Abstract

Noise can occur anywhere, including at educational institutions. Noise research at educational institutions began to be studied a lot because of the negative impact on the teaching and learning process and disrupt the performance of teachers and students. Some studies show that schools or universities located on the edge of the road, show noise levels that exceed quality standards. This research was conducted at educational institutions located along the east Frontage Road Jl A.Yani Road, Surabaya, by measuring noise levels at 3 locations, in daylighting measurements with 4 measurement times (L1-L4). Data collection and processing was carried out by referring to the quality standard of KEPMENLH No. 48 of 1996. Data was measured using a sound level meter for 10 minutes for each measurement, with a reading every 5 seconds to obtain 120 data. Data processing results are compared with the standard noise level. The noise value at SD Margorejo I / 403 is 82.2 dB, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya is 79.76 dB, and SMK 3 Surabaya is 80.06 dB. The noise level value has exceeded the established quality standard, which has maximum of 55 dB for the educational intitutions area. The source of noise comes from the activities of motorized vehicles in and around educational institution that is quite crowded. Another cause of the high noise value is the train activities along the east frontage road Jl A.yani Surabaya, as well as the distance of the noise source with research location that relatively close. Abstract

Soil is a very influential medium of human survival. One of the parameters affecting soil quality is heavy metal concentration in soil, especially heavy metal of lead (Pb). High concentrations of Pb in the soil can treated with phytoremediation techniques. The aims of this research are: 1. To investigate the reduction of heavy metal Pb in the soil by phytoremediation, 2. To investigate the effectiveness of plants to absorb heavy metal Pb in the soil, and 3. To investigate the distribution of Pb concentration in the plant parts. The study variables used in this research are species variation of plants Sansevieria trifasciata and Celosia pulmosa. Phytoremediation test of Pb heavy metal contaminated soil was carried out for 4 weeks with sampling time on days 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28. The parameters analyzed of this research is Pb concentrations on soil and plant parts, namely roots, stems, leaf. Physical observations of plants were also carried out to support this research. The results show that the reactor with Sansevieria trifasciata had a higher effectiveness of removal of Pb in 81.08% (112 mg/kg) than Celosia pulmosa in 59.63% (293 mg/kg). The effectiveness of the absorption of Sansevieria trifasciata was higher 70.50% (418 mg/kg) than Celosia pulmosa 52.40% (311 mg/kg). The distribution of Pb concentrations in the plant of Sansevieria trifasciata and Celosia pulmosa is almost the same, with the most concentration being in the root part and at least scattered in the leaves of the plant. Abstract

Green building concept is a discourse that is expected to address the challenges of today development. The formulated of Green Building in these six criteria can be used as a guide to produce a sustainable design. The six criteria are Rightness Land Use, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Water Conservation, Material Sources & Cycles, Air Quality and Air Comfort in Space and Building Environmental Management. Green School Bali is buildings that perform green building. This educational institution has an concept that is combined education toward the environment create a healthy environment. This study aims to knowing the application of green building in the Green School Bali to use as a reference in designing. The research method used is literature study to analyze buildings. The results show that Green School Bali has implemented the six criteria of green building, especially in building design that can save energy consumption and use of bamboo materials in the entire building. Abstract

Surakarta is a city that has very rapid growth in many sectors such as in industry, services, settlements, education, trade and transportation. The main trading activity center or CBD (Central Bussiness Distric) in Surakarta City, is located in the Coyudan Surakarta shopping area, which makes this area becomes a strategic and congested traffic access point. This condition cause a high volume of traffic in the area. Motorized vehicle’s traffic activity on its road segment has a negative impact to surrounding area along the road segment as an air pollution. The more rapid transportation activities, especially motorized vehicles, are the main sources of air pollution in urban areas. The research method for this study is a survey method (for selecting research points) and approach analysis methods (using an empirical formula). The results of this study indicate that the parameters of exhaust emissions which include CO, HC, NO, and PM still meet the permitted air quality standards. However, it is expected that all people keep paying attention to both environmental conditions and the use of transportation facilities, as well as good traffic conditions, so that the problem of exhaust emissions due to traffic will not occur. Abstract

Air limbah domestik umumnya mengandung zat pencemar seperti Biological Oxigen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxigen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), dan partikel tercampur. Zat pencemar ini biasanya melebihi standar baku mutu.air limbah domestik berdasarkan peraturan Gubernur Jawa Timur nomor 52 tahun 2014. Teknologi yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknologi Moving Bed Biological Reactor (MBBR). Tujuannya yaitu mengkaji kemampuan MBBR bermedia kaldness terhadap penurunan beban pencemar pada limbah cair domestik. Air limbah domestik yang dijadikan sebagai sampel penelitian bersumber dari daerah Gembong RW 5 Surabaya. Penelitian dilakukan selama 7 hari untuk mengetahui seberapa besar efisiensi MBBR dalam menurunkan beban pencemar tersebut. Masa aklimatisasi berlangsung selama 18 hari untuk mencapai kondisi steady state. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan metode grafik. Hal ini dilakukan untuk memudahkan dalam pembacaan hasil analisis. Parameter limbah yang dianalsisi yaitu BOD5, COD dan TSS. Hasil pengamatan awal limbah cair domestik sebelum terolah adalah pada kadar BOD sebesar186,24 mg/L, kadar COD sebesar 352 mg/L dan kadar TSS sebesar 400 mg/L. Dari hasil pengamatan dilapangan diperoleh efisiensi penyisishan BOD5 adalah 83,3%, efisiensi COD sebesar 84,2% dan efisiensi penyisishan TSS sebesar 90%.

