Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the education sector and caused stress for first-year students who have to adapt to a period of continence in higher education. Students can deal with stress using coping methods, but the coping mechanisms they choose may not always reduce stress. Coping strategies are not the only way to deal with stress; perceived social support also contribute to students’ stress levels. This study aims to determine the role of perceived social support as a mediator between coping and stress in first-year students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the cluster random sampling technique , 437 first-year students were selected, comprising 111 men and 326 women, as participants. The instruments for data collection were DASS-21, Brief COPE-28, and ISEL-16. The data were analyzed using the Sobel test technique. The indirect effect results show that perceived social support is a mediator between problem-focused coping (PFC) with stress (p < 0.001; β = -0.027), emotion-focused coping (EFC) with stress (p < 0.001; β = -0.020), and avoidant coping (AVC) with stress (p < 0.001; β = 0.035). Perceived social support has a full mediation effect on the relationship between PFC and stress, the relationship between EFC and stress, and a partial mediation effect on the relationship between AVC and stress. PFC and EFC will not be able to play a significant role in reducing stress levels if there is no perception of social support. This study provides findings that when first-year students use AVC, the environment needs to provide positive social support. Therefore, the role of AVC is reduced and stress levels are reduced. The findings of the mediating role of perceived social support are beneficial because they provide empirical evidence for theoretical and practical implications. Abstract

Depression, anxiety, and stress in adolescents require therapy as these conditions are likely to cause harm to both the individuals experiencing them and their surroundings. Therefore, it is important to create an intervention for this age group. E-Group Art Journal Therapy is an intervention which involves art as its approach and is conducted in groups through an online platform, Zoom Meeting. In this study, ten participants were divided into two groups: the control group and the experimental group. Participants were recruited through non-random sampling using these criteria: they were required to be active students, reside in Bali, be between 18-23 years old, have a moderate level of stress, moderate level of anxiety, low level of depression based on Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS), and agree to participate in the study. This study employed a mixed method which produced both quantitative and qualitative data that were analyzed with Wilcoxon rank-sum test and theoretical coding. The results showed that there were score differences between the control group and the experimental group in terms of depression, anxiety, and stress levels. Qualitatively, there were also psychological changes among the five participants from the experimental group. Implementing an intervention in groups could be beneficial because the group activities created mutual situations. Creating artwork also contributed to therapeutic processes. Quantitatively, there was a significant decrease in depression score. Qualitatively, E-GAJT encouraged the participants to believe in their potential despite their upbringing in an unsupportive environment. This encouragement fostered greater courage, enabling them to take steps toward achieving goals and creating healthier boundaries. Keyword: Adolescent, DASS; group; psychotherapy; virtual.

Abstract

Parents have to nurture a good relationship with adolescents to avert self-harmful behavior and suicidal ideation, which increasingly happen. This research aims to understand the effect of parent-child relationships on self-harm behavior and suicidal ideation. The subjects of this study are 1063 junior high school (JHS) and senior high school (SHS) students in Tarakanita Foundation (TF). This research is a double linear regression based on the t-test and f-test, which use the t-table and f-table. This research shows a significant effect between parent-child relationships and self-harmful behavior. A good, safe, and loving relationship with parents can prevent adolescents from self-harmful behavior and suicidal ideation. On the other hand, a disharmonious relationship between parents and adolescents, such as an experience of violence, feeling depressed, and a traumatic experience in the family, is why adolescents harm themselves and have suicidal ideation. Based on this study, parents are expected to nurture a good relationship with their children. The benefit of research is that it provides parents with a good understanding of the dangers of self-harm behavior and how to handle it appropriately by parents or professionals who can help parents deal with self-harm behavior in their adolescence. This research is also useful as the information that the importance of building strong and healthy relationships with children is becoming increasingly important; thus, appropriate behavior. Abstract

Psychological wellbeing is crucial for adults, as it impacts their mental and physical health, social relationships, work, personal growth, resilience, and overall life satisfaction. The objective of this study is to thoroughly examine the correlation between gratitude and its dimensions with the psychological wellbeing of adult women, with meaning of life as a mediator. Participants in this study were 270 middle-aged women aged between 40-60 years, Muslim, and domiciled in Padang Terubuk Village, Senapelan Sub-district, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province using incidental sampling technique. The measurement instruments used were the psychological wellbeing scale, gratitude scale, and meaning of life scale. The data analysis technique used was mediation regression analysis using bootstrapping of the PROCESS macro-Hayes. The research results indicate that gratitude can positively contribute to psychological wellbeing, both directly and when mediated by meaning of life. The contribution of gratitude to psychological wellbeing is greater when mediated by meaning of life compared to when correlated directly. This implies that when individuals express gratitude for their lives, their lives become more meaningful, ultimately resulting in psychological wellbeing. Abstract

School-aged children are at risk of becoming victims of sexual abuse, highlighting the need for early self-protection programs. These programs should provide knowledge, training, and assertive actions as part of preventive psychoeducation for children. Studies show that between 20% and 33% of girls and 10% to 16% of boys will experience sexual abuse before reaching 18 years old. The Self-Protection Model aims to serve as an early protection program by equipping children with the knowledge to recognize and identify sexual abuse. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach. The sampling method used was purposive sampling on 20 subjects consisting of male and female students who met the following criteria: aged 9-12 years and elementary school students. The measurement tools used were assertiveness scale and knowledge scale. The analysis using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test, demonstrated that the self-protection model significantly contributes to children's knowledge and assertive behavior in response to sexual violence. Efforts to prevent sexual violence should be directed at children, emphasizing the importance of providing knowledge and examples of assertive behavior. This study's findings indicated a significant improvement in children's knowledge and assertive behavior following the implementation of the Self Protection Model intervention, thereby empowering them to apply the newly acquired skills as a preventive strategy against sexual violence. Abstract

One of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic is that many micro businesses have gone bankrupt or even closed their businesses. Micro businesses require entrepreneurial readiness to restart and manage their enterprises effectively. This study aimed to analyze the influence of the model of future orientation and self-efficacy on entrepreneurial readiness in micro-enterprises located in Sleman Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach, focusing on micro-enterprises in Sleman Regency that are members of the 'Sobat PLUT' group in 2022. The sample consisted of 85 under 40 micro-entrepreneurs whose businesses experienced losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study utilized purposive sampling as its sampling technique. Data collection involved three scales: the entrepreneurial readiness scale, the future orientation scale, and the self-efficacy scale. Data analysis was conducted by testing both the outer and inner models. The analysis technique employed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) using the Smart Partial Least Square (Smart-PLS) 3.2.8 program. The results of this study indicate the formation of a model of entrepreneurial readiness, focusing on future orientation and self-efficacy. Future orientation has a significant favorable influence on the entrepreneurial readiness of micro-entrepreneurs and a very significant positive effect of self-efficacy on their entrepreneurial readiness. The theoretical model developed in this research is a fit model that can serve as a reliable model reference for understanding entrepreneurial readiness.
