Abstract

Diseases in society are classified into two types: naturalistic diseases, caused by natural factors, and personalistic diseases, caused by supernatural factors. Traditional medicine knowledge is practiced by communities using natural resources in their environment. Personalistic diseases require special treatment by traditional medicine practitioners. This study aims to explore the community's perspective on the existence of Wong Pinter and the model of traditional medicine knowledge transmission carried out by Wong Pinter. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and literature studies. The data were analyzed using Cavalli-Sforza and Feldman's Cultural Transmission theory. The results showed that the existence of Wong Pinter in Watuaji Village, Jepara Regency, is still needed by the community to treat illnesses. Wong Pinter has spiritual authority and legitimacy in the community, giving them high social status. The vertical transmission model is obtained orally and experientially from parents or grandparents. Meanwhile, diagonal transmission is obtained from Wong Tuo-tuo and Guru Mursyid. These different transmission sources produce different types of knowledge, namely Ilmu Sapan and Ilmu Bidah. Horizontal transmission is obtained from interactions with peers by passing on collective medical knowledge.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms, mechanisms, and impacts of bureaucratic politicization in the post-Pilkada period on the professionalism of the State Civil Apparatus (Aparatur Sipil Negara—ASN) and regional governance. The study employs a library research approach by examining books, journal articles, regulations, and previous studies relevant to the topic. Data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method through classification, interpretation, and synthesis of findings. The results indicate that bureaucratic politicization after Pilkada occurs through promotion, transfer, demotion, and appointment processes based on political loyalty. These practices foster patronage relationships between regional heads and bureaucrats, thereby undermining the merit system in the management of civil servants. The consequences include declining bureaucratic neutrality, weakened professionalism among public officials, deteriorating public service quality, and the increasing prevalence of patronage and nepotism within regional governments. From the perspective of the Political Control of Bureaucracy Theory, these findings suggest that excessive political control may evolve into political domination that threatens bureaucratic independence. Therefore, strengthening the merit system, enhancing oversight of ASN neutrality, and limiting political intervention are essential prerequisites for establishing a professional, accountable, and effective bureaucracy.

Abstract

Bone fractures are common injuries, whether caused by accidents, sports injuries, or daily activities. However, in Indonesia, especially Java, traditional treatments such as sangkal putung are a popular choice among the community. Despite modern facilities, many people still believe in the efficacy of Sangkal Putung. This study aims to understand the community's perception of the efficacy of Sangkal Putung massage in treating bone fractures, how Sangkal Putung massage can play a role in traditional and modern health systems, and to determine the community's perception of the risks that may arise from the use of Sangkal Putung massage as a treatment for bone injuries. This study applies the Health Belief Model theory. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data triangulation techniques to improve the accuracy and validity of the information. Data were obtained through interviews with various informants, including patients and non-patients, direct observation, and document analysis. The results of this study indicate that public perceptions of Sangkal Putung massage are formed from generations of experience, stories from relatives, and cultural practices, so that this method, which is considered effective or “mandi” in Javanese tradition, is chosen as an alternative treatment for bone injuries, sprains, and minor fractures.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation, challenges, and effectiveness of collaborative strategies between law enforcement agencies and local communities in combating drug problems at the local level. This research adopts a collaborative governance approach, emphasizing cross-sector cooperation among state institutions, local governments, religious leaders, traditional figures, and community members in addressing complex social problems collectively. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with law enforcement officers, community and religious leaders, village officials, focus group discussions with residents, and analysis of policy documents and official reports. The findings reveal that collaborative strategies have been implemented through community-based prevention programs, joint law enforcement operations, and limited rehabilitative efforts. These collaborations have contributed to increased public awareness and improved effectiveness of drug law enforcement. However, the study also identifies critical challenges, including indications of drug trafficking syndicates involving rogue law enforcement officers, public apathy and weakened social control, and the suboptimal role of religious leaders in social regulation. These challenges undermine public trust and limit community participation, which are essential for sustainable collaboration. This study addresses a research gap in previous studies that predominantly focused on statistical trends, legal enforcement, or general drug prevention programs without comprehensively examining the dynamics of collaborative governance at the local level, particularly in Kabupaten Bima.

