Abstract

Patients in the emergency room (ER) often experience anxiety due to acute or severe pain, which may indicate a life-threatening condition, leading them to expect immediate treatment from nurses. Nurse response time plays a critical role in saving patients and has a direct impact on their anxiety levels. Patients who experience delays in receiving services from healthcare providers may feel afraid and worried about their condition. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between nurse response time and patient anxiety in the ER at the Dinoyo Health Center, Malang City. The study employed a correlation research design using a cross-sectional approach. The population included all 50 patients in the ER, with a sample of 47 patients selected using systematic random sampling techniques. The independent variable was response time, while the dependent variable was patient anxiety. The instruments included response time observation sheets and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results indicated that the majority of nurses exhibited good response times (70.2%), and the majority of patients reported no anxiety or were within the normal range (63.8%). A significant relationship was found between nurse response time and patient anxiety within p-value = 0.000 (0.05). Suggestions for future research include identifying patient anxiety levels in the ER based on factors such as the level of emergency, payment method, and availability of family assistance.

Abstract

The Indonesian Red Cross is responsible for the distribution of blood products to hospital blood banks. The daily blood distribution route will vary due to the fact that the number of blood requests and the number of hospital blood banks vary on a daily basis. The implementation of a cold chain system is one method of optimizing blood distribution and transportation activities. The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the temperature and quality of PRC components in relation to their delivery time and distance. This research method is quantitative-descriptive. The population of this study consisted of all blood that was donated to the hospital blood bank in Sidoarjo Regency between October and November 2022. The blood sample used in this study was collected from the UDD PMI Sidoarjo Regency. The sampling technique of accidental sampling would be employed to visually identify the quality of PRC and temperature. The results of this study indicated that 460 PRC bags were delivered to three hospital blood banks in the UDD PMI Sidoarjo Regency. The PRC did not experience lysis, and 50 bags (10.86%) of the 460 PRC bags experienced a temperature change of over 10 °C. Conclusion: The temperature of the dropped PRC components is influenced by the delivery time and distance. The SOP must be strictly adhered to by all officers who distribute and transport blood to guarantee that the quality of the blood remains in good condition.

Abstract

During labor, pain can lead to hyperventilation, increasing oxygen demand and blood pressure while reducing intestinal motility and bladder function. This situation triggers the release of catecholamines, potentially interfering with uterine contractions and causing uterine inertia, leading to prolonged labor. To address this, a pre-experimental study using a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted among 30 birth mothers from the Rejoso Health Center, Pasuruan Regency. The study employed total sampling, and data analysis utilized the Independent sample t-test to evaluate the impact of counterpressure massage techniques on pain reduction during the first active phase of labor. The research revealed a significant effect, indicated by a p-value of 0.004 0.05, demonstrating the effectiveness of counterpressure massage in reducing pain during the initial active phase of labor for women in the Rejoso Health Center area. Consequently, it is recommended that laboring women experiencing pain be offered the counterpressure massage technique

Abstract

Stunting is a condition where children under the age of 5 cannot grow properly due to chronic malnutrition, leading to them being too short for their age. The aim of this study is to analyze factors related to the growth and development delay of toddlers in the Syamtalira Aron Community Health Center. The research design used a cross-sectional correlational approach on the population of mothers with stunted toddlers in the working area of the Syamtalira Aron Community Health Center. The sampling technique employed total sampling, and 38 mother-child pairs with stunting were obtained as research respondents. Data collection took place from October 18 to 29, 2021. The data were analyzed using Fisher's exact test (α=95%). The results showed a correlation between the mother's height (p = 0.014), family income (p = 0.000), and exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.033) with the prevalence of stunting in toddlers. Meanwhile, the variable not associated was the mother's educational level (p = 0.062). In conclusion, the research indicates a correlation between the mother's height, family income, and exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in toddlers. It is recommended that relevant authorities collaborate to prevent stunting early on. Mothers are encouraged to proactively engage in preventive efforts by increasing knowledge and awareness to control pregnancy, understanding how to achieve and meet the nutritional needs of toddlers, ensuring that the process of toddler growth and development is optimized.

