Abstract

This research aims to describe consumer behavior in planning finances through the use of e-wallets, which have been used since the COVID-19 pandemic and have become popular until now. The method used is a qualitative approach by collecting primary and secondary data through questionnaires and documents such as journals and books. Data analysis was carried out using a descriptive analysis method which aims to present the findings clearly and systematically. The results of this research show that consumer behavior in using e-wallets tends to be wasteful which is influenced by several factors such as impulsive shopping behavior, low income and lack of understanding of effective financial planning, all of which contribute to less than optimal financial management.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of job satisfaction on employee retention and the moderating effect of transformational leadership style on the relationship between job satisfaction and employee retention at Bank Syariah Indonesia, Mataram-Majapahit Sub-Branch Office. The research adopts a quantitative approach with a survey design, utilizing a likert-scale questionnaire as the instrument to measure the variables studied. Data collected from all 32 employees at the Mataram-Majapahit Sub-Branch Office were analyzed using moderated regression analysis (MRA) with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings reveal that job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on employee retention, with a p-value < 0.05. However, transformational leadership style does not moderate the relationship between job satisfaction and employee retention, as indicated by a p-value > 0.05, despite an R² value of 89.2%. Based on these results, it is recommended that management enhance job satisfaction by focusing on key contributing factors and conduct regular evaluations of leadership styles to support employee retention. Furthermore, future researchers are encouraged to broaden the scope of study and incorporate additional variables to achieve a more comprehensive understanding. Abstract

Zakat is one of the Islamic economic instruments which is an alternative policy used to reduce income inequality. With the distribution of zakat that is right on target, it can expand the income distribution of weak communities so that benefit and charity can be created. This research aims to determine the effect of zakat on income inequality in Indonesia for the 2016-2022 period, which includes semi-annual Gini ratio index data as a measurement of income inequality, as well as data on annual zakat distribution for 2016-2022 which has been interpolated into semi-annual data. The method used is a simple regression method using secondary data obtained through the BPS Indonesia and BAZNAS Republic of Indonesia websites. The results of the research conducted show that zakat has a significant negative effect on inequality, meaning that the higher the distribution of zakat will reduce income inequality in Indonesia with a significance value of 0.0030. and obtained an R-square result of 0.533, meaning that the zakat variable can explain income inequality by 53.3%

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of the Halal Value Chain (HVC) ecosystem in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges of halal certification and logistics, and to evaluate its strategic implications for sharia marketing and consumer purchasing decisions. This research utilizes a qualitative method with a literature review approach (library research). Data were collected from reputable scientific journals, books, and official reports published between, analyzed using content analysis to synthesize trends and structural barriers in the halal industry. The findings indicate that HVC functions as a critical ecosystem integrating upstream-to-downstream processes to ensure "Halalan Thoyyiban" integrity. While HVC positively influences consumer trust, brand image, and loyalty, its implementation in Indonesia is hindered by regulatory fragmentation, high certification costs for MSMEs, and a lack of integrated halal logistics infrastructure. Furthermore, the adoption of digital technologies like blockchain remains low. Conclusion: The study concludes that HVC is not merely a compliance mechanism but a fundamental value framework for ethical sharia marketing. Strengthening the HVC ecosystem through regulatory harmonization, infrastructure development, and digitalization is essential to enhance Indonesia's competitiveness as a global halal industry hub.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the reconstruction of Zakat, Rahn (Sharia Pawn), and Wakaf contracts to transform Islamic philanthropy instruments from a social dimension to a business (productive) economic dimension. The main challenge in managing philanthropy today is the tendency for its use to remain charitable and limited to physical infrastructure, thus failing to optimally reduce economic disparities. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods through a functionalist lens, in which each contract is reviewed based on its function in solving the economic problems of the community. The results show that the synergy between social contracts (tabarru') and commercial contracts (tijarah), such as the use of Qardhul Hasan, Mudharabah, Musyarakah, and Ijarah, can create a sustainable productive economic model. Implementation models such as the Mustahik to Muzakki entrepreneurship program in zakat, Ar-Rum products in Rahn, and project financing through cash waqf have proven effective in mobilizing community funds into productive assets. In conclusion, professional governance and integration between philanthropic instruments are crucial in building a strong, independent, and inclusive Islamic economic ecosystem.

