Abstract

Islam reached Lombok island at sixteenth century, approximately at 1545. Its well known spreader was an expedition from Java led by Sunan Prapen son of Sunan Giri, one of the famous Wali Songo. Before Islam reached this island, according to some historian, the indigenous Sasak –appellation to indigenous of Lombok people—had their own traditional religion, Boda. Islam –since the very beginning of its history and will continuosly last to the end of time—has faced some different even contradictive values of local traditions and cultures. Its leads to a kind of dialectical process, and in turn produces what is called local Islam such as Islam Wetu Telu in Bayan, West Lombok. This article is aimed at revealing historical root of religious identity of Sasak community. Historical sketch of its religious identity leads to Wetu Telu religion that was collaboration of tradition, cultural and relegious values of the comers and those of the indigenous people in the past. Another point of view sad that Wetu Telu religion is an uncompleted process of islamization toward Waktu Lima religion that is considered by presently most Muslims in Lombok the true and pure Islam.

Abstract

“Female’s fingers myth” is so believed by most female communities, especially Javanese ones. Fingers owned by them are described as their faithful with their husband. This belief is so strong that it impacts the violent action to them in most communities. This violence happens to both engage and married women. This phenomenon is often missed and hardly touched by law. It is because the violence happens to them is an oldest violence form, that most people view it as something common and proper. It is one of the supporting factors that the male’s superiority to female is imperishable. This perspective must be taken apart and reform soon in order that the gender bias does not happen, because the holy Qur’an as the Muslim’s guidance also does not teach that.

Abstract

As the perfect creature, human beings have naturally good nearness and harmony either with their God or among them. This natural tendency, however, is often depraved by themselves by committing a sin or break norm. The fadedness of this natural tendency makes them suffering in their whole life. Therefore, there is no other way unless seeking medicine and solution, i.e. repenting or al-taubah al-shâdiqah or taubatan nasûha.

Abstract

Having family by marriage is sunnatullah for all the creatures in the world. In human life, family just can be formed by marriage, that is a holy connection between a man and a woman. Religion and moral state that marriage is the only right way to release the sexual desire honorable to get good generation. Because of that, sex without married, live together without married, and having sex with the same gender is a wrong behavior, out of rule, and contrary to compulsary state (fitrah) as human, and it is forbidden by religion. In order to have a happy and harmony family, life in family has to based on love, sincerity, and  worship, not because of pressure or just looking for the desire of sex. Because of that, the morality  on the family life has to be understood and done by all members in family (espcially husband and wife), so that, they can create a happy and prosperous family (sakinah mawadah wa rahmah).

Abstract

Qur’an is God’s saying that is valued as a miracle, revealed to the last prophet through angel Gabriel, told to us handed down from person to person for generations, and valued as worship to God if it is read. It is began by sūrah al-Fātihah and ended by sūrah an-Nās. Allah revealed the Qur’an in order to be life guidance for Muslim community and direction for His creatures. Qur’an is a very effective medicine to eliminate heartsick like stress, and depression, and to improve human morals. There are so many human beings who suffer that sickness, either in low or heavy level. For those who have little faith and piety, they will difficultly overcome it.

Abstract

School of Islamic studies for children and young people (pesantren) is a conventional education institution that – from its publishing until now – it has experienced various changes and played many roles in Indonesia. Its main elements that consist of kyai (the teacher), santri (the student), mosque, boarding school, and kitab kuning (the books) are unique elements that make it different from other education institutions. Along with social change current, there is a view that pesantren is no longer relevant and must be reformed. Therefore, pesantren is demanded to be “supermarket” that supplies many kinds of product and has sensitive curriculum in order to be consumed by its community.

Abstract

Different interpretation of prophetic narrative on the prohibition and allowance of hadith writing had brought about negative perception of Orientalist that leaded to a conclusion to refuse using hadith as hujjah. Ignaz Goldziher, Hungarian Jewish, thought that most hadith could not be warranted, its originality (or counterfeit), therefore, they could not be information sources of the early history of Islam. According to him, hadith is more meant as a reflection of many currents interaction and conflict, and latter tendency in mature period, rather than a historical document of the early development of Islam. It means, to him, hadith is a product of Islamic community that lived several centuries after the prophet Mohammed, not originally from him. This opinion had been opposed by a number of Islamic experts, like Syaikh Musthafa as-Siba’I, and Abd al-Ghani Abd al-Khaliq.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengkaji tentang epistemologi anarkisme Paul Feyerabend dalam studi tafsir al-Qur'an. Selama ini studi tafsir al-Qur'an telah berkembang sangat pesat sejak periode formatif, afirmatif hingga transformatif. Berbagai metode dan pendekatan telah lahir mengiringi. Perkembangan itu menunjukkan bahwa studi tafsir berjalan secara dinamis. Namun, sebagian menilai tafsir al-Qur'an telah selesai pasca generasi ketiga dalam Islam. Melalui prinsip Anything Goes yang digagas Feyerabend, metode dan pendekatan apapun yang ditawarkan untuk menafsirkan al-Qur'an dapat berjalan dan "berkontestasi" secara terbuka. Satu sisi, hal ini sangat positif bagi perkembangan ilmu tafsir dalam konteks kemajuan zaman. Namun di sisi lain, anarkisme dalam bidang ini dapat menimbulkan tafsir liar yang melahirkan problem bagi kemajuan peradaban, seperti lahirnya terorisme dalam Islam yang sering disandarkan pada ayat-ayat al-Qur'an sebagai sumber justifikasinya.

