Abstract

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Responses on Locally Advanced Breast Cancer Patients in General Hospital of Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Breast cancer is a malignancy which invaded breast tissue in the form of ductal or lobular. One most therapy which given is neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy can reduce tumor size so that surgery can be performed with good for breast removal with Modification of Radical Mastectomy (MRM) and Breast Conservative Therapy (BCT). This purposes from this research is to find out neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in Locally Advanced Breast Cancer Patients which is received chemotherapy treatment in RSUP dr Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This observational descriptive study was conducted at RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in period between October until November 2019. The sample of this study was locally advanced breast Cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were obtained by interviews and observed medical record from the patients which were then analyzed by univariate analysis using SPSS version 25. In this study there were 34 locally advanced breast cancer patients who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. 24 of 34 patients (70,6%) received positive response and 10 of 34 patients (29,4%) received negative response. Many factors can determine the success of chemotherapy neoadjuvant one of them is a status of molecular subtype from breast cancer patients that must be managed with hormonal therapy and the provision of appropriate chemotherapy regimens also determine the success rate of neoadjuvan therapy in local breast cancer patients.

Abstract

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a collection of symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, weakness and nocturnal symptoms caused by increased pressure on the carpal tunnel. The examination carried out in determining the severity of CTS is electoneuromyography (ENMG) based on the results of nerve conductivity. BCTQ (boston carpal tunnel questionnare) is also considered capable of assessing the severity based on the symptom severity scale (SSS) and functional status scale (FSS). This study aims to determine the accuracy of the BCTQ questionnaire compared with ENMG on nerve conductivity by using diagnostic test design. The data was collected at Medical Rehabilitation Installation of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during October-December 2019 by interviewing the patient’s severity of symptoms and their hand’s function using the BCTQ questionnaire, as well as examining the results of the subject’s ENMG respectively. There were 39 female and 5 male out of 44 study subjects. Bilateral cases 28, right 9 and left 7. The subjects mostly work as housewife. the subjects severity of CTS obtained from SSS, FSS, and ENMG is frequently at the moderate level with the most symptoms of night tingling and the most disrupted function is the function to carry grocery baskets and do household chores. BCTQ which is divided into SSS and FSS has an accuracy value of 70.45% and 72.73% in assessing the severity of CTS. BCTQ is quite accurate as initial screening when compared with the ENMG examination in determining the severity of CTS.

Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women with broad consequences that affect every aspect of a woman's life, with the incidence of PCOS in adolescents approximately 11-26%. More than 50% of PCOS patients are associated with metabolic syndrome including obesity, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. Studies said that diet plays an important role as a risk factor for PCOS in adolescents. Therefore the importance of dietary arrangements to improve hormonal disorders and long-term effects due to PCOS, so it is necessary to do further analysis of the relationship between eating patterns and the risk of PCOS occurrence in adolescents aged 15-19 years in the city of Palembang. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The data taken is primary data on adolescents aged 15-19 years in Palembang City. Retrieval of data intake on respondents was carried out with a food recall questionnaire, which is then for calorie and macronutrient calculations using nutrisurvey software. The diagnosis of PCOS is established by finding two of the three Rotterdam criteria. From a total of 150 samples, most with normal menstrual cycles, overweight/obese BMI, calorie intake, excess carbohydrate and fat consumption, adequate protein consumption, and less fiber consumption. There were 38 samples (25.3%) obtained with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Samples that have PCOS, mostly with overweight/obese BMI (p <0.05), calorie intake, consumption of carbohydrates, protein, excess fat (p<0.05), and less fiber consumption (p>0.05). There is a significant relationship between calorie intake, consumption of carbohydrates, protein, and excess fat, as well as less fiber consumption and the risk of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in adolescents aged 15-19 years in the city of Palembang.

