Abstract

Title: Interpretation of Deleuze and Guattari Theories in Architecture Philosophy influenced all architects through theories of philosophy which is it acted as a set of the idea to practice in design. It is can be looked at the contemporary architectural trend which trying to demonstrated the deconstruction philosophy through architecture style, or it is can be observed in architecture literature which trying to adopt the philosophy of phenomenology and so forth. These examples revealed that there are relationship between philosophy and architecture. So, In this case, the philosophy become very important and then to be an alternative in term of exploration and searching the new concepts of creation of architecture. Both of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guatari are thinkers or philosophers that revolutionary. Their thought influenced architecture although not so much whom that directly apply their work. In this paper, we try to interprete their toughts which covered Desire-Machine Concept, Territorialization- Deterritorializatiion-Reterritorialization Concept, and Rhizome-Tree Concept as well as its application in the field of architecture. It can be an image or an idea of design.

Abstract

Title: Correlation of Residential Satisfaction and Housing Characteristics: A Meta-Analysis Development of life today shows remarkable changes in social circumstances including the one of which is design manufacture building or residence. The designers often try to give shape according to changes in the environment, but does not fit with the constraints faced. From this it can be seen how the shelter was made which would also be an impact on the behavior of its inhabitants, based on the map of the research results that inhabit satisfaction is influenced by characteristics of the dwelling, such as lighting, size, number and state of the room. From a variety of research on this, it seems less consistency in the results, so we need another way of studying the meta-analysis. The purpose of this study was to assess the results of research that has been done by researchers in the field of architecture and environmental psychology, that housing characteristics are consistently associated with satisfaction of inhabitants. The meta-analysis resulted in the housing characteristics contribute to inhabitants satisfaction.

Abstract

Title: Culture of Tectonics Wologai – Ende, a Traditional House Constructed of Art Central Wologai Village, District Detusoko, Ancestral Heritage, Waeo – Ata Lio Under the Foothills of Lepembusu As a counterbalance to globalization in the field of architecture, an in-depth understanding of local architecture had been seen as an opportunity for a region to play an active role in the global era. One way to develop an understanding of local architecture is through the art of construction, or widely known as tectonics. The word architecture itself was known to derive from the word archi, which means master and tekton, which means woodworker (carpenter) or builder. Thus, the study of tectonics was important to understand how architects express their ideas through an integrated architectural - structural system. Unfortunately, profound research into this field has rarely been conducted so far. This study aims to an understanding of architectural tectonics in Wologai, Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur. As one of the oldest village in Flores, the indigenuous people of Wologai had been known for surviving the pressures of the developing world whilst maintaining their unique culture that were reflected in their vernacular buildings. This study consists of the following steps: Firstly, to record how local builders built their architecture through observation and interviews. Secondly, to develop an understanding about architectural tectonics based on related literature. The last step was to analyse and formulate architectural tectonics of Wologai vernacular architecture.

Abstract

Title: The Improvement of Old Building Visibility, Krembangan Barat Street of Surabaya as of Case Study High development in the City center forces old building losing its existence. The main factor old buildings losing its existences are the lack of skyline guideline (new buildings obstruct the view toward old buildings), the changes of traffic direction, and the selection of vegetation type. This paper discusses a brief evaluation of old building visibility through visual experiences, and gives a schematic design as proposal for jalan Krembangan Barat. Serial vision technique analysis is addressed in order to gain the visual and spatial experiences of the built environment. Result shows that three spots of place should be improved in order to perceive the visibility by rehabilitating, adaptive re-using, and providing pedestrian ways to connect one potential spot to others in the corridor of Krembangan Barat.

Title: Adaptive Homestay as a Form of Community Participation to Preserve Pentingsari Tourist Village, Yogyakarta The development of tourism in a tourist destination is linked to the development of economic sectors in the region or the country. The development of tourism is expected to bring benefits to the community. Yogyakarta as one of the tourist destinations has developed a range of alternatives that can be offered to travelers. Pentingsari tourist village is one of the mainstay tourism village in Yogyakarta. The village has been proven to run well and maintained its continuity since 2008. Preservation of the village was made possible through the participation of citizens to participate and engage in their village tourism activities. One that supports the success of ecotourism activities is homestay. In relation to the tourism industry, homestay can be described as two things: as a tourist attraction and as a tourist accommodation. Pentingsari village already has homestays which are village houses that already run well. This research seeks homestay relevance as a form of citizen participation in the rural tourism industry while maintaining the conservation of the environment. The methods used is participatory research action by field observation, in depth interviews and historical documents tracing. This is to determine how much the role of citizens to preserve the environment before and after becoming a tourist village. These results indicate a model of rural tourism development.

Abstract

Title: Spatial Planning of Tradisional Architecture as Observed among the Atoni Tribe in the Tamkesi Kampong on Timor Island This research aims to investigate the concept of spatial planning found in the traditional architecture of the Atoni tribe living in the traditional kampong of Tamkesi on Timor Island. The method employed for this research project consists of the following steps: first of all, to record and re-sketch the entire physical state of this kampong in the greatest possible detail. The result of these sketches is subsequently subjected to an anatomical analysis to arrive a classification of the relationship between all of the elements encountered and scrutinized; secondly, to make an analysis by exposing the latter to the principles of identification and orientation. The analysis is based on an elaboration of the phenomenological approach by Norberg-Schulz and the structural approach involving function-form-meaning by Salura. Based on the outcome of this analysis, the local concept serves as the basis for the spatial planning of traditional architecture as observed in the Tamkesi kampong. The conclusion drawn reveals that the relationship between the immediate environment, the site, form, framwork and the natural-cultural cycle in traditional architecture is clearly influenced by the concept of top-down (upper vs. lower) hierarchy as well as the binding element (datum) of the tribal order (hierarchy, the gender code/etiquette, ethnic bonds and traditional customs as well as cultural and spiritual symbols).

Abstract

Title: The Performance of Niang House in the Tropical Highland of Manggarai District Niang home is one of the ten varieties of Traditional Architecture in East Nusa Tenggara Province located in the highlands of Manggarai district (800 - 1200 meters above sea level) with its peculiarities, namely the circular floor plan and a conical roof. Niang home is growth by people with all kinds of traditions and utilize a variety of local potentials such as materials, technology and knowledge. But local potentials such as the use of lightweight materials such problems occur in upland areas that tend to be cold because the thermal properties of lightweight material is loose and flowing out so that it can potentially create underheating and conditions affecting comfort conditions in buildings. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of house design of Niang in response to thermal conditions in the highlands and analyze the behaviour of the material of the design elements that affect the thermal performance of the house of Niang. The study was conducted by the method of observation and simulation with the help of software ARCHIPAK version 5.0. The final results of this study indicate that the design of Niang house can not provide adequate thermal comfort, especially at night until morning, where the condition of the buildings tend to underheating in considerable period of time. From the simulation can also be seen that the floor and the roof is the most critical element of the heat release.
