Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the improvement of students’ pronunciation and self-confidence through Participation Point System (PPS) Method in teaching speaking skill. The research method used was class action research design consisting of 4 stages, namely planning, action observation and reflection. It had 2 cycles. The research was implemented on the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4Baraka 2016/2017. The researcher took 20 students as the subject of the research. The researcher taught speaking English using PPS Method. The data were gathered after scoring the students’ speaking skill on both pronunciation and self-confidence through diagnostic test and test of cycle I and II. The research findings showed that the mean score of the students’ speaking diagnostic test was 5.22 as categorized poor (low ability) while the mean score of the students’ speaking test in cycle I was 5.34. It had a significant progress but the result still did not reach the determined standard score 7, so the research was proceeded to the cycle II that the researcher gained the mean score 7.00 as categorized good. It showed that the latest progress in the cycle II had reached beyond the determined standard score and there was a significant improvement on the seventh grade students’ speaking skill on both pronunciation and self-confidence in the English teaching using Participation Point System Method at SMP Negeri 4 Baraka 2016/2017.

Abstract

Pasar modern semakin memberikan wujudnya yang beragam, baik dalam hal pelayanan, fasilitas, maupun model transaksi yang semakin mengalami pembaharuan. Minimarket merupakan salah satu jenis pasar modern yang sudah menjamur khususnya pada lingkungan masyarakat kota Makassar yang mengalami proses modernisasi yang begitu cepat.  Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi masyarakat terhadap pasar modern khusunya minimarket yang tersebar luas di lingkungan masyarakat kota Makassar. Metodologi penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik penelitian observasi, wawancara, teknik dokumentasi dari foto dan arsip yang dimiliki pemerintah setempat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persepsi masyarakat terhadap pasar modern di kota Makassar dalam hal fasilitas dan sistem pelayanan sangat baik dan menunjang kenyamanan konsumen dalam berbelanja, kualitasa barang baik dan harga barang yang terjangkau khususnya bagi masyarakat golongan menengah atas. Selain itu, keamanan dan kesehatan lingkungan pasar modern menurut masyarakat terjamin dengan baik serta promosi dan diskon harga barang sering dilakukan pasar tersebut sangat membantu masyarakat.

Abstract

This present study aimed at finding out the possible improvement of students’ writing skill through animation movie. Animation movie was used as media in the class. Classroom action research that consisted of three cycles was applied in this study. The data were collected through three meetings of cycle 1 and two meetings for each Cycle II and III. This study was held in SMA Negeri 8 Bulukumba (a Model School of Bulukumba). The result of the study shows that animation movies could easily improve the students’ skill in writing narrative text. The study indicated that there was the significant improvement of the students’ writing skill through animation movie. Conclusion based on the result analysis shows that the use of Animation Movie can improve writing skill at the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 8 Bulukumba.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate whether the use of Brain Based Teaching Method could improve students’ speaking skill at the tenth graders of SMK Informatika Komputer Mahardika Makassar. The subjects in this research were students of X.A as an experimental group and X.B as a control group which was 40 students in total. This research was an experimental research which was consisted of pretest, treatment and posttest. The result of the t-test value in the pre-test between experimental group and control group (0.312) was lower than t-table (2.025) and r value (0.231) was higher than 0.05. So, in the pre-test there is not any significance difference between experimental group and control group. The result of the t-test value in the post-test between experimental group and control group (4.712) was higher than t-table (2.025) and r value (0.015) was lower than 0.05. That statement then proved that H1 was accepted which stated that there is a significance difference between students who was taught by using BBT with those who is taught by using Direct Instruction method. Based on the research findings above, the researcher could conclude that the use of Brain Based Teaching method was effective to develop the English speaking skill of X Students of SMK Informatika Mahardika Makassar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menemukan unsur intrinsik cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Keera Kecamata Keera Kabupaten Wajo dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe Team Games Tournament (TGT), (2) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menemukan unsur intrinsik cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Keera Kecamata Keera Kabupaten Wajo dengan menggunakan model TGT, (3) membuktikan efektif tidaknya model kooperatif tipe TGT dalam menemukan unsur intrinsik cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Keera Kecamatan Keera Kabupaten Wajo. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian eksperimen murni. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Keera Kecamatan Keera Kabupaten Wajo berjumlah 34 orang yang terbagi ke dalam dua kelas. Sampel penelitian untuk kelas eksperimen yaitu 16 orang dan untuk kelas kontrol berjumlah 18 orang. Penarikan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik total sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan, yaitu observasi dan tes. Teknik yang digunakan untuk memeroleh data penelitian ini, yaitu teknik tes. Data yang terkumpul dalam penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial jenis uji t yang diolah dengan menggunakan program SPSS For Windows Versi 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (l) hasil kemampuan menemukan unsur intrinsik cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Keera Kecamatan Keera Kabupaten Wajo dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe TGT dikategorikan tinggi dan telah mencapai ketuntasan belajar. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai yang diperoleh siswa yaitu 85% siswa mampu mencapai nilai 75 ke atas, nilai 75 ke atas dicapai oleh 14 orang siswa, (2) hasil kemampuan menemukan unsur intrinsik cerpen siswa, dikategorikan sangat rendah dan belum mencapai ketuntasan belajar. Siswa yang memeroleh nilai 75 ke atas hanya 6 orang siswa atau 33,33%. (3) Model kooperatif tipe TGT efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran menemukan unsur intrinsik cerpen karena telah dibuktikan dengan hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung 4,385 > nilai t tabel 1,70. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (H1) penelitian yang diajukan diterima.

