Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership competence, staff involvement, and facility quality on the perception of effectiveness in educational organizations. A quantitative approach is used with the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the relationship between leadership competence, staff engagement, facilities, and perception of organizational effectiveness. Data was obtained from a survey of employees of educational institutions with a total of 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The results of the analysis show that staff facilities and involvement have a significant effect on the perception of the effectiveness of educational organizations, while leadership competencies have a lower direct influence. These findings indicate that adequate facilities and staff involvement are important factors in shaping a positive perception of organizational effectiveness. This study contributes to the literature on internal factors that affect the effectiveness of educational organizations, in particular by exploring the influence of a combination of variables of leadership competence, facilities, and staff engagement. This study closes the knowledge gap related to the comprehensive impact of these factors on the perception of organizational effectiveness. These findings provide recommendations for educational leaders to improve resource allocation to support facilities and increase staff involvement in decision-making. This is important for creating a conducive work environment, which will contribute to the perception of the organization's effectiveness and the potential for overall productivity improvement

Abstract

This article explores the role of educational technology (EdTech) in improving literacy outcomes, focusing on diverse contexts such as Indonesia and Finland. In countries like Indonesia, where educational disparities are prevalent, especially in rural areas, EdTech has the potential to bridge resource gaps and provide equitable access to quality educational content. This review synthesizes findings from existing studies on the effectiveness of digital tools such as e-books, learning management systems, and gamified applications in enhancing literacy. The method involves a systematic review of literature, examining the impact of EdTech in multilingual and resource-poor settings, with a comparative analysis of Finland's successful integration of technology in its education system. The results demonstrate that EdTech can improve literacy by providing accessible, engaging, and personalized learning experiences. Furthermore, tools like language translation and adaptive learning platforms can cater to diverse linguistic and educational needs. The discussion highlights how EdTech, when effectively implemented, can foster more inclusive and equitable educational opportunities. In conclusion, the study recommends that governments implement policies supporting EdTech, schools invest in teacher training and infrastructure, and EdTech developers create affordable, context-specific solutions. Future research should focus on longitudinal and quantitative studies to assess the long-term impact of EdTech on literacy development.

Abstract

The field of education in the colonial era is often studied in the context of the implementation of the Ethical Policy, one of which is based on the speech of Queen Wilhelmina in 1901 which emphasized that the Netherlands is a Christian country and is committed to helping the mission of that religion. This research attempts to answer the formulation of questions about political policies in Christian education management prior to the Ethical Politics period. The methodology used is a historical research type by going through literature searches, evaluating, verifying, and synthesizing evidence from the data collected. The results of this study indicate that education management policies have been pursued by the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) since the early 17th century, where due to the influence of religious wars, this trading partnership also tried to replace Portuguese domination and Catholicism in Indonesia. The form of education in that era was still simple to teach obedience and religious rituals in individual teaching without class levels. Apart from a shortage of experienced educators, Dutch language was less popular than Portuguese and Malay. After the company collapsed in 1799, the Dutch government was neutral towards religious affairs since 1808. This caused many "Zending" (Protestant Evangelism) bodies to spread religion as well as establish a number of educational institutions as happened in Minahasa (since the 1830s) and in Batak lands (since the 1860s).

Abstract

K.H. Agus Salim is an Indonesian national hero known as a scholar, politician, professional and journalist. Her activism can be traced from the time of the national movement to the period of defending independence. However, there is an experience that is so unique, namely when Salim fought for education in his hometown of Koto Gadang, West Sumatra. This writing uses the biographical research method of education to highlight Salim's historical role in the field of educational management. Since childhood, Agus Salim was known to be intelligent and studious. He took all of his education at the Dutch colonial school and always excelled and was fluent in many languages (polyglot). In the midst of a discriminatory colonial education system, he succeeded in establishing the private Hollandsche Inlandsche School (HIS) with the help of non-governmental organizations in 1912. He served as an advisor and teacher. Many of the school's alumni have been successfully accepted into government advanced schools, one of the reasons being that foreign language education (Dutch) is taught from an early age. Furthermore, "Studiefonds Koto Gadang" as the institution he founded helps outstanding students to get free education and continue their education. The basis of Agus Salim's contribution lies in the influence of Islamic modernism thought brought by Muhammad Abduh, that Muslims must achieve the pleasure of Allah with intellectual intelligence. Salim completes it by building awareness of nationalism and love for the motherland.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between work culture, leadership style, work motivation, and work discipline on teacher performance at SMP Negeri 1 and SMP Negeri 6 Kotabaru using a mixed-method approach. Quantitative analysis results show that work culture and work discipline do not have a significant effect on teacher performance, with p-values of 0.235 and 0.225, respectively. In contrast, leadership style and work motivation have significant effects, with p-values of 0.007 and 0.000, respectively. Qualitative analysis indicates that while work culture and work discipline do not have a direct impact, they remain important in supporting teacher performance. The simultaneous hypothesis suggests that all variables collectively influence teacher performance, although individual contributions from work culture and work discipline are not significant. This research provides insights for the development of more effective educational policies.

Abstract

This article proposes a comprehensive theoretical framework aimed at enhancing service quality (SQ) within a student funding system in South Africa. Drawing on extensive literature regarding SQ and organisational excellence, the framework integrates macro-level systemic dimensions with micro-level student-focused components. The study employed a qualitative research methodology, incorporating a document analysis approach as primary data collection techniques. This approach emphasises a holistic strategy for the re-engineering of a student funding system, aligning with stakeholder needs and the Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework. Key dimensions identified within this framework leadership, strategic planning, operational processes, stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement, and measurement are essential for achieving superior service delivery and organisational effectiveness. The findings suggest that this theoretical framework not only addresses existing gaps in student funding operations but also sets the foundation for future empirical validation and refinement.