Abstract

The halal cosmetics industry in Indonesia has experienced rapid growth over the past decade, driven by increasing consumer awareness of halal products that emphasize not only religious compliance but also quality, safety, and ethical values. As one of the world’s largest consumers of halal products, Indonesia offers significant market potential, particularly in the cosmetics sector. Wardah, a local halal cosmetics brand, has successfully positioned itself as a market leader through continuous product innovation, strong brand awareness, and effective use of electronic word of mouth (e-WOM). This study aims to analyze the influence of product innovation, brand awareness, and e-WOM on consumers’ purchasing decisions for Wardah products. A quantitative research approach was employed using a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 245 Generation Y and Generation Z Wardah users in South Tapanuli. The collected data were analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0. The results indicate that product innovation, brand awareness, and e-WOM have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. The R-square value of 0.777 demonstrates that these three variables explain 77.7% of the variance in purchasing decisions, with e-WOM showing the strongest influence among the variables. These findings highlight the importance of continuous product innovation, strengthening brand awareness, and leveraging online reviews and digital communities to enhance consumer trust and purchase intention. This study provides empirical insights that can support the development of effective marketing strategies for halal cosmetics in Indonesia.

Abstract

Halal tourism has emerged as an important strategy for promoting sustainable destination development in ASEAN, yet comparative evidence on how it contributes to sustainability across different national contexts remains limited. This study examines the role of halal tourism in supporting sustainable destination development in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, with particular attention to the contribution of Digital Business Models for Sustainability (DBMS). Using a comparative qualitative content analysis of secondary data from Our World in Data, the study analyzes three indicators: international tourism expenditure, sustainable tourism monitoring capacity, and tourism’s contribution to gross domestic product. The findings reveal distinct development patterns across the three countries. Malaysia demonstrates the strongest institutional integration between halal tourism, sustainability governance, and digital support systems. Thailand exhibits a highly adaptive halal-friendly tourism model characterized by strong economic dependence on tourism and expanding sustainability monitoring mechanisms. Indonesia shows steady growth and significant potential but remains in a consolidation phase marked by uneven governance and monitoring capacity. These findings suggest that the effectiveness of halal tourism as a driver of sustainable destination development depends not only on market growth but also on the integration of digital governance, sustainability monitoring, and institutional capacity. This study contributes to the literature by providing a comparative ASEAN perspective that links halal tourism, sustainable destination development, and DBMS within a unified analytical framework.

Abstract

The growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia has not fully kept pace with the dominance of the Muslim population, as reflected in the sharp decline in the number of Islamic bank accounts in Surakarta, even though the majority of the population is Muslim. This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and financial literacy on the interest in becoming a customer of a sharia bank with trust as a mediating variable in generation Z Muslims in Surakarta. This quantitative-thematic study uses the Theory of Planned Behavior and Commitment-Trust Theory approaches to explain the formation of behavioral intentions and the role of trust in long-term customer-bank relationships. Data were collected through a five-point Likert questionnaire from 400 respondents selected using accidental sampling techniques, then analyzed using SEM‑PLS through SmartPLS 4. The results show that religiosity and financial literacy have a significant positive effect on trust, while the interest in becoming a customer is most strongly influenced by trust, followed by financial literacy, while the direct effect of religiosity is relatively weaker. Trust is proven to significantly mediate the influence of religiosity and financial literacy on interest, so that moral encouragement and new financial capabilities are converted into intentions when generation Z believes in the integrity and sharia compliance of the bank. These findings underscore the importance of an integrated Sharia financial literacy education strategy that enhances the image of Sharia compliance, transparency, and service quality to optimize the market potential of Generation Z in Muslim-majority areas.