Abstract

The problem of this research consisted of how is the improvement at the students’ literal and interpretative reading comprehension through Think Aloud Strategy at the eighth grade of SMP Muhammdiyah Limbung? This research aimed to find out the improvement of the students’ literal comprehension and interpretative comprehension. The research is limited to improve the students’ comprehension in narrative text through Think Aloud Strategy on literal reading comprehension (the specific information and sequence events) and interpretative comprehension (conclusion and implication). To find out the improvement, the researcher used pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population was the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique and the total number of sample was 36 students. It employed of six meetings (one meeting for pre-test, four meetings for treatment, and one meeting for post-test). It employed reading test as instrument. The research findings indicated that the application of Think Aloud Strategy was effective in improving the students’ literal and interpretative reading comprehension. It was proved by the value of the t-test 19.91, which was higher than the value of t-table (2.030). This indicated that H1wasaccepted, and H0 was rejected and there was a significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension before and after using Think Aloud Strategy. It was concluded that Think Aloud Strategy improved the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

Eksistensi minuman ballo’ dalam masyarakat ada sejak dulu, yang sudah menjadi bagian tersendiri bagi masyarakat, meskipun awalnya jumlahnya hanya sedikit namun lama-kelamaan mengalami peningkatan yang sangat singnifikan yang dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti anomie, labeling, sosialisasi dan kontrol dalam  masyarakat. Eksintensi komunitas peminum ballo’ seperti adanya norma, hukum,  filosofis, stratifikasi, status dan peran. Terbentuknya komunitas peminum ballo’ dipengaruhi faktor kedekatan setiap anggota masyarakat dan kesamaan kebiasaan masyarakat. Sedangkan individu yang meminum ballo’ dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya faktor sosialisasi, labeling , anomi dan  kontrol sosial. Dampak positif kominutas peminum ballo’ sebagai wadah interaksi sosial, solidaritas sosial dan ekonomi keluarga sedangkan dampak negatifnya seperti kesehatan, konflik sosial, pendidikan dan hukum. Pengendalian sosial komunitas peminum ballo’ di dalam  masyarakat dapat dilakukan pemerintah, lembaga kepolisian dan lembaga adat sebagai control social yang mampu memberikan pengendalian secara persuasive dan koersif yang diharapkan mampu menertipkan anggota mayarakat yang melanggar aturan agar kehidupan masyarakat tertib, aman dan tentram (equilibrium).

