Focus and Scope WASKITA: Jurnal Pendidikan Nilai dan Pembangunan Karakter is published by the Center of Character Building Subject, Brawijaya University. WASKITA has been published offline since July 2017 and online since April 2019. In the next publication, this journal will be published twice a year on April and on October. WASKITA accepts research and conceptual papers related to values education and character building. Those values are mores, philosophical, religious, social, linguistic and literature, civil and nationalistic values. This journal also accepts literature review, book review, in depth interview of influential figure or seminar note related to values education and character building.

Abstract

Indonesia has many diversities in many aspects. It is not only about hav- ing various ethnics but also many cultures, languages, as well as reli- gions. The diversity must be framed in the spirit of unity in diversities by internalizing the value ofpeace  as the embodiment of diversity. This review discusses the internalization ofpeace  values through peace educa- tion as a strengthening of character building in heterogeneous societies in Indonesia. This discussion covers the concept of values internalization, peace education, education policy, in heterogeneous societies and the ur- gency ofpeace  education recently. The main issues of this study are how to internalize the value ofpeace  education through peace education in educational institutions and the urgency ofpeace  education in hetero- geneous societies in Indonesia and how to strengthen nation character development through peace education in order to create a peaceful life in this country.The purpose of this study is to describe the internalization of the peace value through peace education of the urgency ofpeace  education in the context of heterogeneous communities in Indonesia and to describe the strengthening of character building through peace education in heteroge- neous societies in Indonesia to create a peaceful and safe life. The result of this study shows that the internalization ofpeace  values can be done by integrating the peace value through peace education, both using Religion, and Pancasila and Civil subject. The national education policy has also provided a space for heterogeneity of Indonesian society.However the policy has not explicitly put forward peace education as an effort to maintain the harmony of national diversity. Therefore the edu- cation ofpeace  should be put forward to strengthen the development of the heterogeneous ofI ndonesian character.

Abstract

The title of this research is The Spirituality of Komunitas Tritunggal Mahakudus Yogyakarta in the Perspective Gustavo Gutierrez’s Theology of Liberation. Progress of science and technology, globalization climate cause human being to have individualistic and materialism point of views. Social solidarity in modern times began to decrease so that the role religious of community to develop the spiritual life and social life is necessary. Gustavo Gutierrez’s theology of liberation inspires the social solidarity to increase faith in the social praxis and realization. The result of this research: religious community to improve vertical relation and horizontal relation such as Komunitas Tritunggal Mahakudus Yogyakarta. Religious community is not necessary in improving the spiritual aspect but also the real work or caring for the poor. Gustavo Gutierrez’s theology of liberation connects the praxis in commitment, pray, contemplation, action and theology.Gustavo Gutierrez’s theology of liberation inspires the religious communities to act in concrete way for the environment especially the poor.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Berbasis Kehidupan (PBK) adalah proses pemerolehan pengetahuan dan kecakapan dalam memahami hakikat kehidupan, memecahkan masalah kehidupan, dan menjalani kehidupan secara be- rimbang dan harmonis. PBK merupakan bentuk ekologi pembelajaran yang kontekstual-integratif-holistik antara diri pribadi, pekerjaan, kel- uarga, dan pemanfaatan waktu luang. PBK dilaksanakan dalam rang- ka (1) mengembangkan kapabilitas (kemampuan dan kemauan); (2) menjalin interaksi dinamis dan seimbang antara institusi penyelenggara pendidikan, lingkungan, dan masyarakat tempat peserta didik hidup; (3) mengakui dan menghargai perbedaan setiap individu; (4) menum- buhkan tanggung jawab belajar pada diri peserta didik, dan (5) men- jadikan institusi penyelenggara pendidikan sebagai pencipta lingkungan terbaik pelaksanaan pembelajaran.

Abstract

Tujuan penulisan adalah untuk menganalisis penelitian di kalangan akademis tentang etika komunikasi mahasiswa dan dosen dalam perspektif akademis revolusi 4.0. hubungan antara dosen dengan mahasiswa dalam konsep mempermudah proses belajar mengajar maupun bimbingan. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatifdengan pendekatan fenomenologis di kampus. Sebagai informan utama adalah dua orang mahasiswa yang sedang mengerjakan skripsi atau tesis dan satu dosen yang memiliki hubungan bimbingan skripsi atau tesis dengan mahasiswanya. Hasil penelitian memberikan kesimpulan bahwa Komunikasi dalam revolusi 4.0 mengalami perubahan signifikan antara perilaku dan bahasa yang memunculkan budaya yang seringkali tidak sesuai dengan identitas akademis yang mengedepankan etika dan sopan santun jangan sampai terjebak pada berita hoax baik bidang politik maupun sosial, maka dalam dunia akademis perlu adanya peraturan dan contoh dalam berkomunikasi antara dosen dan mahasiswa, agar konsep pendidikan, identitas, dan karakter bangsa Indonesia tetap terjaga sopan santun dan serta mengedepankan nilai-nilai filosofi bangsa sebagai generasi penerus dalam menghadapi jaman milenial, sehingga tidak terjebak pada sisi negatif digitalisasi dalam dunia akademis. Diharapkan mahasiswa mampu berhadapan dengan tantangan hoax pada milenial.

