Deiksis is a journal that aims to be a peer-reviewed platform and an authoritative source of information. We publish scientific works from national and international lecturers, researchers, students, and practitioners to present their new ideas, concepts, and theories in Indonesian language and literature education focused on Language Learning and Indonesian Literature, Class Action Research (CAR) of the teaching of Language and Indonesian Literature, Indonesian Linguistics and Literature, Linguistic and Literary analysis as well as related topics. All articles are peer-reviewed by at least two peer-reviewers. Deiksis is managed to be issued twice in every volume. The scope of Deiksis is Indonesian Language and Literature Learning Model, Assessment and Evaluation of Teaching Indonesian Language and Literature, discourse analysis, pragmatics, anthropolinguistics, language and culture, dialectology, language documentation, cognitive linguistics, language education, translation, language planning, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and other scientific fields related to language studies.

Abstract

The perposes of research are to find 1) The Effects of Reading Habit and Vocabulary Mastery Collaboratively Towards Student’s Reading Comprehension Skills. 2). The Effects of Reading Habit Towards Student’s Reading Comprehension Skills. 3). The Effects of Vocabulary Mastery Towards Student’s Reading comprehension skills. The research methodology that employed is Explanatory Survey Method and technique of data analysis that used in this research is regression analysis model.  The effect of independent variabel to dependent variabel. The statistic test used t-test and data analysis used correlation technique and multiple regression. Abstract

Pilihan bahasa digunakan dalam berbagai ranah di antaranya ranah keluarga, pendidikan, agama, dan jual beli. Pilihan bahasa dalam ranah jual beli maksudnya adalah pilihan bahasa yang digunakan oleh penjual dan pembeli untuk melakukan transaksi jual-beli. Contoh ranah jual-beli adalah transaksi jual-beli yang terjadi di komplek POLRI Ciracas. Dalam transaksi jual beli tersebut akan terjadi pemilihan sekaligus penggunaan bahasa. Hal ini tidak menutup kemungkinan penjual yang menggunakan bahasa Indonesia akan menggunakan bahasa Jawa jika pembelinya beretnik Jawa atau terjadi sebaliknya, pembeli yang beretnik Jawa akan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia. Dalam interaksi jual beli tersebut akan memungkinkan terjadinya wacana kebahasaan.Kata Kunci : interaksi penjual dengan pembeli

Abstract

Salah satu realitas sosial yang dianggap masalah dalam amsyarakat dan menjadi fenomena adalah kederadaan kaum waria. Waria dianggap sebagai perusak moral, masalah sosial, kesehatan, dan patologi sosial. Terdeskriminasinya kaum waria dari masyarakat secara umum menjadikan kehidupan kaum waria tidak banyak diketahu oleh khalayak. Waria dengan segala gaya hidupnya sebagian besar masyarakat menganggap sebagai sebuah penyimpangan. Penelitian ini menitik beratkan pada penyimpangan perilaku seksual waria dalam novel Taman Api karya Yonathan Rahardjo. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif . Data pada penelitian ini berupa hasil telaah dari novel Taman Api Karya Yonathan Rahardjo. Sumber data primer berupa kalimat dalam novel Taman Api karya Yonathan Rahardjo. Sumber data sekunder adalah sumber data kepustakaan yaitu berupa buku, jurnal, artikel ilmiah. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik Content analysis,. Teknik validitas data mempergunakan teknik trianggulasi data atau sumber.Teknik analisis adalah analisis model interaktif (Interactive Model Analysis). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan dalam novel Taman Api terdapat (a) seks sesama jenis, (b) dunia prostitusi, dan (c) rekontruksi tubuh.Kata kunci: penyimpangan perilaku, seks, waria

Abstract

This present research aims at analyzing the effectiveness of Total Physical Response Storytelling (TPRS) method in teaching English Math-shape vocabularies. The research was carried out in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sirojul Banat Jakarta by using the experiment method. There were 31-first grade literate students as samples chosen by purposive sampling technique. The data is gathered by using the test instrument with one-group pretest-posttest design. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Findings have shown that Total Physical Response Storytelling (TPRS) method is said to be effective applied in teaching English math-shape vocabularies which is identified by the enhancement of students’ comprehension toward the vocabularies’ meaning as well as the increase of their motivation and creativity experiencing the learning process more actively and interactively.Keywords: vocabulary teaching, storytelling technique, TPRS

