Abstract

The research is aimed to know the students’ ability in using Independent and Dependent Clauses in Complex Sentences in class VI-A and VI-B at Bosowa University. The result of this research is expected to give benefits for the readers especially in using Independent and Dependent Clauses in Complex Sentences. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The populaton of this research is sixth semester students of Bosowa University in academic year 2015/2016 that have 65 students and the sampling of this research is quota sampling so, in this research the researcher take some of the students in the class which is consist of 30 students  from two classes and each class was took 15 students. The result of this research and explanation that the researcher got in Bosowa University is 6.6% students got very good category and 20% students got good category while 50% students got enough category and then 23.3 students got poor category. While the mean score of the students is 71.2. It indicates that students sixth semester enough ability in using Independent and dependent clauses in complex sentences.

Abstract

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) pengawasan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru adalah sebelum kepala sekolah melakukan pengawasan terhadap guru dengan cara teratur, guru tidak melaksanakan tugasnya dengan baik, dikarenakan kepala sekolah jarang melakukan pengawasan baik dengan cara observasi, kunjungan kelas maupun kunjungan antar kelas, sehingga tugas yang diberikan kepada guru tidak dikerjakan dengan maksimal, setelah menggunakan tiga teknik tersebut kepala sekolah dapat mengetahui masalah yang terjadi pada guru dan mengetahui bagaimana perkembangan guru dalam menjalankan tugasnya. 2) Kepala sekolah juga jarang memberikan penghargaan seperti memberikan bonus gaji dan bimbingan terhadap guru dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan, sehingga guru juga tidak termotivasi dan tidak mengetahui cara dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan yang terjadi pada diri pribadi guru, setelah kepala sekolah memberikan penghargaan, bimbingan atau pembinaan kepada guru, guru menjadi lebih giat dalam menjalankan tugas dan termotivasi dengan penghargaan yang diberikan oleh kepala sekolah serta dapat mengetahui cara dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan yang terjadi pada diri pribadi guru. 3) Faktor-faktor yang dihadapi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja guru yaitu: guru sering menutup diri, jarang berinteraksi dan komunikasi, dan guru tidak optomis atau tidak yakin dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengkaji dan menjelaskan seberapa besar pengaruh efikasi diri terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung (melalui regulasi diri), (2) mengkaji dan menjelaskan seberapa besar pengaruh metakognisi terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa  baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung (melalui regulasi diri). Jenis penelitian ini adalah ex-post facto yang bersifat kausalitas. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Kelas X SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Wajo tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 yang diambil dengan menggunakan proporsional stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan: (1) skala efikasi diri, (2) skala metakognisi, (3) skala regulasi diri, (4) nilai ujian semester siswa.  Data dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif dan analysis jalur (path anlysis). Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) sebagian besar siswa kelas X SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Wajo memiliki: efikasi diri, metakognisi, regulasi  diri dan prestasi belajar matematika dengan kategori sedang; (2) efikasi diri yang berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar matematika baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dan metakognisi yang berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar matematika baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Kata Kunci: Efikasi Diri, Metakognisi, Regulasi Diri dan Prestasi Belajar Matematika.

Abstract

The writer focused on problem statement into one question as follow: Can education environment develop students’ vocabulary of STIE Amkop Makassar?. This study aims to find out that education environment can develop students’ vocabulary of STIE Amkop Makassar. The significant of this study is expected to give useful information on English teaching and learning process, especially in learning English vocabulary based on education  environment. In this case the researcher used experimental as a research method, and She used random sampling technique in chooosing sample. Vocabulary test as research instrument, it consist of 20 items, then  pretest and posttest was used to collected data, statistic analysis as a techniques of data analysis. Based on the result of the data analysis and the discussion of the result in the previous chapter, the writer would like to put forward conclusion that the school environment is a good medium in teaching-learning process specially to develop students’ vocabulary of STIE Amkop Makassar.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out which is more dominant language used by the English lecturers in the learning process at English Department of FKIP UKI Toraja interactional or transactional, and in what situation interactional and transactional language used by the English lecturers in the learning process at English department of FKIP UKI Toraja. Descriptive qualitative and quantitative design is applied in this research to analyze the data. The data was analyzed was the script from the result of recording video in the learning process at English Department of FKIP UKI Toraja.The data was analyzed based on every utterance of lecturer in the learning process. The writer used snow ball method in choosing the sample of this research. The writer only took 5 lecturers as the sample from the total population was 21 lecturers.From the data analysis, the writer found that transactional language more dominant used by the English lecturers in the learning process. The result of this research shows that most of the lecturers used Transactional language in learning process then interactional. There are 1.194 utterances of the transactional language used by the lecturers in the learning process from the total number of utterances is 1.329. the transactional language used in a situation like greets student at beginning of the class, explain the topic, answer and giving the question and when lecturer gives example for the students. After conducting this study, it is expected to give the valuable contribution to the all lecturers in the learning process and can be more variation in using language. This research also is expected as additional knowledge and information for all people especially to the students that interested in conducting the similar study.  The writer does hope as language user: reader, writer, and whoever that want to study more about interactional and transactional language can be more improved.

