Abstract

According to the Ministry of Health in Indonesia, in 2018, there are about 640 thousand cases of people with HIV within the death rate of 38 thousand people. This number grows annually, in fact, according to WHO, there are approximately 38 million people who are diagnosed with HIV in the world in 2019. Thus, HIV-AIDS is a dangerous health problem and needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a retrovirus that got its name from the infecting immune cells in the human body. There are two types of HIV, named HIV-1 and HIV-2. Both have the same basic gene arrangement, transmission process, intracellular replication lane, and both cause AIDS. The differences between them are the HIV-1 spreads globally, while HIV-2 locally happens in West Africa. Currently, ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) is the most commonly used method of treatment for HIV-1. Treatment for HIV-1 with ART is effective in controlling HIV-1 virus replication but has not been able to completely eradicate the latent viral reservoir. In the past few years, it is known that there is a CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat) method that can modify genes (DNA) in the body of an organism. However, apart from its potential in handling HIV-1, there are still obstacles in the mechanism.

Abstract

In the world, the incidence of nosocomial infections in hospitals had increased. There had been an increase in the incidence of infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae, one of them is Klebsiella pneumonia, which resistant to carbapenem in the worldwide. The consequences of increased rates of resistance to many drugs pose a high need for the discovery of new types of antibiotic drugs. Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (aiton) hassk has an antibacterial effect that has long been used by Indonesians as a traditional drug. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of karamunting leaf fraction as an antimicrobial in carbapenemase resistant K.pneumonia bacteria and to find out the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of the active compound of karamunting leaves as antimicrobial in Carbapenemase resistant Klebsiella pneumonia (CRKP) bacterial isolates. This research was an experimental laboratory research in vitro that exploratory analytical. The results of the study obtained the value of MIC ethyl acetate fraction started at a concentration of 125 μg/ml and n-hexan fraction at a concentration of 4000 μg/ml. MBC value was 125 μg/ml for ethyl acetat fraction and n-hexan fraction of karamunting leaves was 8000 μg/ml. From the bacterial activity test obtained at a concentration 32000 μg/ml of n-hexan fraction, the average diameter of the inhibitory zone 7.80 ± 1.30 mm and ethyl acetate fraction at a concentration of 4000 μg/ml can inhibit the growth of CRKP bacteria with an average of inhibition zone diameter was 9.40 ± 1.67 mm. From the results of the analysis using the Independent T Test and mann whitney test obtained a probability value between all groups with positive control was <0.05. It can be concluded that the ethyl fraction of acetate and n-hexan leaves of karamunting leaves contains active compounds that can interfere with the integrity of CRKP bacterial cell walls or membranes so that the bacteria can die.

Abstract

Background: Knee pain is a major source of disability, and the most frequently complained of disease in people aged 50years and over, this complaint is often associated with osteoarthritis. Complaints of knee pain in OA patients are stronglyassociated with decreased stability of the knee joint. As the main stabilizer in the knee joint, extensor muscle strengthplays a major role in the pain complaints that occur, so that one of the recommended physiotherapy measures for kneeosteoarthritis patients in reducing pain complaints is to exercise the knee extensor muscle strengthening in the form ofpedaling a bicycle. The pedaling movement is a work activity carried out by pedicab drivers. Therefore, this study wasconducted to determine the incidence of knee pain complaints in pedicab riders in the District of Kemuning, Palembang.Method: This type of research is descriptive with cross sectional study design. The study population was pedicab driverswho operated in the Kemuning District of Palembang. Primary data were collected by conducting interviews todetermine whether there were complaints of pain in the knee and assessed by the KOOS Score and Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), as well as measurements of body weight and height. Results: The results showed that 8 pedicab drivers (17.8%)complained of knee pain and 37 pedicab drivers (82.2%) did not complain of pain in their knees. Conclusion: Theincidence of knee pain complaints among pedicab drivers in the Kemuning sub-district of Palembang is lower than that ofpedicab drivers who do not complain of pain in their knees.