Abstract

The Jolen tradition is a cultural practice of the people of Somongari Village, Kaligesing District, Purworejo Regency, which reflects communal life and is rich in symbolic and moral values. This tradition not only functions as a form of earth alms and expression of gratitude for durian and mangosteen harvests, but also acts as social and cultural capital that strengthens community solidarity. This study aims to analyze the process of implementing the Jolen tradition and to examine the symbolic meanings and moral values within the community. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity tested through triangulation. The data were obtained from four informants: the Kuncen, Jolen organizers and performers, cultural staff of the Purworejo Regency government, and the Dewi Sri performer (2015). The results show that the Jolen tradition is carried out through several stages, including preparation, procession (carnival), and closing all involving active community participation. This tradition contains various symbolic meanings reflected in cultural elements, including values of gratitude, religiosity, respect for ancestors, mutual cooperation, togetherness, justice, and harmony with nature. These values function as moral guidelines that shape community behavior and social relations. The Jolen tradition not only represents local cultural heritage but also plays an important role in maintaining and strengthening social cohesion in the midst of contemporary social dynamics.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Generasi Anti Kekerasan (GAK) community in responding to Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV) in Indonesia, particularly cyberbullying, doxing, online harassment, and digital discrimination. The study aims to analyze how GAK carries out digital education, victim advocacy, anti-victim blaming campaigns, and cross-sector collaboration in addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving members and facilitators of the GAK community. The findings reveal that GAK functions as a digital social movement that not only disseminates information regarding OGBV prevention, but also builds collective awareness, solidarity, and victim-centered advocacy practices. GAK conducts digital literacy education through social media campaigns, public discussions, hashtag activism, and capacity-building activities aimed at increasing awareness of digital safety and gender justice. The study also shows that victim assistance requires emotional support, digital protection, legal referral mechanisms, and collaborative networks involving educational institutions, psychologists, civil society organizations, and digital platforms. This study highlights that grassroots digital communities play a strategic role in creating safer digital spaces and strengthening gender-sensitive digital citizenship. The findings contribute to the development of studies on digital sociology, feminist digital activism, and community-based advocacy in addressing Online Gender-Based Violence in Indonesia.

Abstract

The increasing use of Instagram as a space for self-expression encourages adolescents to align their self-image with digital appearance standards that emphasize visual aesthetics and social acceptance. This study aims to describe adolescents’ impression management strategies in coping with appearance standards on Instagram, identify factors influencing the formation of digital self-image, and analyze the implications for digital identity and psychological well-being. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving five female adolescent informants aged 18–21 who actively use Instagram and reside in Serang City and outside the region. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation of Instagram accounts, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results indicate that adolescents manage their image through post selection, filter use, audience control, and the separation of public and private spaces. These practices are influenced by internal and external factors and demonstrate that self-image formation occurs through a process of negotiation between individual preferences, social expectations, and the characteristics of digital platforms. This study concludes that Instagram serves as a space for the negotiation of adolescent identity and contributes to the understanding that impression management practices are not entirely controlled by individuals but are also shaped by social contexts and platform mechanisms.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the economic strategies carried out by single mothers, the forms of social support they receive, and the role of independence development programs in supporting family economic sustainability. This research employs a qualitative approach using case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving five single mothers as key informants and three correctional officers responsible for inmate development programs. Data analysis applied the interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification, supported by source and technique triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that single mothers develop adaptive economic strategies through participation in prison workshop programs, utilization of work incentives, and alternative income-generating activities such as laundry services and institutional duties. Family support and correctional independence development programs also play a significant role in strengthening family economic sustainability. The study demonstrates that single mothers as inmates are not merely objects of correctional programs, but active social actors who construct adaptive economic strategies within structural constraints. This research reinforces the relevance of AGIL concept, particularly in the aspects of adaptation, integration, goal attainment, and latency in maintaining the economic function of the family.

Abstract

The “Marriage is scary” phenomenon gaining traction on social media is influencing how Generation Z views romantic relationships and marriage. Amid the dominance of this narrative, Nadin Amizah’s song “Taruh” emerges as a form of popular culture that offers a different perspective on love, fear, and hope within relationships. This study aims to understand how Generation Z interprets the song “Taruh” and how this interpretation presents an alternative perspective on the “Marriage is scary” trend. The study employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to explore the subjective experiences of Generation Z students at Semarang State University. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving informants who had listened to the song “Taruh” and understood the “Marriage is scary” trend. The results indicate that the song “Taruh” is interpreted as a representation of relationships that contain fear, trauma, and uncertainty, yet still leave room for hope and courage in love. The song is understood as a counter-narrative that helps Generation Z view relationships more realistically and not be entirely pessimistic about marriage.
