Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni is an international journal dedicated for the publication of scientific articles in language education, literature, and arts education. It was firstly published on March 2000 with ISSN 1411-3732 in 2007 by Faculty of Language Literature and Arts Universitas Negeri Padang. This journal had ever been changed into Jurnal Bahasa dan Seni during 2004-2013. In 2014 this journal is renamed as Komposisi: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Seni applies open journal system (OJS) and peer-reviewed online journal in 2017 with Online ISSN 2548-9097.

Abstract

This article aims to find out the efforts made by English Teachers’ Descussion Group (MGMP) of West Sumatra to enhance pedagogic and professional competencies as English teachers and to find out their understanding and ability to implementing those two competencies in the teaching learning process. The data were collected by questionnaires  based on the indicators of the two competencies as explained in the standards of competencies published by national standards of education. Abstract

Permasalahan dalam artikel ini difokuskan pada bagaimana proses kelancaran pemerolehan bahasa Indonesia bagi anak yang berbahasa ibu bahasa Indo-nesia (BI) dalam berkomunikasi secara lisan. Hal ini menarik karena anak selalu berhadapan dengan ma-syarakat yang berbeda-beda dan secara aktif meng-gunakan bahasa daerah yang berbeda pula. Dari hasil analisis diketahui bahwa anak di dalam memproduksi bahasa Indonesia untuk berkomunikasi sering meng-alami kesalahan dalam pengucapan dan dalam pemilih-an kata. Kesalahan pengucapan karena anak mengucap-kan kalimat bahasa Indonesia seperti kata dalam bahasa daerah yang dikuasai. Sedangkan kesalahan pemilihan kata terjadi karena anak belum memahami maka kosa kata bahasa daerah secara tepat. Kondisi semacam itu meskipun menunjukkan kerancauan berbahasa anak  tetapi dalam perkembangan selanjutnya menunjukkan bahwa anak tetap lebih baik di dalam berbahasa Indonesia dengan memiliki banyak kosa kata dari ber-bagai bahasa daerah. Kemampuan memproduksi bahasa dalam berkomunikasi tampak menunjukkan ketelitian dan kehati-hatian anak dalam memilih kata secara tepat. Abstract

PENGGUNAAN MEDIA AUDIOVISUAL DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATA KULIAH GITARAbstractThis study aims to describe the data and events that exist, especially in the use of audio visual media in the classical guitar learning in the Music, Drama, and Dance Department of FBS Universitas Negeri Padang. It used descriptive method. This method is considered appropriate to describe and systematically intrepreted facts and characteristics of the problems studied. Data were processed by: 1) collecting and classifying data from the observation and interview with the speakers about the guitar lesson and then presented again into the research report, 2) presentation of data with the intent to conduct discussion and analyze based on the problems formulated, that is about the material, And the use of audio-visual media in learning. 3) The conclusion of the data obtained during the study. Then data were carefully reviewed by comparing the data obtained to find the deficiencies and the advantages and uniqueness that can produce conclusions. The result of the research is that the learning media, especially in the use of audio visual media is a supportive tool in learning that is very useful in motivating students, so that students are eager to start learning.Keywords: Learning, Guitar, Audio Visual Media AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan data-data dan peristiwa yang ada, khususnya dalam penggunaan media audio visual dalam pembelajaran gitar klasik di jurusan Pendidikan Sendratasik FBS Universitas Negeri Padang. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Metode ini dianggap tepat untuk menggambarkan dan mengin-trepetasikan secara sistematis fakta dan karakteristik masalah yang diteliti. Teknik pengolahan data dilakukan dengan: 1) Mengumpulkan dan mengklasi-fikasikan data dari hasil observasi dan wawancara dengan para narasumber mengenai pembelajaran gitar lalu kemudian dipaparkan lagi ke dalam laporan penelitian, 2) Penyajian data dengan maksud melakukan pembahasan dan menganalisis berdasarkan permasalahan yang dirumuskan, yaitu mengenai materi, dan penggunaan media audio visual dalam pembelajaran. 3) Penarikan kesimpulan dari data yang diperoleh selama penelitian, kemudian ditinjau ulang secara seksama dengan cara membandingkan data yang diperoleh untuk menemukan kekurangan dan kelebihan serta keunikan yang dapat menghasilkan kesimpulan.hasil. Hasil penelitian dapat diperoleh temuan, bahwa media pembelajaran, khususnya dalam penggunaan media audio visual merupakan sarana pendukung dalam pembelajaran yang sangat bermanfaat dalam memotivasi mahasiswa, sehingga mahasiswa bersemangat untuk memulai pembelajaran. Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran, Gitar, Media Audio Visual