Abstract

The research was aimed at finding out the students’ pronunciation achievement at the second year students of SMK Negeri 1 Limbung by using YouTube Videos, and finding out whether or not using YouTube Videos is effective to improve students’ pronunciation. The design of the research was pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. It aimed at find out whether YouTube videos developed students’ pronunciation after gave treatments or not. The research applied pre-experimental method, with pre-test and post-test to one experimental group. The population of the research was the second year students of SMK Negeri 1 Limbung in academic year 2014-2015. The XII/A class consists of 15students and XII/B class consist of 20 students. The number of population was 35 students. This research used the purposive sampling technique that is carries out by choosing one class to represent all the population. Class XII/A as sample of the research consists of 15 students. Based on the result of data analysis and the discussion of the result in the previous chapter, the researcher concludes that (1) YouTube Videos gives the students’ achievement in improving pronunciation. It is proven by 53% of improvement which indicates that the mean score of post-test ( ) is higher than the mean score pre-test (52), and (2) YouTube Videos is effective to improve the students’ pronunciation. It is proved by  improvement which indicates that the mean score of post-test ( ) is higher than the mean score of pre-test (52). It also can be seen from the result of t-test is greater (8.5) than t-table (2.14). That means there is the significance different by using YouTube Videos in teaching pronunciation. In the other word there is the improvement of the students’ pronunciation through YouTube Videos in teaching process.

Abstract

The Students’ attitude toward Lecturers in EFL Classroom at University of Muhammadiyah of Makassar. The objectives of this research were: to find out the students’ attitude toward lecturer’s explanation at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This research was employed descriptive Quantitative. The participants of this research are 40 students in B class and 1 Lecturer at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. The result of the research was collected through the use of Questionnaires, and then it was calculated and transcribed to be analyzed. The questionnaire that distributed to 40 students consists of 20 items close-ended and 1 open-ended question. The result showed that the students have good attitudes or not good attitude toward lecturers’ explanation at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar.

Abstract

This research aimed to verify The Effectiveness of Picture and Picture Model in improving the students’ writing skills that focused on Content and Organization. The writer applied Pre-Experimental Method with One Group Pretest Post-test Design, and collected the data by giving Pre-test, treatment and Post-test. The sample of the research was Class VIII A of SMPN 2 Pangkajene which consisted of 23 students. The sample was taken by using Purposive Sampling Technique. The research findings showed that the 8th students of SMPN 2 Pangkajene had poor score in Pre-test. After treatment, their writing skills was significantly increase. The result of the research were the mean score of content obtained by the students through Pre-test was 55 and Post-test was 75 with the t-test value Content is greater than t-table (8.196> 2, 07387). Mean score of Organization Pre-test 51 and Post-test 74 with the t-test value organization is greater than t-table (10,106> 2, 07387). The Hypothesis Testing also was done by using SPSS 23 and showed that Sig (2-tailed) lower than level of significance (, 000 < 0.05). It means that there is significance difference between before and after giving the treatment. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded that the use of Picture and Picture Model in writing activity could improve the students writing skills in Recount Text exactly in making good Content and Organization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran matematika melalui penerapan pendekatan Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Polombangkeng Utara tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pra-eksperimen yang melibatkan satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen. Penelitian ini mengacu pada 3 aspek kriteria keefektivan pembelajaran, yaitu: (1) ketuntasan belajar secara individu dan klasikal, (2) aktivitas siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran, dan (3) respons siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah The One Group Pretest Posttest. Satuan eksperimennya adalah siswa Kelas  SMP Negeri 1 Polombangkeng Utara Kabupaten Takalar dengan perlakuan pendekatan pembelajaran Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI). Instrument penelitian yang digunakan adalah: (1) tes hasil belajar, (2) lembar observasi untuk mengamati aktivitas siswa, dan (3) angket respons siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) skor rata-rata tes hasil belajar matematika siswa sebelum diterapkan pendekatan pembelajaran Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) adalah 34,31 dan berada pada kategori sangat rendah dimana 29 siswa atau 100% tidak mencapai ketuntasan individu dan ini berarti bahwa ketuntasan secara klasikal tidak tercapai. (2) skor rata-rata hasil belajar matematika siswa setelah diterapkan pendekatan pembelajaran Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) adalah 79,17 dan berada pada kategori sedang dimana 25 siswa atau 86% mencapai ketuntasan individu, 4 siswa atau 14% tidak mencapai ketuntasan individu dan ini berarti ketuntasan secara klasikal tercapai. (3) rata-rata persentase aktivitas siswa untuk setiap indikator telah mencapai kriteria aktif (4) angket respons siswa menunjukkan bahwa respons siswa terhadap  pendekatan pembelajaran Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) positif yakni 94% Dengan demikian pendekatan pembelajaran Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) efektif diterapkan dalam pembelajaran matematika materi Persamaan Garis Lurus pada siswa kelas VIII  SMP Negeri 1 Polombangkeng Utara Kabupaten Takalar.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out the achievement and interest of Chunking technique in improving reading comprehension at the ninth grade of SMP Negeri 36 Makassar. The specific objectives of the research were to find out whether or not the using of Chunking technique can improve students comprehension in reading and to find out the students’ interest in learning reading comprehension by use of Chunking technique. The research method employed quasi-experimental research. The samples consist of 58 students which belonged to two groups; 28 students in experimental group and 28 students in control group. The data of the research were found using two kinds of instruments; the test of reading for the students’ comprehension in reading and questionnaire of students’ interest which were analyzed by SPSS version 17.0 The research result indicated that: (1) using of Chunking technique has a significant effect to improve the reading comprehension of the ninth grade of SMP Negeri 36 Makassar. The students’ result of posttest for experimental group was higher than the students’ result posttest for control group. It was proven by showing the result of the mean score of posttest of experimental was higher than the control group in reading comprehension (78.04 > 66.54). It means that by applying of Chunking technique improved the students reading comprehension. This research also found that (2) the students’ interest toward Chunking technique is high. Most of the students were interested in learning reading comprehension toward Chunking technique.
