Jurnal AL - AZHAR SERI HUMANIORA merupakan jurnal ilmiah yang memuat makalah dan artikel hasil penelitian atau kajian teoristis dalam bidang Humaniora. Kata Al-Azhar berakar dari z-h-r. Verba zahara bermakna to shine, give light, be radiant, to glow, gleam, glare, shine, to blossom, be in bloom (Wehr, 1974:384). Dengan demikian kata Al-Azhar berarti sesuatu yang bersinar, yang memberi cahaya, yang berseri-seri atau yang mekar. Abstract

The process of memorizing the Koran requires many strategies and challenges. It is certainly not easy for husband and wife couples who have domestic duties to memorize the Koran. The research on the psychological well-being of husbands and wives who memorize the Koran was conducted in order to understand the dynamics they face in terms of psychological well-being. This research used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and applies instruments through observation and interviews, both directly and indirectly. The subjects in this study consisted of 2 husband and wife couples who lived in Kudus Regency. Subjects were selected through snowball sampling. The results of this study showed that husband and wife memorized the Koran to give glory to their parents and to implement their knowledge in daily life and pursue happiness in the afterlife. Other results included other psychological functions which are assessed, that are the desire to continue to develop into a better person, a harmonious family, mutual acceptance of each partner's strengths and weaknesses, managing daily activities, being yourself, and establishing positive relationships with other people.Keywords - Hafiz Al-Qur’an, Husband and Wife, Psychological Well Being.

Abstract

Higher education institutions (HEIs) are establishments that offer education, instruction, research, and services across fields of science and technology. Autonomy, in management, categorizes state universities (PTNs) based on their structure. State universities with status (PTN-BH) hold the position in resource management within the campus hierarchy of state universities. This study adopts an approach incorporating a literature review methodology and analysis through Michel Foucault's theory on the interplay between power and knowledge. This study aims to understand how power shapes the identity and norms of universities and to analyze the dynamics of HEIs in the context of economic priorities and their implications for democracy. The findings indicate that power influences the regulation of knowledge creation presenting both challenges and opportunities for PTN-BH. Michel Foucault's theory underscores how power shapes university identities and norms. The evolution of PTN-BH signifies a transition towards prioritizing concerns, over welfare, impacting democratic ideals.Keywords – Knowledge, Michel Foucault, Power, PTN-BH

Abstract

This research focused on the patterns of social criticism found in the poems of Fadli Zon and Tamim, both of whom are political experts, through a comparison of their similarities and differences. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection method employed is the reading and note-taking method. The data sources are Fadli Zon's poem titled "Negeri di Ujung Jurang" and Tamim Barghouti's poem titled "Ayyuha al-Nas." The results of this research showed that the social criticism in the poems of Fadli Zon and Tamim each have their own distinctive characteristics. Different political perspectives are also evident in these poems through the issues raised. However, both Fadli Zon and Tamim obscured the countries they refer to, albeit for different purposes. Fadli Zon obscured the country he criticizes, while Tamim obscured the country he defends.Keywords – Critic, Fadli Zon, Poem, Politic, Tamim.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theme and thematic progression and compare both student’s and standardized descriptive texts. Additionally, the research would delve into the pedagogical implication in teaching a descriptive text. A text from a student of a senior high school in Semarang, Indonesia and a TOEFL Practice text were collected in the document analysis. Thematic analysis was done by applying SFL principles. The result showed that both texts employed textual and topical theme system mostly with model’s text using an interpersonal theme once. the student’s descriptive text had few missing themes which also indicated that it had grammatical mistakes that need to be given attention when teaching language to learners. Both texts served the thematic progression of zig-zag and reiteration as descriptive text aims to describe and identify an object. Although, the student had chosen few multiple patterns and seldom had no pattern in the text. Furthermore, the integration of thematic system studies and thematic development towards a descriptive text through modeling and construction activities can contribute greatly to providing substantial learning benefits to promote language proficiency and efficient communication skills.Keywords - Theme progression; SFL; Descriptive text; ELT.

Abstract

Losing a parent due to death is a meaningful event and has a profound impact on adolescents. It often creates a sense of sadness, loss and ongoing trauma. The role of parents is very important in supporting the developmental stages of adolescents. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to evaluate the influence and relationship between social support and resilience in adolescents after the death of a parent. The data for analysis is obtained through Google Scholar, accessed through Publish or Perish (Pop) using the keywords "social support" "resilience" and "adolescents after the death of a parent" resulting in 6 sources of journal articles and scientific papers that are worthy and in accordance with the research topic for further analysis. The results of the literature analysis show that social support has a positive contribution to resilience in adolescents who experience the loss of a parent due to death. Forms of social support that play a role in increasing resilience in adolescents include support from family and peers which are formed through emotional support and their direct presence in accompanying adolescents during difficult times after the death of their parents. This study confirms that the greater the social support received, the higher the level of resilience of adolescents in adapting, continuing self-development and facing life with optimism after the death of parent and better mentalityKeywords - Adolescents, Death of Parents, Social support, Resilience.

