Abstract

Lights are essential for humans and other living creatures. Without lights or lighting, surely it will be hard to do everything, especially in the afternoon or at night. As the development of civilization and technology, humans created artificial lighting. For the first time, it was only a substitute for natural light from the sun. Artificial light was provided from the fire; then research and development of the light bulb were conducted by Alessandro Volta, Sir Humphry Davy, Warren De La Rue, to Thomas Alva Edison. After the natural lights from the sun can be replaced by artificial lighting from the lamp, the development of lighting is getting much complex ranging from technical to psychological things. This relates to the increasing human activity in the room. The diversity of different activity requires different types of lighting methods. The development results not only about technical and psychological problems but also aesthetic elements.

Abstract

When speaking of progress, photography is one of the things that is experiencing a quite vast development, and relatively wide in terms of technology or its visual feature. What it means by visual feature here is that in a long period of time, a lot has changed in its idea or concept. Also, it means the print media, or even its printing technique. Moreover he most basic of all is its character of the result in the photo itself. Whether the object taken, moment or time of the photo shoot, all these factors quite represent several genres in photography. For example, if the photography is making a human being to become its model, it might mean a modeling photo shoot, kids, or family photo shoot. Also it might mean a studio/indoor photo shoot or an outdoor photo shoot, when speaking of genre category. If the photo taken is a moment or an event, it might be a journalistic genre or a documentation one. Several themes or visual feature in a photo shoot will become one of the aspects for us the subject to be able to categorize the kind of genre they are. Hence, those genres definitely serve different functions.

Abstract

Jacques Derida is a phenomenal philosopher through his philosophy of deconstruction theory. Derida showed systematically the death of structuralism. His speech shocked the world of academics in France and almost all of America and Europe. Deconstruction is a new way of reading the text, by shifting the core of a text to the side, and put the idea on the edge (the unnoticed, hidden ideas) to the center or importance. Derida rejected dichotomous, binary opposition, bipolarity, thinking model or ways of thinking that one is privileging and marginalizing other ideas. Derida thought the model that would proclaim democratic, open, and dynamic diversity that would make room for multiple interpretations of meaning or open horizon that tolerate differences in interpretation of a text. What was conceptualized by Derida is found legitimacy in practical adequacy in the figure of Pope Francis, the Catholic Church's highest leader. Francis shows a deconstructive way to lead contemporary Catholic Church. Francis has opened a new, broader, and other meaning in looking the praxis of the Church. He does not prioritize elitist lifestyle, yet puts a simple and frugal lifestyle. He changes conservative theology into progressive-liberal theology. He realized Church needs not theology but a living testimony of a good, caring, generous, compassion life that does not use religion for immoral behavior, dehumanization, and corruption. Derida did philosophical deconstruction, Francis did spiritual-leadership deconstruction. What unites both of them is a word called "deconstruction".
