Abstract

This community service took place in Simatohir Village, Padangsidimpuan District Angkola Julu, Padangsidimpuan City. The implementation methods used are counseling methods, cultivation technique training, and mentoring. The approach method used is: a) Counseling about the application of SRI technology. b) Make demonstration plots or demonstration plots. c) Use of 2 : 1 legowo planting system using ticks. In the generative phase clearly visible results from the application of SRI are applied to the rice field cropping. There is a distance that facilitates the care of farmers, efficiency in the use of paddy water and the number of productive tillers is 25-40 tillers / clumps and the yield reaches 1337 tons with an area of 1000 square meters and this difference is very obvious when farmers do not use SRI , which starts from tillage which is only extracted, unbalanced fertilization, irregular irrigation, perforated plants between 10-20 plants with productive tillers only 15-23 tillers. This will have an impact on harvest yields which only reach 900 kg with an area of 1000 square meters.

Abstract

Activities carried out in May-June 2018 aim to be an additional source of income to the community. Poor economic conditions are a source of declining levels of public health and education. The main problems faced by farmer group partners and village heads are: (1) community income is inadequate, (2) lack of knowledge of how to raise quail and formulation of rations, (3) partner duties as monitoring activities. The specific target of the PKM program is to create a safer and more conducive environment as an implication of the transfer of quail breeding knowledge and good ration formulation to give birth to a viable pioneer youth group who want to work and partners as monitors are expected to become new innovators independently in their environment. The methods offered: (a) Socialization of mentoring programs raising quails as an effort to convince partners to follow them, (b) Preparation of social preconditions (c) Implementation of quail farming assistance programs supported by Farmer Group Partners and Village Heads with Universities (Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Muhammadiyah University of South Tapanuli) to ensure knowledge transfer goes well and, (d) Monitoring, evaluation and reporting. During the event the target partner has activities showed high enthusiasm, proactive conditions and discussion. Constraints arise when monitoring activities, allegedly due to the low motivation of group members, the capacity of the cage and quail transferred by the PKM Team is not enough as a fundamental motivation for members. This suspicion is reinforced by the information obtained in the field, that in general the self-help groups (Farmer / Youth / Organization / Individual Groups) in this village have been accustomed to "enjoying" social activities in the form of assistance from government and private institutions through various programs with sufficient budget big. This condition triggers "laziness" members in maintaining the transferred assets.

Abstract

Chronic illness is a disorder/ disability due to medical conditions that are present continuously for 3 months or more which may affect the functioning of a child's life (Fritz & McQuaid in Wenar & Kerig, 2005). The effects of chronic illness and long-term treatment lead to individual psychological problems for children, such as feeling sad, withdrawing and other emotional problems. Poor psychological well-being conditions often exacerbate chronic childhood illness. Children become lazy to take medication and not obedient in doing treatment. The purpose of this devotion is to improve psychological well-being of children with chronic illness through social support interventions. This program will be carried out with a cadre of 3 partners who are nurses from Haji Adam Malik hospital. The nurses will be trained, so they can provide the social support for children during hospitalization to improve the psychological wellbeing of the children. After the training, social support interventions implementation module will be tested to 20 chronic illness children in Haji Adam Malik hospital with the nurse as a facilitator. While the team from Psychology Faculty will supervise the implementation and provide feedback.

Abstract

The increase in people's healthy life style has increased the demand for organic rice. However, this is not supported by sufficient increase in the organic rice production. Therefore, Field School of Organic Farming (FS-OF) was conducted as an effort to increase the organic rice production. This FS-OF activity is aimed to improve farmers' understanding and skill about the organic rice cultivation through demonstration plots. The service activities that have been carried out include the production of demonstration plots for organic and conventional rice cultivation to compare their production, handover of technology transfer tools, training in organic rice cultivation, making the liquid organic fertilizers and organic pesticides, and biochar. The results of community service have increased the understanding of field school participants and increased organic rice production by 10% when compared to conventional rice cultivation
