Abstract

This study aims to describe self-control among adolescent online game gamers in Medan Marelan District. This study uses a quantitative descriptive research method. The subjects of this study were adolescent online game gamers in Medan Marelan District. The number of samples was 45 people. The data collection technique used the Incidental technique. The data collection technique employed a Likert scale model, incorporating a self-control scale. Data analysis used descriptive Frequency. The results of the data analysis showed a high level of self-control, namely 62% of respondents, 38% were in the medium category, and none were classified as low. The empirical mean value of self-control was 70.91, higher than the hypothetical mean of 58, with a standard deviation of 12, which indicates that, in general, adolescents have good self-control abilities in dealing with the urge to play games. In addition, the reliability of the self-control scale shows an Alpha coefficient value of 0.857, which means it has high internal consistency. The results of the analysis show that even though teenagers actively play online games, the majority of them are still able to control themselves well, both in terms of behavior, cognition, and decision-making.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of self-concept on the self-confidence of secondary school students through a narrative literature review. Self-confidence is a crucial aspect of adolescents’ psychological development, and it can be shaped by how individuals perceive and evaluate themselves (self-concept). This research employed a literature review method by analyzing 16 national scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. The findings reveal that a positive self-concept significantly contributes to enhancing students' self-confidence in both academic and social aspects. Several external factors, such as family support, school environment, and guidance counseling, were found to strengthen the development of a healthy self-concept. This review contributes to the synthesis of previous findings, providing a comprehensive understanding of the importance of self-concept reinforcement in education. The conclusion emphasizes that strengthening self-concept through a holistic approach can be an effective strategy to improve self-confidence among secondary school students

Abstract

The Bumble app, with its key feature of giving women control over initiating conversations, has become popular among teenagers and adults as a new way to find partners. This study aims to analyze the alignment of expectations and experiences of users of the Bumble dating app, based on the social penetration theory framework. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods through interviews and observations, examining factors influencing user motivation, such as effectiveness, efficiency, accessibility, and ease of use, as well as challenges faced. The results indicate a gap between user expectations and the reality of Bumble usage. While issues such as identity theft, ghosting, security threats, and shallow communication contribute to a less-than-desirable user experience, enhanced features that provide more options for women have been shown to increase feelings of safety, comfort, and happiness. For online dating apps to better serve their users' needs

Abstract

This article aims to explore the housekeeping experience in using checklists and electronic reporting systems at Renaissance Okinawa Resort. The issue is focused on how these two instruments support work efficiency, data accuracy, and service quality in the housekeeping department. To approach this problem, the study applies operational management and hospitality technology theories. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with housekeeping staff, supervisors, and managers, as well as direct observations of daily activities, and were analyzed qualitatively using a thematic approach. The findings indicate that conventional checklists still serve an essential function as procedural control tools, while electronic reporting systems provide advantages in terms of speed, transparency, and real-time monitoring. The integration of both instruments was proven to enhance staff professionalism, strengthen interdepartmental coordination, minimize recording errors, and accelerate guest complaint handling. This study concludes that the combination of manual checklists and digital systems represents an effective strategy for achieving modern, accountable, and service-oriented housekeeping performance in the hospitality industry.

Abstract

Land sale and purchase transactions are a form of land rights transfer that is legally regulated in Indonesian legislation, particularly in Government Regulation No. 24 of 1997 concerning Land Registration. One of the requirements for the validity of land rights transfer is the creation of a deed by a Land Deed Official (PPAT). However, in practice, there are still land sale and purchase transactions that do not involve a PPAT, which are only carried out privately between the parties. This study aims to analyze the legal implications of such transactions, both in terms of the validity of the transfer of rights, the strength of evidence, and the potential for legal disputes in the future. The research method used is normative juridical with a legislative approach and case studies. The results of the study show that land sale and purchase transactions that do not involve a PPAT do not have formal legal force to be registered with the land office, thus potentially causing legal uncertainty and ownership disputes. In addition, buyers are also in a vulnerable position because they do not have valid administrative proof of ownership. Therefore, the parties need to understand the applicable legal procedures so that land rights can be recognized and protected by law.

Abstract

This study analyzes the kafala system in the Middle East, which is often regarded as a form of modern slavery against migrant workers. While the system has been examined from various perspectives, this research focuses on the relationship between the kafala system and Middle Eastern culture, as well as the influence of cultural factors on its persistence and implementation in the contemporary era. The study employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach based on secondary data, including books, journal articles, and international reports. The theoretical framework used is the Cultural Lag Theory developed by William Ogburn (1922). The analysis reveals that the current kafala system is a combination of traditional Middle Eastern cultural practices and the legacy of British colonialism during the 1970s, which has since evolved over time. Despite widespread international criticism, the system persists due to cultural values in the Middle East that support social hierarchy and control over foreign workers. Various reforms have been implemented to improve the welfare of migrant workers. This study affirms that understanding cultural factors is crucial in formulating a policy analysis basis and diplomatic strategies to strengthen the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the influence of leadership style and interpersonal communication on employee performance satisfaction at Hotel Asri Podomoro. The problem is focused on the extent to which these two independent variables can enhance employee performance in the hospitality industry context. The study is based on theories of human resource management, leadership, and organizational communication. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees using purposive sampling and analyzed quantitatively with multiple linear regression. The results indicate that leadership style has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, where leaders who provide direction, role models, and motivation encourage higher work quality. Interpersonal communication was also found to have a more dominant effect, as openness, empathy, and mutual respect foster a harmonious work environment that supports productivity. This study concludes that the combination of appropriate leadership style and effective interpersonal communication is a key factor in improving performance satisfaction. Therefore, human resource management in the hospitality industry should emphasize leadership and communication quality in addition to technical skills.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a critical requirement for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen competitiveness in the digital economy. This study analyzes government–community collaboration in fostering digital innovation among MSMEs in Makassar City, Indonesia. A qualitative case study was conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving MSME actors, government officials, and community leaders. The findings indicate that government programs mainly provide regulatory frameworks and resource support, while communities contribute social capital, participation, and locally adaptive practices. MSMEs increasingly use digital platforms for marketing, financial management, and customer networking. However, persistent challenges remain, including limited infrastructure, uneven digital literacy, and fragmented institutional coordination. This study highlights the relevance of collaborative governance in integrating state policies with community initiatives to accelerate MSME digital transformation. The practical implications include the need for more targeted digital literacy training, the establishment of community-based innovation hubs, and long-term partnership models to ensure sustainable digital ecosystems. Theoretically, the study contributes to discussions on governance and digital innovation in developing economies by contextualizing collaborative practices within a mid-sized Indonesian city.

Abstract

This study examines adaptive cyber law enforcement strategies to address digital crime in Bone Regency, a non-metropolitan area facing regulatory limitations, coordination challenges, and low digital literacy. A qualitative case study approach was employed through interviews with 15 stakeholders, including law enforcement officials, government representatives, legal practitioners, and academics, supplemented with observations and document analysis. The findings reveal four key issues: outdated regulations that do not cover emerging crimes such as deepfakes and encrypted fraud; weak inter-agency coordination caused by slow communication and the absence of standard procedures; limited technical capacity due to a shortage of digital forensic personnel and inadequate infrastructure; and low community awareness that increases vulnerability to cybercrime. Despite these obstacles, adaptive measures were identified, including collaboration with external institutions, local resource mobilization, and community-based education. The study recommends regulatory updates, capacity-building for law enforcement, standardized coordination mechanisms, and inclusive digital literacy programs. These strategies are essential to strengthen cyber law enforcement in non-metropolitan areas and inform policy at both local and national levels.