Abstract

A translated drama script is a work that combines many elements from narrative structure to social and artistic aspects. Translating a drama script into another language requires a deep understanding of its cultural aspects, language and artistic nuances. This translation process not only changes the words, but also adjusts artistic elements, maintains the essence of the original story, and understands and reproduces the meaning contained in the drama. This research aims to comprehend the storyline in a translated drama script using the Traditional Narrative Analysis Method in the work "Badak-badak," a translation of "Rhinocéros" by Eugene Ionesco. The research results reveal that this manuscript carries the theme of the transformation of humans into rhinos with a linear plot that follows the chronology of events. Various key characters interact in a tavern as the main setting. The storyline visualization maps events from introduction to resolution, including Slamet's drinking routine, the appearance of the rhino, character transformation, and Slamet's state of isolation. This understanding influences many aspects, including learning, teaching, and theater practice. Storyline visualization provides a foundation for cultural exploration, deeper learning, and provides guidance in planning theatrical productions. An in-depth understanding of the storyline of a translated drama script not only enriches the learning experience of theater students, but also supports the design of a cohesive and strong theater production.Keywords – Badak-badak, Narrative Structure, Rhinoceros, Translated Drama Script.

Abstract

This research explores the role of the body in the Irish literary work, Normal People. Written by renowned Irish author Sally Rooney, the novel narrates how contemporary Irish society experiences shifts in its social structure. It delves into the lives of young Irish characters as they navigate social and political upheaval in relation to the Western culture that serves as their cultural axis. This culture is, in part, represented through the colonized form of the body. Rooney elevates this concept to emphasize her political stance that the body has become a manifesto in the ideological struggle against the encroaching Western influences. By employing Lucien Goldmann’s theoretical framework, this article demonstrates the intersection of the body and alcohol, connecting the historical memory of the Republic of Ireland with Northern Ireland. Moreover, the article contends that the United States of America has colonized the bodies of the Republic of Ireland’s society through the consumer patterns of popular culture introduced in television advertisements.Keywords – Alcohol, Colonization, Political Beliefs, Popular Culture, Television Commercials.

Abstract

Researches on ideational meaning have been widely reported, but rarely do they compare transitivity analysis systems on two similar texts. The aim of the study deals with the transitivity system of the descriptive texts of the model text taken from a TOEFL exercises book and the student’s text written by a tenth grade student of SMA Islam Al Azhar 15 Semarang. It also explores how the understanding of experiential grammar informs pedagogical practices. The research approach of the study was descriptive qualitative completed by textual analysis using Halliday’s SFL theory. The result of the transitivity system shows that the model text and the student’s text employed different types of processes. However, both texts present a similar transitivity pattern in the dominance of material processes and circumstances of location. One incomplete clause in the student’s text caused the attributive process not to appear. All in all, the main linguistic features of descriptive text, relational processes, are not accurately employed in the texts. Knowledge of experiential grammar brings potential benefits for both learning and teaching. It enhances student learning by providing an understanding of authorial intent and grammatical structure, and empowers educators to create useful instructional approaches to improve students' writing and critical thinking skills.Keywords - Descriptive Text, Ideational Meaning, SFL, Transitivity System.

Abstract

Contemporary Arab literary criticism has established certain standards of evaluation, significantly differing from the periods of Jahiliyyah to the Umayyad era. This research aims to elucidate the standards of Arab literary criticism in contemporary times, focusing on the book "Uṣūl al-Naqd al-Adabiy" by Ahmad Asy-Syāyib, one of the contemporary literary figures and critics. The research methodology employed a descriptive qualitative approach, specifically a literature review. The findings reveal that contemporary Arab literary criticism encompasses objective aspects related to language, style, and literary structure, as well as subjective aspects dependent on individual preferences. Additionally, Ahmad Asy-Syāyib emphasizes the importance of preserving and valuing the uniqueness of Arab literature in the realm of literary criticism amidst modernization trends and Western influences.Keywords - Ahmad Asy-Syāyib, Arab Literary Criticism, Contemporary, Uṣūl Al-Naqd Al-Adabiy.