Abstract

The study is aimed at investigating some factors contributing to the student’s success in performing English oral form in Ummul Mu’minin Islamic boarding school (UMIBS). It is also aimed at finding out the student’s language learning strategies; the student has to be successful in performing English oral form. The purpose of this research is to describe, explain, and explore issues associated with factors influencing the students’ success in performing English oral form in UMIBS. This research is located within a qualitative research paradigm and was a descriptive and explanatory in nature. In collecting data, the researcher used the following instrument: relevant documents, observation, checklist, questionnaires, and in-depth interview. The researcher observed a sixth-year student, Nur Aisyah Humaira (Mira), who had been successfully performed English oral form in many English competitions. The conclusion of this research are in learning to perform English oral form and learning foreign languages Mira intensively learned by certain preparations that she did almost every day. She used more of her deep level meta-cognitive strategies. Her top priority of English learning orientation, in general, was to travel abroad and to keep in touch with friends of her who were living in other countries where the main language was spoken was English.

Abstract

Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif bersifat eksplorasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengeksplorasi aktivitas guru dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya Bugis-Makassar, (2) mengeksplorasi aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya Bugis-Makassar, (3) mengetahui hasil belajar siswa, dan (4) mengetahui respon siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya Bugis-Makassar. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah: (1) lembar observasi aktivitas guru, (2) lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, (3) wawancara, (4) tes hasil belajar, (5) angket sosiometri, dan (6) angket respon siswa. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri No. 141 Pakka Kabupaten Sinjai tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 dengan membagi menjadi 7 kelompok secara heterogen selanjutnya diambil 1 kelompok untuk diamati secara keseluruhan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Aktivitas guru dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan menerapkan model BBM telah sesuai dengan langkah-langkah pada fase pembelajaran, meski perlu diperhatikan pada aspek penanaman siri’ masiri’ dan sipakatau guru terhadap siswa, (2) aktivitas siswa yang mengarah kepada bentuk siri’ terpenuhi secara keseluruhan untuk siswa kemampuan tinggi, bergantung pada guru untuk siswa kemampuan sedang, untuk siswa kemampuan rendah bergantung pada guru, lingkungan sekitar, serta situasi dari luar sekolah. Aktivitas yang mengarah pada sikap pacce’ dan abbulosibatang untuk siswa kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah terpenuhi secara keseluruhan. Aktivitas yang mengarah pada sikap sipakatau untuk siswa kemampuan tinggi terpenuhi secara keseluruhan, untuk siswa kemampuan sedang terpenuhi sebagian besar meski terdapat perbedaan antara siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan di mana siswa perempuan lebih memperlihatkan sikap sipakatau. Sedangkan siswa kemampuan rendah terpenuhi sebagian besar aktivitas sipakatau. (3) hasil belajar siswa setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya Bugis-Makassar meningkat, (4) respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya Bugis-Makassar secara umum berpendapat baik.

Abstract

This study aimed to explain the improvement of the students’writing ability through the implementation  of “Spider Web Extension ” technique  in teaching writing.The writer used a classroom action research principle to collect the data that consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four meetings. The location this research was taken at the eleventh grade students of  SMA Tridharma MKGR Makassar. The students‘ number of the class is 36 students and the class consist of 20 women and 16 men. The findings indicated that the implementation of Spider Web Extension technique could improve the students' ability in writing test. Before giving implementation the writer gave the students diagnostic test and the mean score of diagnostic test was 45.27. Then the writer conducted the first cycle and the second cycles, and the result showed that the students' scores in the first and second cycles improved. In the first cycle, the mean score of students was 58.8 , mean while the mean score of students in the second cycle was 71.1 It could be concluded that the improvement students‘ writing ability through Spider Web Extension Technique in terms of content and organization are significantly improved.