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap tipe klausa pada tajuk rencana Kompas melalui pemahaman ciri semantik verba sebagai pengendali konstruksi klausa. Adapun penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi. Sementara itu, penelitian ini menggunakan teori bersifat eklektik. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian, tipe klausa pada tajuk rencana Kompas ialah klausa (1) transitif (43%) yang terbentuk atas (1a) verba transitif polimorfemis dan (1b) verba transitif opsional; (2) dwi-intransitif (18%) yang terbentuk atas (2a) verba dwi-intransitif monomorfemis, (2b) verba dwi-intransitif polimorfemis, dan (2c) verba dwi-intransitif opsional; (3) equatif (17%) yang terbentuk atas yaitu (3a) verba equatif monomorfemis dan (3b) verba polimorfemis; (4) intransitif (16%) yang terbentuk (4a) klausa monomorfemis dan (4b) klausa polimorfemis; dan (5) dwitransitif (6%) yang terbentuk atas (5a) SPOK dan (5b) SPOPel. Hal itu mengindikasikan bahwa bahasa tajuk rencana Kompas dapat dikatakan menggunakan konstruksi yang sederhanaKata kunci: tipe klausa, ciri semantik verba, dan empat ciri tagmem serta satu sifat kehadiranAbstractThis study aims to reveal the type of clause in the Kompas editorial through the understanding of semantic features of verbs as the clause construction controler. This study used a qualitative description method of content analysis techniques. Meanwhile, this study uses the eclectic theory. Based on the research data, the types of clause on the Kompas editorial are clause (1) transitive (43%) were formed on the (1a) transitive polymorphem verbs and (1b) optionally transitive verbs; (2) bi-intransitive (18%) were formed on (2a) bi-intransitive verbs monomorphem, (2b) bi-intransitive verbs polymorphem, and (2c) bi-intransitive verbs optional; (3) equative (17%) were formed on that (3a) equative verbs monomorphem and (3b) polymorphem verbs; (4) intransitive (16%) were formed (4a) clause monomorphem and (4b) polymorphem clause; and (5) bi-transitive (6%) were formed on (5a) SPOK and (5b) SPOPel. Abstract

Pertelevisian sebagai media dengan jangkauan besar telah melahirkan budaya massa, dimana masyarakat massa mengganggap apa yang ada di televisi adalah budaya milik bersama sehingga dengan mudahnya sikap konsumtif dieksploitasi. Hadirnya media massa tersebut dengan berbagai tayangan menariknya, mendapatkan biaya dan keuntungan dari pemasukkan iklan. Oleh karena itu, Iklan dengan biayanya yang mahal harus hadir di televisi sebagai sesuatu yang “menghibur dan mengejutkan” agar menarik minat pemirsanya. Kreatif iklan sering menggunakan realita yang ada namun direduksi sesuai dengan kepentingan di dalamnya sehingga realitas itu adalah kenyataanyang “diciptakan”. Melalui tanda-tanda, iklan mentransfer misinya, yang akan dimaknai oleh penonton iklan tersebut. Dampaknya, akan timbul persepsi bahkan sebuah narasi besar melalui pencitraan dalam iklan. Salah satunya dalam studi kasus iklan komersial ini. Makalah ini menggunakan pendekatan semiotika untuk mengidentifikasi beberapa makna yang muncul dalam pencitraan dunia pendidikan akibat tanda-tanda yang dihadirkan dalam iklan Nokia Ovi Life Tool versi raport terbakar tahun 2011.Kata kunci: citra, iklan, pendidikan, televisi

