Abstract

This study aims to explore the use of traditional Damar Kurung art from Gresik as a medium for learning mathematics to improve the understanding of the concept of volume in elementary school students. Damar Kurung art, known as a three-dimensional wood carving art, was chosen as a learning aid to visualize the concept of volume in real terms. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving observation, interviews, and documentation in the classroom that applies Damar Kurung art as a medium for learning mathematics. The results of the study are expected to show that the use of this traditional art can help students understand the concept of volume in a more contextual and interesting way. In addition, this study also aims to provide alternative learning methods based on local culture, as well as to contribute to innovation in mathematics learning at the elementary school level. Thus, it is hoped that Damar Kurung art can be an effective and relevant learning medium in improving students' understanding of mathematics.

Abstract

Interactive media can facilitate engaging and enjoyable learning experiences. One medium that meets these criteria is Genially-integrated interactive learning media. This study aims to explore students' perceptions of the use of Genially-integrated interactive learning media in science education. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using a questionnaire distributed to 29 fourth-grade students. The questionnaire consisted of 12 statements covering aspects of student satisfaction, comfort, interest, and learning effectiveness. The collected data were analyzed using percentage criteria for perception scores. Results revealed that students responded positively to Genially-integrated interactive learning media, with a high level of agreement ranging from 83% to 90%. This favorable response is attributed to the media’s various interactive features, which enhance its functionality as a learning tool. The findings suggest that Genially-integrated interactive learning media can serve as a reference for classroom learning, particularly to boost student motivation and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of using manipulative media on enhancing the mathematical representation skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was used. The research was conducted at SDN Sumberwuluh 1 Mojokerto, with a sample of fourth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through mathematical representation ability tests, teacher and student activity observation sheets, and documentation. The results showed that manipulative media had a significantly positive effect on students' mathematical representation skills. The experimental group exhibited higher improvement than the control group, with an average N-Gain Score of 0.71 (high category). Aspects of students' visual, symbolic, and verbal representation experienced significant improvement. In conclusion, manipulative media helps students connect abstract concepts with concrete representations, facilitating a deeper understanding of mathematics.

Abstract

Kodular is a web-based platform that provides a variety of features for creating Android applications. Its function is very similar to MIT App Inventor, with the main purpose of making Android application development easier. The purpose of this research is to develop an online learning application that can be accessed through Android-based smartphone. This application is designed using the Kodular platform and developed through the SDLC method of the Waterfall model, which includes the stages of need, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance. The results of the discussion of this research are the components that make up the screen display of the magic words application: learning to read which includes: 1) start page display, 2) introduction menu page display, 3) main menu page display, 4) introduction menu display, 5) quiz menu display, 6) menu display about the application. The conclusion of this research is that there are 5 stages in making the magic words application: learning to read using a codular website

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of study time and lecturer competence on the learning outcomes of Informatics students at Universitas Amikom Purwokerto. The method used in this research is quantitative with a survey approach and statistical analysis. The sample consisted of 64 students who had completed the Calculus course in the 2022/2023 academic year. Data were collected from the students' final grades and analyzed using multiple linear regression tests. The analysis results indicated no significant influence between study time (morning and afternoon) and lecturer competence on student learning outcomes, both simultaneously and individually. The F-test and t-test results demonstrated that both independent variables were insignificant in influencing student learning outcomes. Therefore, it can be concluded that study time and lecturer competence statistically do not significantly contribute to students' academic achievement in the Calculus course. This research suggests that other factors, such as teaching methods and student motivation, may play a more crucial role in determining academic success.

Abstract

Students’ learning motivation is an important factor that influences the success of learning in elementary schools. The role-playing method has become one of the approaches that can enhance students' learning motivation on the topic of human development stages. Currently, learning in elementary schools often still uses conventional methods, which can decrease students' interest. By engaging in role playing, students are invited to actively participate and directly experience relevant roles, which is expected to enhance their involvement and understanding. This research aims to increase students' learning motivation through the application of role playing on human development stage material in elementary school. The research method used is classroom action research. Data collection was carried out by observing the implementation of learning using the role-playing method, observing students' learning motivation, and tests to measure learning outcomes. The results of classroom action research show an increase in the average of students' learning motivation between cycle I and cycle II, namely in cycle I the average of students' learning motivation was 63.5% to 85.4 in cycle 2. This increase in students' learning motivation is also related to the increase in students' learning outcomes between cycle I and cycle 2, namely in cycle 1 the average student score was 72.6 to 86.3 in cycle 2.

Abstract

This study examines the role of self-awareness in the development of social-emotional competencies among primary school students. Self-awareness, as a key aspect of emotional intelligence, enables students to recognize and manage their emotions, understand their strengths and weaknesses, make decisions, express their thoughts, and evaluate their actions. The research was conducted at SDN Bogoarum 2, with 16 students from grades 5 and 6 as subjects. Data were collected using a self-awareness questionnaire based on Daniel Goleman’s theory, complemented by interviews with teachers. The results showed that 68.75% of students exhibited a high level of self-awareness, while the remaining 31.25% scored lower. The study found that self-awareness positively influenced emotional regulation, decision-making, and self-expression. However, areas such as making decisions and articulating thoughts needed further improvement. These findings underscore the importance of self-awareness in fostering emotional and social development in students, which is crucial for their academic success and interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the effectiveness of problem-based learning model on mathematical problems solving ability of the tenth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Kedungadem, Bojonegoro. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique in this study was a cluster random sampling involving 2 classes consisting of 35 students for the experimental class and 35 students for the control class. The instrument used in this research was a test (include pre-test and post-test) of students' mathematical problem solving ability in the form of essay questions. The results showed that the class taught by problem-based learning model had an average score of 82.6, while the control class had an average score of 73.57. Furthermore, in Independent Sample T-Test, the calculated value>t- table (4.033> 2.007) means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Then, it can be concluded that problem-based learning model is effective in improving mathematical problems solving ability of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kedungadem, Bojonegoro.