Abstract

Penafsiran al-Qur`an mempunyai ragam corak, antara lain tafsir bil Ma’tsur dan tafsir bil Ra’yi. Tafsir bil Ma’tsur masih diyakini oleh sementara kalangan sebagai tafsir yang cenderung lebih dapat dipercaya walaupun dianggap “konservatif”. Tafsir ini bersumber dari periwayatan, baik yang bersumber dari Nabi SAW maupun sahabat. Tafsir sahabat seringkali dipermasalahkan apakah tafsir tersebut bisa disebut dengan tafsir bil ma’tsur atau tidak. Hal ini disebabkan penafsiran tersebut merupakan ijtihad. Selain itu, riwayatriwayat yang terdapat di dalam tafsir bil ma’tsur tidak semua dapat dipertanggung jawabkan otentitasnya. Di antara kitab tafsir bercorak demikian adalah Tanwir al-Miqbas min Tafsir Ibni Abbas. Kitab ini disandarkan kepada Muhammad bin Ya’qub bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim as-Syairazi al-Fairuzabadi. Kitab tafsir ini merupakan kitab tafsir al-Qur`an yang menggunakan manhaj tafsir tahlili (tafsir ayat per ayat) dengan mendasarkan kepada jalur periwayatan tunggal yang berujung kepada Abdullah bin Abbas RA (sebagai sumber penafsiran). Otentitas terhadap periwayatan baik terhadap riwayat-riwayat yang terkait dengan penafsiran maupun hadits sangat penting dilakukan. Hal tersebut bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas periwayatan, sehingga dapat ditentukan apakah riwayat tersebut valid ataukah tidak. Dalam penelitian ini, akan dilakukan telaah terhadap hal-hal yang terkait dengan jalur periwayatan tafsir Tanwir al-Miqbas min Tafsir Ibni Abbas, tentang penilaian terhadap sanad perawinya, perbandingan penafsiran Abdullah bin Abbas dalam kitab tafsir ini dan kitab tafsir Ibnu Abbas lainnya dan pembahasan tentang keabsahan penyandaran kitab tafsir ini kepada al-Fairuzabadi. Dengan demikian penelitian ini merupakan penelitian library dengan menitik beratkan kepada tinjauan sejarah dan tinjauan sanad.

Abstract

Agama akhir-akhir ini menjadi perbincangan hangat setelah banyaknya aksi kekerasan yang dilakukan atas nama agama. Kekerasan itu berawal dari tuduhan tentang kafir dan Islamnya seseorang hingga berakhir dengan pemaksaan agama atau bahkan pengrusakan dan pembunuhan. Beberapa lembaga pemerhati keragaman melaporkan bahwa Jawa Barat adalah zona merah bagi kebhinekaan. Tulisan ini memotret pandangan dan sikap para pelajar dan santri tentang pluralisme. Hal ini dimaksudkan untuk melihat dua hal. Pertama, bagaimana pandangan mereka tentang pluralisme sekaligus dasar teologis yang melatar belakangi pandangan tersebut. Kedua, apakah pandangan tersebut memberi pengaruh pada sikap mereka dalam relasi agama atau interagama. Untuk mencapai itu, peneliti mewawancarai secara mendalam beberapa pelajar dan santri dengan melihat latar belakang sekolah, pesantren dan lingkungannya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pandangan santri dan pelajar terhadap keragaman terbagi dua. Ada yang menerimanya sebagai sunnatullah dan karenanya harus disikapi dengan baik. Ada juga yang menolak perbedaan tersebut dengan dasar kebenaran itu tunggal. Namun itu, sikap terhadap perbedaan tidak menunjukkan anarkhisme, baik yang menolak pluralisme apalagi yang menerimanya.
