Abstract

This scoping review aimed to explore the influence of exercise habits and age at menarche on the incide nce of dysmenorrhea among adolescents. This study used a scoping review approach by searching articles from PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases. Articles were selected based on quantitative research designs, publication within the last ten years (2015–2025), language availability, and relevance to adolescent populations. Data extraction included article characteristics, research methods, and main findings. Of 662 records identified, 21 reports were included in the final synthesis. Physical-activity-related findings appeared in 11 of 21 studies (52.4%); five studies (23.8%) evaluated structured exercise interventions, five (23.8%) addressed nutrition/BMI/lifestyle factors, and four (19.0%) addressed psychological factors. Low physical activity generally corresponded with greater dysmenorrhea, whereas stretching, dysmenorrhea exercise, yoga, Pilates, and massage reduced pain. Associations with age at menarche and BMI were less consistent. Anemia, menstrual characteristics, stress, anxiety, and depression also contributed. JBI appraisal classified 17 studies (81.0%) as Grade A or B and four (19.0%) as Grade C or D. Overall, dysmenorrhea is multifactorial; regular physical activity and integrated physical-mental health support are reasonable priorities, although methodological heterogeneity limits certainty.

Abstract

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by multisystem inflammation that predominantly affects women of reproductive age. Genetic factors, particularly polymorphisms within the interleukin-10 (IL-10) promoter region, have been implicated in disease susceptibility through their influence on cytokine expression and immune regulation. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the association between IL-10 promoter polymorphisms and SLE susceptibility across different populations. A systematic literature search was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines using Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, SagePub, and Wiley Online Library for studies published between 2005 and 2025. Eligible case-control studies investigating IL-10 promoter polymorphisms in SLE were included. Of 82 records identified, 12 studies met the eligibility criteria, comprising 2,462 patients with SLE and 3,274 healthy controls. Most studies reported significant associations between SLE susceptibility and the IL-10 promoter polymorphisms −1082A/G, −819C/T, and −592C/A. The GCC haplotype was the most consistently reported risk haplotype and was frequently associated with increased IL-10 expression and greater susceptibility to SLE. Overall, current evidence supports the contribution of IL-10 promoter polymorphisms to genetic susceptibility to SLE across diverse populations.

Abstract

Beneng taro flour is a hygroscopic food powder susceptible to quality deterioration during storage. This study evaluated the effects of Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) and densified dry bacterial cellulose on its physicochemical and microbiological stability. Five treatments were investigated: air (P1), 100% N₂ (P2), 100% O₂ (P3), 100% N₂ + bacterial cellulose (P4), and 100% O₂ + bacterial cellulose (P5) during 12 weeks of storage. Two-way ANOVA of log₁₀-transformed Total Plate Count (TPC) showed significant effects of packaging treatment, storage time, and their interaction (P < 0.05). At week 12, P2 and P4 exhibited the lowest TPC values, at 263 ± 116 and 387 ± 131 CFU/g, respectively. Moisture content was significantly negatively correlated with Log₁₀ TPC (r = −0.350, P = 0.0186), whereas ash content showed a positive but non-significant correlation (r = 0.281, P = 0.0616). Multiple linear regression showed that moisture and ash contents jointly explained 59.2% of the variation in Log₁₀ TPC (R² = 0.592, P < 0.001). Overall, nitrogen-based MAP was associated with improved microbiological stability of Beneng taro flour, while densified dry bacterial cellulose showed potential as a complementary moisture-management component.

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (HAp, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is a primary constituent of bones and teeth. It has also been widely developed as a promising adsorbent for removing heavy metals. In this study, Pb(II) removal was achieved via adsorption using HAp. Quail eggshell waste served as the calcium source for HAp synthesis, while NH4H2PO4 provided the phosphate source. A microwave-assisted method was used to improve time and energy efficiency and obtain high-purity, homogeneous HAp. This study optimizes Pb(II) removal parameters using the batch adsorption method. Characterization of HAp before and after Pb(II) ion adsorption was performed using XRF, XRD, and SEM-EDX. HAp was successfully synthesized with a Ca/P molar ratio of 1.69. The study determined that optimal Pb(II) removal occurred at pH 5, with a concentration of 1100 mg/L and a contact time of 60 minutes, yielding an adsorption capacity of 499.334 mg/g and removal efficiency of 90.788%. The Langmuir isotherm model and the PSO kinetic model described the Pb(II) removal process. The material was tested on water samples from the Batang Arau River estuary, specifically near the Siti Nurbaya Bridge, achieving a removal efficiency of 89.86%. Producing HAp from quail eggshell waste using the microwave-assisted method proved effective for the adsorption of Pb(II).

Abstract

. Indonesia requires precise seismic hazard assessments to mitigate risks from extreme tectonic plate convergence. Currently, standard mapping heavily relies on time-independent Poisson models, which ignore the elapsed time since historical earthquakes and fail to capture cyclic fault behavior. Updating national hazard maps urgently demands time-dependent approaches. Therefore, this research integrates Poisson and Brownian Passage Time (BPT) models across active faults in Indonesia to dynamically evaluate rupture probabilities and enhance probabilistic seismic hazard assessment (PSHA). Earthquake catalogs (1900–2025) and national fault parameters were processed using OpenQuake. Crucially, the BPT approach estimates rupture probability from tectonic stress accumulation, recurrence intervals, elapsed time, and an aperiodicity parameter (=0.5) characterizing cycle variability. Results demonstrate the BPT model's sensitivity in identifying late-cycle faults, projecting >90% rupture probabilities for the Aceh-South and Batee A segments, while confirming significant hazard reductions (3.75%) for early-cycle faults like Palu-Saluki. To maintain comprehensive coverage, the Poisson model generated a broader baseline hazard distribution, yielding peak ground accelerations (PGA) exceeding 1.35 g at a 2% probability of exceedance in 50 years on Northern Sumatera faults. Integrating these complementary models produces cycle-consistent spatial hazard patterns, providing a robust foundation for national infrastructure planning.
