Abstract

Code-switching (CS) nowadays has been used by youth as a daily language among them and reflected in the “Halustik” movie. The aims of the research are to find out the category of CS spoken by the speakers and to explore their communication intentions to switch from one code to another in the movie which depicts urban life among young people. In the movie, the casts speak and communicate in four languages (Indonesian, English, Javanese, and Sundanese). Qualitative research data were collected by identifying the CS utterances from words, phrases, clauses, and sentences spoken by the main casts/characters in the movie. Next, the data were categorized, selected based on the categories of CS, and classified based on communicative intentions. The findings show that intra-sentential CS (60%) was the most used category of CS, followed by tag CS (4%), and inter-sentential CS (36%). Concerning the communicative intentions by the speakers, they alternate the language into another language since they are intended to talking about a certain topic (60%), quoting someone's words (11%), feeling empathy for something (expressing solidarity) (4%), providing interjection (4%), giving repetition for clarification (7%), clarifying the content of speech to the interlocutor (9%), and expressing a group identity (4%).

Abstract

In teaching and learning activities, the learning model is an important part of the learning tools that must be prepared by the teacher before teaching. The available learning models also vary, according to their respective functions. One of the learning models that is widely used is the Discovery Learning model. This learning model makes student more active, can think more critically, develop creativity, and also make student more independent. The Discovery Learning model makes student more involved in learning activities and teachers only as facilitators ini learning. That way, student can be more comfortable and stimulated ini learning by using this Discovery Learning model.

Abstract

Effective learning needs to be supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure that are approved in finding relevant references and materials. In the field, learning is quite difficult in the learning process because of limited referrals/material. Therefore, it is necessary to design a module that is by following the syllabus (RPS) that helps students learn independently. The purpose of the research is to find the needs and desires that are expected in the course modules in linguistic/literature research methods. The research method used was conducting a survey using questionnaires and conducting interviews. The questionnaire analyzes the needs of students and lecturers who are then analyzed by identifying based on their needs. The questionnaire for needs analysis is published with SurveyMonkey media application to facilitate the process of filling out the questionnaire. The results of the interview activities will be described qualitatively based on field observations. The subjects of the study were 100 students in the 6th semester and three lecturers who were lecturers parallel to this course. Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dari tindak tutur ekspresif yang ada pada setiap tokoh dalam pementasan drama. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah tuturan yang ada pada tokoh dalam pementasan drama yang berjudul Ayahku Pulang yang dituliskan oleh Usmar Ismail yang dipentaskan oleh Teater Tuang. Data yang digunakan adalah tuturan dari tokoh yang sesuai dengan teori tindak tutur ekspresif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan transkripsi pada video pementasan drama yang kemudian dilakukan pengelompokkan sesusai dengan indikator yang telah disiapkan, yang kemudian data tersebut dianalisis dengan bentuk deksriptif. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa tindak tutur ekspresif dalam pementasan drama ditemukan 10 jenis yaitu: (1) tindak tutur permintaan maaf, (2) tindak tutur mengancam, (3) tindak tutur menyalahkan, (4) tindak tutur kesedihan (5) tindak tutur menyetujui, (6) tindak tutur marah, (7) tindak tutur kesenangan, (8) tindak tutur malu, (9) tindak tutur terkejut, dan (10) tindak tutur heran. Dan Strategi tindak tutur ekspresif ditemukan 1) Strategi bertutur terus terang tanpa basa-basi, 2) Strategi berterus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan negatif, 3) Strategi berterus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif.