Abstract

Folklore is a traditional story to convey the noble values of a region to the future generations which are delivered using spoken language. The focus of this study are (1) the motifs and variations of Malin Kundang folklore in various ASEAN countries, (2) the function of folklore as the guardian of ASEAN social integrity, and (3) educational value of folklore as the guardian of ASEAN social integrity. This study used a qualitative approach with ethnography of communication design. The main data in this study are the words and actions which are delivered by the speakers used in folklore. The data collection method used in this research is focused observation. The data were analyzed by sorting, selecting, and interpreting the data. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded that (1) the motif of "Malin Kundang" and its versions are (a) a teenager from a poor family, (b) the teenager ventured into the land, (c) he /she became successful and married with the child of a rich merchant, (d) the young merchant traded to his/her hometown, (e) the mother got to hear the return of herchild, (f) the child was embarrassed to have old and poor mother , (g) the mother was sad and disappointed at her child, (h) the mother prayed to God, (i) the God granted the mother’s prayer, (j) the child realized his/her mistake, and (k) the child is punished by God as a rock; (2) the function of Malay folklore in maintaining integrity of ASEAN society are (a) assisting the education of young people, (b) increasing the feeling of group solidarity, and (c) giving social sanction that people have to well behave; and (3) the educational values developed from Malin Kundang and the versions are (a) the Malay society should be obedient to the parents, (b) the Malay societyshould not be haughty, and (c) Malay community should be accept the God’s decision.

Abstract

The impact of globalization can be seen from the emergence of some of the interesting phenomenon that afflicts young people, especially children in Indonesia. Various problems that characterize the world of education makes the noble values and behaviors wisdom as torpor. Efforts to es- tablish the character of the child to do one through children’s literature. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This article studies focus on the role of children’s literature in the formation of char- acter and learning of children’s literature relevant to build the character of students at the elementary level. Learning about the character of dis- cipline, honesty, responsibility, admit mistakes, religious, and others will be more effective if delivered through stories with characters that charac- ter. Through literature, the child will also be directed to think logically about the causal relations and childbirth imagination will significantly correlated with creativity so that children will be able to think creative- ly (creative thinking) to always be productive. As a form to convey or inject character education to students in literature there are some efforts that can be done by educators. Educators reveal the values contained in children’s literature with direct integration of character values are an integral part of these subjects. Literature learning in primary schools can be classified in three groups, namely; fiction learning, learning poetry, drama and learning.

Abstract

Memahami Demokrasi Indonesia tak bisa dilepaskan dari kenyataan sosio-kultural masyarakat. Masyarakat Indonesia adalah masyarakat multikultural. Realitas masyarakat ini sudah ada bahkan jauh sebelum negara Republik Indonesia didirikan. Rupa kebudayaan yang beragam terwujud dalam budaya-budaya daerah. Di masa kolonial, pemerintah Hindia-Belanda turut melestarikan dan mengembangkan budaya daerah antara lain dengan mendirikan Java-Instituut, Batak Instituut, serta Bali Instituut. Di era kolonial, juga telah berlangsung 7 kali kongres kebudayaan (KK). Setelah Indonesia merdeka, terjadi revolusi nasional yang memunculkan ide tentang budaya nasional. Di era orde lama, keberagaman budaya, dalam demokrasi terpimpin, digunakan sebagai alat untuk tujuan revolusi. Sedangkan di era orde baru, budaya-budaya daerah, dalam demokrasi pancasila, diarahkan untuk mendukung program pembangunan. Serta, keberagaman budaya daerah berusaha untuk diintegrasikan demi menunjang integrasi/persatuan nasional. Kemudian di era reformasi, dalam iklim demokrasi liberal, individu dan atau komunitas budaya mendapatkan hak-hak kebudayaan, antara lain hak-hak tradisional, hukum adat serta tanah ulayat. Di tingkat daerah turut terwujud otonomi khusus seperti provinsi Aceh dan Papua Barat. Kesadaran akan kekayaan budaya dalam masyarakat multikultural turut mendorong lahirnya UU Pemajuan Kebudayaan. Dalam hal ini, kebudayaan dipandang sebagai modal bagi pemberdayaan masyarakat yang perlu untuk dilindungi, dimanfaatkan, dibina serta dikembangkan.

Abstract

AbstrakKonstruksi identitas Tengger dimulai ketika Mpu Sendok memberikan hak swatantra melalui Prasasti Muncang. Pada abad ke-14, Raja Hayam Wuruk memperkuat konstruksi tersebut melalui Prasasti Penanjakan. Di zaman kolonialisme Eropa, masyarakat Tengger mulai mengalami benturan identitas dengan masyarakat Madura yang didatangkan oleh VOC sebagai tenaga kerja. Abad ke-19, rezim Orde Baru mengkonstruksi identitas Tengger dengan memberlakukan kebijakan formalisasi agama melalui PP No. 1 Tahun 1965 dan UU No. 5 Tahun 1969. Orde Baru juga meratakan seluruh sistem pemerintahan desa dan menghilangkan hak asal-usul desa melalui UU No. 5 tahun 1979 tentang Desa. Sejak ratifikasi regulasi tersebut, Suku Tengger harus mengalami akulturasi dan sinkretisme identitas. Konsekuensinya mereka harus menerima kehadiran lembaga agama disamping lembaga desa adat dan lembaga desa dinas. Pasca-refromasi, pemerintah mengkonstruksi identitias Tengger dengan kebijakan desentralisasi melalui UU No. 23 tahun 2014 tentang Pemerintah Daerah dan UU No. 6 Tahun 2014 tentang Desa.