Abstract

Escherichia coli is a normal bacterium in the lower part of human digestion, but if the amount is above normal, E. coli will cause various diseases. Inappropriate use of antibiotics can cause resistance, so alternative treatments such as herbal medicines are needed. Herbal plants that have been explored as antibacterial compounds are Moringa oleifera leaves and Bidara leaves (Ziziphus mauritiana). This research was conducted to see the comparison of the antibacterial effectiveness of Moringa oleifera and Ziziphus mauritiana with 96% ethanol solvent against E.coli. The design of this study used an experimental study conducted in vitro. Moringa oleifera and Ziziphus mauritiana were extracted at 10 different concentrations. The test method used was disk diffusion on Mueller-Hinton agar. The treatment group is E. coli ATCC 25922, Ciproflxacin were used as positive controls and discs immersed in 96% ethanol were used as negative controls. The average zone of inhibition of Moringa oleifera leaf extract was 10 mm, while Ziziphus mauritiana leaf extract gave an average of inhibition zone of 14 mm. The average zone of inhibition from positive control is 33 mm. Negative control has no zone of inhibition. Moringa oleifera leaf extract can inhibit the growth of E. coli bacteria at a concentration of 30% with a zone of inhibition of 7 mm, and leaf extract of Ziziphus mauritiana can inhibit the growth of E. coli bacteria at a concentration of 20% with a 12 mm inhibition zone. This proves that Ziziphus mauritiana has more effective antibacterial ability than Moringa oleifera.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) and intestinal worms are infectious diseases with a large number of sufferers in Indonesia. The high prevalence of intestinal worms in Indonesia allows the occurrence of STH coinfection in pulmonary TB patients which causes anti M. tuberculosis immunity to decrease so that the response to tuberculosis treatment is not optimal. One of the risk factors of STH infection is personal hygiene. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between individual hygiene and the incidence of STH coinfection in TB patients in Tempurejo Sub-District, Jember District. This type of research is observational research with cross sectional analytic design. The population used was TB patients in Tempurejo Sub-District in the period September - October 2019. The data used in this study were primary data in the form of interviews and results of stool examination. Stool examination is carried out using the sedimentation and floatation methods. Data analysis was performed using Fisher's exact test. The results of this study indicate that the incidence of STH co-infection in TB patients in Tempurejo Subdistrict is 9.67% and is caused by two STH species, A. lumbricoides (66.7%) and Hookworm (33.3%). Respondents' personal hygiene consisted of good hygiene (64.5%) and bad hygiene (35.5%), where 66.7% of cases of STH coinfection occurred in respondents with poor personal hygiene. Fisher's test results showed that there was no significant relationship between personal hygiene with the incidence of STH coinfection in TB patients in Tempurejo Sub-District, Jember District (p-value of 0.281).

Abstract

Streptococcus pneumoniae or pneumococcus is the main cause of community acquired pneumoniae (CAP). Infection of pneumococcal can be prevented by vaccines, like PPV and PCV. Those vaccines have several weaknesses, like, limited to several strain of bacteria and invasive. Nowadays, development of pneumococcal vaccines used the antigenic component of which occur on the bacteria, like epitope. One of the epitopes that can be used as vaccine candidate is epitope from RrgB protein of bacteria’s pili. One of the RrgB protein’s epitope that has been identified having antigenic property is epitope protein RrgB 255-270 of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria’s pili. That epitope will stimulate immune system to produce antibody against the antigen supported by cytokine, like IL-4. This research aim is to knowing the effect of intranasal immunization epitope protein RrgB 255-270 Streptococcus pneumoniae to IL-4 level. Wistar rat’s nasal rinse sample IL-4 levels measured by ELISA method. The mean of K1 is 28,852± 18 ng/L, K2 is 20.630 ± 9 ng/L and K3 is 18.519 ± 6 ng/L. Result of Welch ANOVA test shows that p-value of this research is 0.299. That can be concluded that the effect of intranasal immunization epitope protein RrgB 255-270 S. pneumoniae give non-significant difference (p-value > 0.05).

Abstract

Hearing impairment on infants cause delayed development of speech, language, cognitive skills, and also social and emotional problems. The Joint Committee of Infants Hearing (JCIH) in 2007 stated perinatal asphyxia as one of the risk factors of infants hearing impairment. Hypoxia on asphyxiated neonates lead to the damage of outer hair cells (OHC) and edematous changes in stria vascularis in cochlea. The damage of OHC can be seen in the result of Otoacoustic Emission (OAE). The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between neonatal asphyxia and cochlear dysfunction. This study was an observational analytic with cross sectional study design. Sampling was performed at dr. Soebandi and Kaliwates Jember Hospital November 29th 2019 – January 8th 2020 period in perinatology room. The sample is obtained by consecutive sampling. The data obtained were analyzed using Chi-square test with p-value < .,05. Out of 16 neonates, 8 neonates were with moderate asphyxia and other 8 neonates were not having any history of asphyxia. Cochlear dysfunction was noted in 3 (37.5%) neonates of moderate asphyxia and 6 (75%) neonates without history of asphyxia. The result of the study showed no significant correlation between moderate neonatal asphyxia and cochlear dysfunction (p=0.142).
