Abstract

People's preference for switching to a healthy lifestyle by buying organic food has increased the demand for organic rice. The problem that arises is the gap between organic rice production and consumption. The solution to the problem that can be done in increasing organic rice production is through the Field School of Organic Farming (FS-OF). This FS-OF activity is aimed to increase farmers' understanding of organic rice cultivation through learning and training in organic rice cultivation. Implementation of activities in FS-OF was conducting training, and direct learning in the form of demonstration plots. The service activities that have been carried out include the production of demonstration plots for organic and conventional rice cultivation to compare their production, handover of technology transfer tools, training in organic rice cultivation, making the liquid organic fertilizers and organic pesticides, and biochar. Keywords : rice, organic, field school, farming

Abstract

PKM Program in Kajanglako Farming Group, Pudak Village in Kumpeh Ulu District is not only to produce farmers with independent character and entrepreneur spirit, but also to enable them in saving the environment as well as to increase their income. It has been known that beef cattle’s farming business system always been conducted in a traditional way without any kind of technology creation in waste utilization either in solid or liquid waste. Likewise, the farming business of food crops such as sweet corn (Zea Mays L. Saccarata) or the rice plant always been depending toward the subsidiary fertilizer which the availability of the product is not continuous, the cost has been increasing and affecting the production cost spent by the farmers. By the factors mentioned, it is affecting the business productivity carried by the farmers will not be optimum, greenhouse gases emission like N2O, CH4 dan CO2 are also increasing due to accumulation of beef cattle's solid and liquid waste and intensive use of chemical fertilizers. Therefore, there is a need to implement eco techno farming system to increase the income and to reduce the greenhouse gases (GHG). Methods that has been used in this system implementation conducted in several activities, like (1) processed beef cattle’s solid and liquid waste into many formulas by adding various waste such as banana stem waste, forage feed leftover, and paddy straw (2) processed beef cattle’s liquid waste into liquid organic fertilizer and Biourine Empon-Empon Extract (3) processed food crop waste into Molasses Probiotic Silage which could be used as a supplement feed for cattle. All of these activities were carried out through outreach and direct application in the field. Various processed waste products such as solid waste and liquid waste beef cattle and crop waste could reduce production costs, and could be a business opportunity to increase revenue and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).

Abstract

The cost of feed is the highest expenditure on animal husbandry management. One solution to reduce the high cost of feed is by utilizing local feed ingredients or abundant horticulture waste. Waste from bananas namely banana peel can be used as small ruminant animal feed so that feed efficiency can be achieved both in terms of cost, nutrition and feed formulation. Abundant banana skin waste that has not been used optimally so that it is feared can cause environmental pollution. To prevent the accumulation of horticultural waste, one of which is by giving cattle as feed used in the dry season. The method used in the first community service program is to approach, interview and deepen problems and find solutions to problems later. Secondly, learning methods by using teaching media in the form of a book of community service activities and ways of fermented kepok banana peels, giving brochures or leaflets and demonstration using media aids and banners that attract farmers' interests. The results that have been achieved have shown that increasing farmers' knowledge and income related to fermentation technology as animal feed by utilizing agricultural waste

Abstract

One of the purpose of community service activities is to help partner to find solutions for the problems on running their businesses. Partner was found lack of knowledge for the basic principles of food safety, which the daily donuts production’s tools are very simple and with conditions that are not safe on food processing, not familiar with online marketing and the lack of utilization of the remaining egg whites from the donuts production. The methods that used in this activity are an approach to partner, designing and making equipment to assist the production process such as proofing cabinet and deep fryer machine, providing knowledge about how importance of hygiene and sanitation of tools in producing food, training of baking egg white-based sponge cake and training of making instagram. With those activities, it expected to grow the understanding and knowledge of partner so they can compete with other businesses running in the same field.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this activity is to provide information about how the Prospect of Palm Plant Development (Arenga pinnata Merr) for food and energy security as well as processed products from palm trees, so that it is useful for the community, encouraging community awareness and awareness to preserve the environment. This activity was carried out in Buluh Awar Village, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, involving the community in Buluh Awar Village and the Teaching Staff of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Biology Education Study Program, Teaching and Education Faculty, Labuhan Batu University, Postgraduate Study Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty Agriculture of the University of North Sumatra and the Faculty of Forestry of the University of North Sumatra. Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University, South Tapanuli, Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Graha Nusantara University, Padang Sidempuan. The main problem is the planting of sugar palm, which is generally not yet cultivated so that crop productivity is low and it is feared the plant population will decline. Since sugar palm plants have economic, social, cultural and conservation functions, it is wise to cultivate sugar palm and rehabilitate plants that grow naturally and irregularly in order to increase plant productivity. The results of the activity show that the cultivation of palm sugar plant has good hopes or prospects in the future. Processed products from palm plants such as sugar, drinks, and vinegar can be used to improve food security, while bioethanol can be used as an alternative energy source.

Abstract

In the construction of structures, cost is one of the factors that support success. Cost is very important to meet all the needs of work ranging from material procurement to labor. For this reason, civil engineering analysis needs to be done to produce work cost planning as an initial guide in calculating building budget costs that include material, labor and unit price. In the civil engineering analysis of the the two-story building of Rumah Tahfiz, there were various kinds of structural works ranging from foundations to roofs, and also finishing in the form of floors to windows. Those work items make reading work design activities more complex. For this reason, the Tahfiz House Foundation requires the assistance of engineers in analyzing the drawing design, producing more reasonable material calculations and building costs using their own estimated price calculations. From the design analysis activities, Rumah Tahfiz Foundation can find out the details of building activities, materials used, and the cost requirements per section of structural work, aimed at measuring the cost needs until the structure was completed. The help of Civil engineering analysis on the building simplify Rumah Tahfiz foundation in understanding and implementing building process which have a sustainable impact on financial management for future operational learning activites