Abstract

Lack of green open space (RTH) can lead to flooding and even catastrophic flooding in the event of high rainfall intensity that falls in urban areas. Sunan Ampel State Islamic University Surabaya (UINSA) is one of the educational facilities in Surabaya City which is located in the flood prone area of Jemur Wonosari, Wonocolo. One of the technologies used to overcome inundation and flooding and to increase groundwater reserves is the Biopori Infiltration Hole (LRB). UINSA as one of the education facilities in Surabaya City can apply LRB technology to absorb rainwater so that it can reduce runoff of wasted rainwater into ditches to drainage systems. This study aims to determine the amount of LRB that can be applied in UINSA and the percentage of LRB in reducing drainage load. The method used is quantitative descriptive by conducting field survey of open land area, ground infiltration field test, soil type laboratory test and using secondary data daily rainfall. The results of the study showed that the number of LRB that can be applied at UINSA is 741 pieces in open spaces covering an area of 1481.84 m2 with a reduction in drainage load of 42.83%. Abstract

Garbage is still seen by some people as waste that is not useful, not as a resource that can be utilized. The approach to reduce at source and recycle resources through the implementation of 3R is a more comprehensive waste management policy. Sidoarjo Regency as one of the buffer zones of Surabaya City on a daily basis produces a large volume of waste. Based on data from the Department of Sanitation and Landscaping of Sidoarjo Regency, waste management in the region has not been implemented comprehensively. Although around 100 units of Garbage Banks have been formed on a community scale, the operational activities of each unit have not been optimal. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data was obtained by direct interviews with the Village / Village residents of the Prohibition and questionnaire, which were then analyzed. The amount of waste volume managed every month on average (Kg) shows a good amount. Waste waste is also used to increase the income of the waste bank customers in particular. Problems that occur both internal problems of institutions, technical problems, and problems outside the institution, internal problems of the institution that occur quite a lot is due to lack of awareness of the community to participate in waste management, while technical issues and problems outside the institution are not so significant. The existence of government support is needed in the sustainability of the waste bank in the Larangan District of Sidoarjo Regency, while the government support that has been implemented includes the provision of composter, supporting equipment, savings books and socialization to the community. Abstract

The Settlements near the Local Community Health Centers (LCHC) may have a negative impact on the settlement environment, especially is air quality due to the transportation sector near LCHC and community activities around the LCHC. This study evaluated air quality in three Settlements near the LCHC in Cimahi City, West Java Province, among others were: settlements in Cimahi Selatan, Cimahi Tengah and Cimahi Utara Districts. The air quality parameters were Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Ozone (O3), and Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) at three Locations of the Settlement. Air Quality Evaluation results indicate that all gaseous parameters were below air quality standards based on Government Law No.41 Year 1999 about Air Pollution Control, but Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) concentration in settlements of Cimahi Tengah and Cimahi Selatan Districts have exceeded the standard. However the lowest gaseous concentration was found in Settlement of Cimahi Tengah District. Abstract

Reklamasi adalah kegiatan pengelolaan tanah yang mencakup perbaikan kondisi fisik tanah (overburden) agar tidak terjadi longsor, pembuatan waduk untuk perbaikan kualitas air asam tambang yang beracun, yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan revegetasi. Kegiatan reklamasi penting dilakukan untuk memperbaiki lahan bekas tambang. Pada umumnya tanah di lahan bekas tambang mengandung kadar unsur hara yang rendah. Reklamasi dan revegetasi merupakan kegiatan yang dilakukan untuk memperbaiki kondisilahan pasca penambangan. (Pujawati, 2009). Dalam melaksanakan reklamasi, pemerintah mengeluarkan berbagai kebijakan guna memastikan bahwa setiap perusahaan wajib melaksanakan reklamasi dengan benar, baik dan sungguh-sungguh, serta menyetorkan dana jaminan reklamasi. Untuk merealisasikannya, perlu dilakukan adanya perizinan, yaitu setiap perusahaan yang melakukan kegiatan pertambangan harus segera merencanakan bentuk kegiatan pasca tambang (reklamasi) di atas areal tambang yang digunakan paling lambat satu bulan setelah tidak ada lagi kegiatan usaha pertambangan pada lahan yang terganggu. Selain itu, perlu juga dilakukan pengendalian lahan pasca tambang dengan memadukan pembenahan lahan, dan pemilihan jenis tanaman yang tepat, yaitu dengan kriteria berjenis local pioner cepat tumbuh, tahan terpapar matahari, cepat terdekomposisi, sistem perakaran yang baik dan bersimbiosis dengan mikroorganisme tertentu, mudah dan murah dalam perbanyakan, penanaman dan pemeliharaan. Kata Kunci: reklamasi, lahan, kebijakan, perizinan.

Abstract

Research has been done on the manufacture and testing of paving blocks with plastic and organic waste materials using a press machine. The purpose of this study is to determine the compressive strength of paving blocks and as a solution for handling waste around us. The results of manual making paving block research with 100% plastic waste, the highest value was 110.4 kg/cm2 and the lowest was 42.2 kg/cm2 and the highest organic mixture was 99.8 kg/cm2 and the lowest was 56.0 kg/cm2. Whereas in the masinal pembutan produce value with 100% plastic waste 113,9 kg/cm2 the lowest value 78,4 kg/cm2. Paving blocks with plastic waste materials are in accordance with SNI quality qualifications. Keywords: plastic waste, organic mixture, paving block, hard test press, machine press.
