Abstract

Globally, > 75 million Women of Reproductive Age (WRA) needs Post Abortion Family Planning (PAFP) yearly after treatment of pregnancy loss. However, results from several studies show that majority of these women fail to access PAFP as needed. Efforts made to support uptake of PAFP in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) has borne little success and the uptake of PAFP remains crucially low. This study assessed factors associated with uptake of PAFP among WRA seeking PAC in Nyeri County Referral Hospital (NCRH). A descriptive cross-sectional study was used. The study population was WRA seeking PAFP as a component of PAC after having a pregnancy loss. The study sample included WRA who sought PAC at gynecological ward in NCRH during the time of study from February 11th 2023 to March 20th 2023. A researcher-administered questionnaire was used. Quantitative data was managed using SPSS version 25.  The rate of uptake of PAFP was 56.4%. Factors associated with the uptake of PAFP were: sociodemographic factors that included age, marital status, education level, occupation and parity. Health system related factors included: healthcare provider attitudes.

Abstract

Epigallo catechin gallate (EGCG), a catechin bioactive component found in green tea, has been used widely as a popular beverage in Asian nations for centuries. According to a summary of five years’ worth of recent papers, EGCG has a wide range of positive benefits including anticancer, anti-cholesterol, cardiovascular agent, anti-virus, antioxidant, and adjuvant treatment agent. The purpose of this literature review is to get more knowledge on EGCG, the most prevalent catechin derivative found in green tea. A substance with significant antioxidant capabilities, EGCG has a wide range of applications. However, EGCG also has a number of drawbacks in addition to its benefits, such as low stability, poor absorption, and the requirement for a daily intake restriction because it acts as a pro-oxidant and can be harmful if consumed in excess. As a result, authors attempt to mitigate undesirable effects and discover a way to maximize EGCG benefits through additional study that serves as research material. Furthermore, we are becoming research subjects in order to against the negative effects of EGCG, such as how to use probiotics to boost the absorption of EGCG during digestion.

Abstract

Palm olein is processed from the fruit of the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) and used as cooking oil. Olein is widely used for frying in many countries. Therefore, the objective of this study was to research the physicochemical properties of palm olein based on cloud point value and compare the result with PORAM (The Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia) standard and SNI 7709:2019 . The iodine values (IV), peroxide values (PV), free fatty acid (FFA) are often considered to be major significance indexes for the assessment of quality and stability of oils. There were seven samples in total, based on CP value (CP 7.2, CP 7.6, CP 8.0, CP 8.4, CP 8.8, CP 9.2, and CP 9.6).  Quality characteristics iodine values (IV), peroxide values (PV), free fatty acid (FFA) of RBD palm olein were measured. Cloud point is related to iodine value. The higher IV, the lower will be the CP. CP is related to the unsaturation level of olein, the more unsaturated the olein, CP will be lower. CP is unrelated with PV and FFA value which the increase CP value has no effect on the PV and FFA value. The physicochemical properties (IV, PV, FFA) of olein CP 7.2, CP 7.6, CP 8.0, CP 8.4, CP 8.8, CP 9.2, and CP 9.6  is fulfil PORAM standard and SNI 7709:2019.

Abstract

Program to Strengthen Midwives in Traditional Healthcare Services (Yankestrad) is an initiative aimed at enhancing the competence and capacity of midwives in providing traditional healthcare services. The program encompasses several key phases, including preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In the initial phase, 30 midwives underwent a refresher training program to ensure they were well-prepared for the subsequent comprehensive training. The program aimed to provide them with a deep understanding of traditional healthcare practices. The results of this community service program (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat) clearly indicate that the "Strengthening Midwives in Traditional Healthcare Services Program (Yankestrad)" in the Ingin Jaya Public Health Center (Puskesmas) area of Aceh Besar District has achieved significant milestones. Continuous evaluation conducted both during and after the training has shown remarkable improvements in the participants' abilities to deliver traditional healthcare services. The program has led to enhanced skills in communication and counseling among the midwives, which is crucial in providing effective healthcare services. Additionally, it successfully integrated information technology to augment knowledge, making use of online resources for up-to-date information. The program also delved into deepening the participants' understanding of the local cultural values that underlie traditional healthcare practices. These positive impacts have created substantial changes in the realm of traditional healthcare services and significantly improved the relationships between healthcare providers and patients. The commitment to continuous improvement ensures that this program serves as a solid foundation for further developments in advancing traditional healthcare services.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between handwashing behavior, often referred to as Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun (CTPS), and the prevention of COVID-19 among elementary school students in Banda Aceh City. The research conducted a descriptive-analytic study using a cross-sectional approach. Data was collected from elementary school students in SD Negeri 59 Banda Aceh, with a total sample size of 62 students. The analysis of the data involved both univariate and bivariate analyses. The findings revealed a significant relationship between students' knowledge about COVID-19 and their handwashing behavior, with a p-value of 0.001. Additionally, the role of teachers was found to be significantly associated with students' handwashing behavior, with a p-value of 0.020. However, the study did not establish a significant relationship between media involvement and handwashing behavior, as indicated by a p-value of 0.071. These results align with previous research and highlight the crucial role of knowledge and teachers in influencing proper handwashing behavior among students. In the context of COVID-19 prevention, the study underscores the importance of education, both from teachers and through media, to raise awareness and promote the practice of handwashing with soap (CTPS) as an integral part of preventive measures. Further research is needed to explore additional factors that may impact students' handwashing behavior and to gain a deeper understanding of the potential role of media in shaping this behavior.