Abstract

Pada saat ini mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris menjadi mata pelajaran tidak wajib. Dimana hanya mendapatkan alokasi waktu 2 jam dalam seminggu. Dalam hal tersebut menyebabkan pencapainan pembelajaran berjalan sedikit lamban. Tidak hanya menggunakan metode pengajaran yang baik namun juga menyediakan media yang baik untuk kegiatan belajar megajar. Mata pelajaran bahasa inggris pada tingkat SD/MI menekankan pada pengenalan kosakata sebagai pondasi atau dasar dalam pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Dari hasil survey di beberapa sekolah di Depok dan Kecamatan Tajurhalang Jawa Barat, para guru masih menggunakan cara tradisional dalam mempelajari kosakata baru yaitu menggunakan daftar kosakata baik yang ditulis di papan tulis maupun yang dicetak dibuku pelajaran siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menemukan efektifitas pengembangan media belajar flashcard. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode action research dengan pendekatan deskripsi kualitatif yang serta melibatkan 80 siswa dari 4 kelas yang memiliki jenjang berbeda. Hasil dari penelitian ni menunjukan bahwa pengembangan media gambar berupa flashcard memeberikan hasil yang lebih baik daripada penggunaan media belajar sebelumnya, yaitu mampu meningkat sebanyak 44%( dar nilai rata – rata 24,3 berubah menjadi 68,3)Kata Kunci : Pengembangan, media, Flashcard, Bahasa Inggris

Abstract

The purposes of the research are to investigate and find out how English community in Pare Kediri is built, what the techniques used to make the community speak English without any reluctance, and how the community in Pare Kediri acquires English. The research was conducted from January 22nd to 25th 2013 in Pare Kediri, East Java which is famous as “Kampung Inggris”. There are approximately134 English courses in Pare sub district, this research focused on observing and distributing questionnaire in Pelem village. This study employed a case study method, and the data were collected by ways of observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Based on the research findings, English community in Pare Kediri is built because there are more than 100 English courses in that sub district only. In addition, mostly English courses implement some techniques as drilling, singing, debating, and playing games and also outing class as one of their learning programs. These teaching techniques make learners are active and creative. Finally, the community in Pare Kediri acquires English by using it as their daily communication and having discipline and commitment to obey the rules implemented by English courses there.Key words: Language Acquisition, English Community, and Speaking.

Abstract

This paper offers ironic language style overview of the satire in Pride and Prejudice Novel, cerated by Jane Austen. The Pride and Prejudice novel, which was written in Victorian Era, had brought many changes. It was the first England novels, written by a woman. The novels became  interesting, because it contains many satire inside, connecting the atmosphere in Victorian era. Austen was well known for the use of satire and was often pointed to feminist tendencies within her work, which provided a gap worthy of research as there were several studies concerning Austen’s use of satire and existence of feminism in Pride and Prejudice separately, but not as inter-related elements. The method, used in this research is a method that take the paragraph show the ironic language style, containing satire..The result showed that there is language style of satire, like as language criticsm and language of mockery. In addition, there is social value, which  was coordination and cooperation, were found. Humors have been found everywhere in the novel; in its words devine imagery, but mostly in its conversations between characters. Her novels were not only her way of entertaining people but it was also a way to express her opinions and views on what surrounded her and affected her. KeyWord: Woman writter, Irony, Satire, and Victorian Era

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop the Students’ English speaking skillof class HIJ 49 students semester 1 2013/2014 at Indraprasta University Faculty of Art and languages English Department since the data showed that 85.40% of the students semester one were not able to speak English. There were some problems which made the students unable to speak English. One of them was method. The method which was used to develop the students’ English speaking skill was “Oral Questioning.” The Finding showed in the first segment on the first circle that the students looked confused since they were not accustomed to speaking English by oral Questioning in their first language (L1) method. The second segments of the first circle indicated that they had understood how to speak English grammatically, After being tested by an English lecturer as a collaborator at the end of the third of the first segment resulted that 80 % of the students reached the minimal scores 72. At last, at the end of two segments of the second circles of the second test showed that 100% of the students were able to speak English confidently: The average scores were 81.61, modus score was between 78 until 81 or 36.73%.Keywords: Speaking, English