Abstract

This study intends to reveal the satire about Jihad concept misunderstanding which causes negative image for Islam that caused by irresponsible British Moslems. They act without sufficient religious understanding and only out of lust to get rid of the unjust infidels towards minority Moslems. So, with the analysis of the signifier-signified of Saussure's semiotic theory, it’s hoped that satire can be conveyed, understood and aware by the parties who become the targets of satire. This study has a significance for eliminating misunderstandings about Islam which are always associated with terrorism, namely stupid acts that only harm fellow Moslems. This study will use a qualitative method because it related to phenomena in society. In this study, film as the object where the data are collected and supported by literature studies. The results from 20 data contain signifier and signified of radical Moslem’s act who misunderstanding about Jihad then satire that is intended to prove those who deviate are not acting in the name of Islam, terrorism is a stupid act and British government must be more fair to minorities. It’s recommended for further studies to examine Islamophobia in Asia with poster as the object the uses qualitative method and Peircean semiotics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the inner structure, especially the theme, meaning, and atmosphere contained in the poetry anthology Ayat-Ayat Api by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The poetry anthology of Ayat-Ayat Api is a collection of selected poems in which there are poems set in the events of the New Order era. The method used by the author in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The data collection technique used was literature, reading, taking notes, and document analysis in the form of the poetry book itself entitled Ayat-Ayat Api by Sapardi Djoko Damono which was published in 2017 by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama Jakarta. The book has a thickness of 88 pages which is divided into three parts, namely Verse Zero, Verse Watches, and Ayat Api. Data taken from the poetry anthology Ayat-Ayat Api in the form of words, sentences, and poetry quotes that are the keywords of the poem. The results showed that the ten poems analyzed had various themes, meanings, and different atmospheres, including: 1) humanity, 2) social criticism, 3) hope, 4) anxiety, 5) death, 6) divinity, and 7) populist and democracy.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the meaning and social values contained in Olo's oral literary traditional. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research, and includes field research. The data collection uses closed interview techniques.The validity of the data using resource triangulation, data analysis using the techniques of data collection, selection and reduction, presentation, analysis, data crosscheck and drawing conclusions. The results of this research are that Olo is an oral literature sing using bamboo gongs and flutes as accompanying traditional musical instruments. The social values in it contain the social values of love, mutual cooperation and solidarity in the social life. The social value of love is in the form of feelings of mutual love between a man and woman in the bonds of marriage, and the value of mutual cooperation where there is unity in working together to achieve common goals in the implementation of Olo literary tradition. The social value of solidarity in social life is the presence of fraternity, brotherhood and social relations in the life of society.

Abstract

This research aims to describe representative speech act in the antology of drama script “Sarapan Terakhir”. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The object of this research is representative speech act in the antology of drama script “Sarapan Terakhir”. The data source of this research is the speeches of the characters in the antology of drama script “Sarapan Terakhir”. Data collection techniques used in this study are library techniques, namely reading, listening, recording, and analyzing. Based on the results of the study, there were a number of representative speech acts from three drama texts in the antology of drama script “Sarapan Terakhir” Based on the results of the study, showed that the representative speech act stating there are 78 data, most widely used in the antology of drama script “Sarapan Terakhir”. Second, followed by a representative speech act sugesting there are 75 data. Third, representative speech acts reported 51 data. Fourth, representative speech acts complaining that there are 50 data, Fifth, representative speech acts claim 46 data. Sixth, representative speech acts boasting there are 9 data.

Abstract

At first, students' low literary reading experience became a thought to find effective strategies so that students were interested in reading and got the concept of learning experience by thinking critically. To achieve this kind of condition, students' familiarity with literary works accompanied by an understanding of critical reviews is absolutely necessary. Meta-analysis provides a strategy that can be used by lecturers to strengthen the Literature Reading Competency Standards (SKL). This study aims to reveal the use of meta-analysis strategies in strengthening SKL Reading Literature for students majoring in Language. This research uses descriptive analysis method. The data collection stage was carried out through literature study (critical review), interviews, and observations. The results showed that there was a correlation that could be correlated between the achievement of SKL Reading Literature through meta-analysis strategies. Furthermore, the meta-analysis learning design in Literature Reading SKL Achievement is carried out in four stages, namely determining the literary period (problem formulation), determining and selecting literary reading results, reading literary works, and presenting the literary reading meta-analysis report

Abstract

This study has four objectives, namely 1) describing the forms and characteristics of spoken language variations, 2) explaining linguistic and non-linguistic elements in spoken language variations, 3) explaining the stages of spoken language variations, and 4) describing the form of conversational structures related to functional models. take turns talking in learning at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Genteng. To answer the problems formulated by the researchers, it was carried out using the theory of variations in spoken language with the functional method of speech rotation. This research belongs to the type of descriptive research with qualitative analysis data processing techniques. Data and Sources of data in this study in the form of transcripts of learning activities carried out by teachers and students who are in progress. The results of the research obtained are that Indonesian Language Learning in the Editorial Text of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Genteng shows that there is a shift in speech and the use of language variations in the learning process. In the interaction or communication carried out in learning activities, the five structures or organizations of the conversation will be linked, namely speaking shifts, pauses, overlaps, back channels, and agency pairs.
