sub-district, or other areas. They can be a productive business opportunity as tea and medicine in health drinks to improve the community's economy.

Abstract

Sorghum is an adaptive plant, can grow optimally on dry and acid soil and is resistant to marginal conditions (drought, salinity, and acid soils). This plant has benefits from carbohydrates to replace rice and can be processed into other derivative products. People consume sorghum that is processed traditionally, among others, made porridge or steamed and enjoyed immediately. Also, with proper processing, it can make sorghum potential health functional food. This activity aims to improve the economy of the surrounding community by providing knowledge and information related to sorghum processing and cultivation. Activities were carried out in the form of counseling, training, and mentoring. At the end of the program, a technology transfer can increase people's knowledge and income in Nagari Rambat. The activity results found that Jorong Pabalutan and Dusun Ladang Laweh were located in Nagari Rambat, Rambat District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. Nagari Rambat has 1,550 families, the majority of whom are rice farmers in the fields, tapping rubber. The area of rice fields in Nagari Rambat is around 27,442 hectares. The general condition faced by farmers is irrigation problems; farmers only plant rice in the fields twice a year, even only once a year. This is because the propagation is a rain shadow area. One of the efforts to fill the void of land during the dry season is by cultivating sorghum. Furthermore, the Sepakat farmer groups' survey results and the Kuta Bali farmer groups show a strong desire to obtain a transfer of knowledge and technology related to proper and correct sorghum cultivation.

Abstract

One of the factors causing the low productivity of rice in West Sumatra Province is quality seeds, which are still very low. Also, many rice varieties currently used have a low resistance to pests and diseases, particularly the leafhoppers, which currently attack rice in West Sumatra. The National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) is one of the institutions that produce new rice varieties through mutation technology, one of the varieties produced in the Kahayan variety. Kahayan varieties have several advantages over the previous varieties, namely early age, high productivity, and resistance to certain pests and plant diseases. This activity aims to disseminate the breeding of Kahayan rice seeds to breeding farmer groups so that they can fulfill their needs for rice seeds independently. The activity was carried out at the Air Sarasah Farmer Group in Nagari Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, from November 2019 to March 2020. The activity consisted of disseminating breeding activities, implementing Kahayan rice breeding, and assisting Kahayan rice varieties' breeding. From this activity, farmer groups have been able to better breed rice, according to the operational standards for seed breeding set by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. Also, farmer groups have been able to increase their knowledge of certifying rice seeds. From the results of rice seed breeding, it was obtained that the Kahayan rice seed class Basic Seed (BD) yield was 6.1 tonnes/hectare, which exceeded the national average rice yield, namely in 2018, it was 5.2 tonnes/hectare.

Abstract

This activity was carried out due to the lack of promotion of Sanjay village tourism through social media. Promotions using social media require managers to up-date activities as a means of promotion. Also, social media does not appear on search engines unless the public visits our social media. Furthermore, promotion is limited only to the friendships we have joined so that the public reach is only as broad as the network we have built. Therefore the GMB (google my business) application from Google can overcome the disadvantages of promotion on social media. GMB application can strengthen the promotion of the Sanjai tourist village through a Google search. Public search using keywords and also connected with google maps. This activity uses training and mentoring methods in conveying messages to management groups and entrepreneurs in the Sanjai village to become entrepreneurs in the e-commerce field. There are not many businesses in Sanjai, Bukittinggi City, not many of which have online promotion facilities. This Google My Business training is provided to equip entrepreneurs in Sanjay village to promote their merchandise digitally. In addition to this training, it was also used in developing Sanjay village tourism promotion. The result is that they are not maximal to use these applications. The many obstacles that occur in the field, such as training targets who are technologically illiterate, need mentoring efforts to carry out promotional efforts independently.

Abstract

Currently the elderly population in Indonesia is 9.27%. The elderly experience some decline in various aspects of development such as biological, cognitive, psychological, social, and spiritual. The decline in development in the elderly will reduce the mental well-being of the elderly. This is also due to the lack of developmental stimulation in the elderly so that spiritual needs are needed as a developmental stimulation to improve the mental health welfare of the elderly. The purpose of the activity was to determine the effect of stimulating health education on the development of spirituality in the elderly in RW VIII, Parak Gadang Timur Village. Health education interventions to stimulate the development of spirituality are carried out by providing knowledge of spiritual aspects and lectures to respondents. Abstract

The people in Lingkuang Aua village make their living in agriculture, plantation, and animal husbandry. However, the people in this Nagari have not optimized the village's potential, especially in the field of animal husbandry, including livestock manure waste. Animal manure has the potential to be processed as organic fertilizer. Fertilizer is a commodity that is needed in the agricultural and plantation sectors. In Lingkuang Aur village, the use of chemical fertilizers is still high in the West Pasaman area. However, the price of chemical fertilizers is costly, and even excessive use can damage soil fertility. Organic fertilizers are fertilizers derived from crop residues and livestock manure that have undergone a decomposition/weathering process. The advantages of this fertilizer are environmentally friendly, increase soil fertility, and increase farmers' income. This activity aims to provide knowledge and understanding for farmers in processing livestock manure into organic fertilizer. The methods used are socialization, demonstration/training, and evaluation. The targets of the activity are breeders and the community in Nagari Lingkuang Aur. This activity provides a technology package for making organic fertilizers based on cow dung and EM4, as well as the addition of organic matter found in this village. The result of this activity is that breeders and the community have increased their knowledge and understanding of processing livestock manure into organic fertilizer. The use of organic fertilizers can increase soil fertility, and the price is low, which provides benefits for farmers/breeders. It is hoped that farmers and breeders can apply organic fertilizers to agricultural land to reduce the high price of fertilizers.

Abstract

The embroidery craftsmen in Nagari Singgalang, Tanah Datar, have exquisite quality embroidery, but they do not significantly impact the craftsmen's income. This is because most of them are only wage earners. The wages they receive are not proportional to the processing they do. However, they do not have the bargaining power to increase wages due to many embroidery artisans. Low levels of education, lack of capital, and lack of knowledge about embroidery marketing are obstacles for them to develop. This activity aims to increase the productivity of artisans to become independent craftsmen (producers). The methods used are public participation and women participation in the economy through counseling, socialization, digital marketing training, and embroidery craftsmen. The extension is carried out to motivate them to be more productive while the practice is focused on digital marketing training to promote and market their products. The formation of an embroidery group is done so that they can work together and move forward together. This service is also complemented by providing embroidery materials and equipment to the assisted embroidery groups to start production and marketing themselves and not only as wage earners. The results of the activity resulted in four mukenah pieces with different variations and prices. The resulting product has been sold well so that the proceeds from the sale are used again to buy production materials, and part of it is distributed as profit. Thus this activity has a positive impact on the development of the embroidery business in Nagari Singgalang. In the future, this activity can become a pilot project for other groups to improve the embroidery craftsman family's welfare.