Abstract

The definition of the relation of meaning is the semantic relationships that exist between one language and another language. The units of this language can be words, phrases, or sentences, and semantic relationships that can express the similarity of meaning, the conflict of meaning, inclusion of meaning, duality of meaning, or also the excess of meaning. Abstract

Case grammar was first introduced by Charles J. Fillmore. It is a modification of the theory of grammar transformation which previously presents the conceptual framework of case relationship with the traditional grammar. Abstract

The learning of writing, particularly writing narratives, at primary schools aims to enable the students to express their ideas and thoughts into narratives. Previous studies inform that the skill of Grade IV students of Primary School 03 Alai Timur, Padang, in writing narrative is less satisfied. This is attributed to the facts that student’s lack of interest in writing and the teacher has no effective strategy in teaching. This research aims to discover the accurate and effective strategy in solving the problem of learning to write narratives at primary schools. The research is conducted to improve primary school students’ skill in writing narratives. This research employs a strategy considered being able to solve the problem of primary school students skill in writing narratives, that is the process approach. The approach is one of the alternatives for problem solution. The data collection techniques employed observation, interviews, and students writing. Then, the data are analyzed through qualitative data analysis model. To keep the data validity, Triangualation technique is used. The research findings indicate that strategy of process approach may improve the skill of Grade IV students of Primary School 03 Alai Timur Padang in writing narratives. Improvement is seen in each phase of learning which includes pre writing, writing and post writing. Assessment approach contributes to improvement of primary school student’s skill in writing narratives. Keywords: students’ ability; learning to write; process approach

Abstract

KEMAMPUAN DAN MASALAH SISWA DALAM MENULIS TEKS REVIEW DI KELAS XII SMAN 4 KERINCIAbstractThis article is written to describe research about students' ability in writing text review, problems faced by students in writing text review and cause of the problem tersebut. Data of this research is the result of students’ writing and the result of interview with the students. The result of this descriptive research shows that students’ ability in writing reviews is good enough. Although the average grade of students is categorized sufficiently, students also faced problems in writing reviews text. Their problems relate to vocabulary, grammar, general structure, organizing ideas, and spelling and punctuation. The findings also show that the cause of the problem is the first language interference, the target language is so difficult, and the lack of knowledge of students about the components in writing text reviews.Key words: writing ability, writing problems, review text Abstrak Artikel ini ditulis untuk mendeskripsikan penelitian tentang kemampuan siswa dalam menulis review text, masalah-masalah yang dihadapi siswa dalam menulis review text dan penyebab masalah tersebut. Data penelitian ini adalah hasil tulisan siswa dan hasil wawancara dengan siswa. Hasil penelitian deskriptif ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menulis review cukup. Meskipun nilai rata-rata siswa dikategorikan cukup, siswa juga menemukan masalah dalam menulis review text. Masalah-masalah mereka berhubungan dengan kosa kata, tata bahasa, struktur umum, mengorganisasikan ide dan ejaan serta tanda baca. Temuan juga menunjukkan bahwa penyebab masalah tersebut adalah interferensi bahasa pertama, bahasa sasaran yang begitu sulit, dan kurangnya pengetahuan siswa tentang komponen dalam menulis review text.Kata Kunci: writing ability, writing problems, review text

Abstract

The goal of teaching literature is enabling students to enjoy, comprehend, explore and use literary work for improving their knowledge and language skill as well. Besides that, it is also aimed at encouraging students to master and dig the distinctive points of literary work genres, namely prose, drama and poem. In fact, teaching literature, especially teaching poem for elementary students is not an easy job. Because it becomes a problem sometime for an English teacher to make their students love and enjoy poem. So that, an appropriate teaching method is needed to solve that problem, even there is no best method which can meet all of teaching and learning goals. One of recent method that is widely used by English teacher recently is Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL). The principles of CTL have high possibilities to be applied, they are; contructing, modelling, discovery, learning community and questioning. Dealing with Discovery-Inquiry method, Carin in mentioned that Discovery-Inquiry is a teaching method that give great chances for students to get involved and using their mental process to dig and make the discoveries  for materials that they are studied. This method designs the situation that empowers students to activate their learning experience. Students may study outside of class for observation and getting inspiration, next time that experience can be written in a poem, so unconsciously they have learned how to write and explore a poem. Abstract

This research aims at identifying the effectiveness of the use of ‘content area strategy’ in teaching creative writing. Based on the action performed in the class it was found that the content area strategy was able to enhance students’ ability in writing short stories. The effectiveness was recognized from the average scores achieved in writing short stories both in describing the content of the story and the element of the story, and in language use..