Abstract

The aging process in the elderly population can lead to changes in body posture, often resulting in kyphosis, which exacerbates postural balance disorders. This study aims to determine the relationship between kyphosis posture incidence and postural balance disorders among the elderly in Jebres, Surakarta. The research design employed was an observational analytic correlation with a cross-sectional design, utilizing purposive sampling techniques. The independent variable was kyphosis, while the dependent variable was balance disorders. The instruments used included the Unteberger test for assessing balance and the Occiput-to-Wall distance test for measuring kyphosis. Results from the study revealed that out of 67 respondents from a total population of 75 elderly individuals, 30 (44.77%) experienced kyphosis, with 23 (34.32%) presenting hyper kyphosis. Additionally, 53 (79.10%) respondents exhibited balance disorders, while 14 (20.89%) did not have kyphosis or balance disorders. Bivariate analysis using the Spearman rho test demonstrated a significant correlation between Balance Disorders and Kyphosis Posture, with a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.001 and a correlation coefficient of 0.759. The relationship between these two variables was found to be unidirectional, indicating a significant association between the incidence of kyphosis posture and postural balance disorders in the elderly in Jebres, Surakarta. For future research, it is recommended to further explore the specific magnitude of kyphosis angles and their impact on postural balance disturbances

Abstract

Burnout is a phenomenon commonly found in nurses, arising from chronic work fatigue. It is a detrimental and impactful syndrome that affects not only the individual, but also the organization and the patients. This study aims to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome in nurses working in hospital wards. The research design used is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study comprises 78 nurses who worked in the inpatient room of a private hospital in Malang Regency. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data were collected using the MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory) questionnaire which contains 22 items designed to assess burnout symptoms in health workers. The MBI measures three indicators of burnout: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. The value ranges for low, medium, and high risk are 0–18, 19–26, and 26 for emotional exhaustion; 0–5, 6–9, 9 for depersonalization; and 0-33, 34–39, 39 for reduced personal accomplishment. Burnout is determined if emotional exhaustion and Depersonalization are both "high", or if emotional exhaustion is "high" and personal accomplishment is "low". The results of this study showed that 7.7% of nurses experienced burnout, 71.8% of nurses experienced symptoms of emotional exhaustion in the low category, all respondents experienced symptoms of depersonalization in the low category, and symptoms of self-achievement as many as 52.6% of nurses are in the low category. The conclusion of this research is that only a few respondents experienced burnout. However, the risk of burnout still exists, as indicated by the low personal accomplishment among respondents. Identifying factors that influence burnout can help to better understand this phenomenon nurses.

Abstract

The presence of comorbid diseases has become a crucial concern in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic, underscoring the need for the implementation of GERMAS (Healthy Living Movement) policy as a preventive measure initiated by the government. GERMAS aims to control the increase in non-communicable disease cases, which have the potential to disrupt human resources and productivity, as well as negatively impact social and economic development. In its implementation, GERMAS must adhere to the principles of Good Governance to ensure transparency, community participation, accountability, effectiveness, efficiency, responsiveness, and consensus. This research aims to analyze Transparency, Participation, Accountability, Effectiveness and Efficiency, Responsiveness, and Consensus. This research employs a qualitative approach with a narrative method and in-depth interviews with 12 informants. While GERMAS has been implemented since the President's directive in 2017, there are still several challenges in enhancing its effectiveness. Analysis of Good Governance principles highlights issues such as lack of community participation, low transparency and inter-agency coordination, and insufficient attention to inactive GERMAS forums. Further research is needed to deepen understanding of GERMAS implementation in Kutai Barat, focusing on aspects such as inter-sectoral communication, community participation, and enhancement of accountability of relevant agencies. Concrete steps such as comprehensive performance audits and increased social media outreach can help improve policy implementation.
