Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of content, language, presentation, and graphography in Chapter 6 "One Point" in the Indonesian textbook for grade IV elementary school students, based on the criteria set by the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) and guided by the Improved Indonesian Spelling (EYD) Edition V. The approach used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach with a content analysis method. The data source comes from the chapter "One Point" in the Indonesian book published in 2021. The analysis focused on four aspects of textbook feasibility: content feasibility, language feasibility, presentation feasibility, and graphic feasibility, with reference to the BSNP assessment indicators and linguistic rules in EYD Edition V. The results of the research obtained showed that the book generally met the feasibility standards in terms of content suitability with learning objectives, material up-to-date, and linguistic accuracy. However, some errors were found in punctuation, word selection, and clarity of sentence structure that needed to be corrected. The graphic and presentation aspects are considered appropriate and attractive for elementary school students. This analysis emphasizes the importance of regular textbook evaluation to ensure that teaching materials remain accurate, effective, and relevant. Keywords: Textbook analysis, textbook feasibility, BSNP standards, Indonesian, EYD Edition V

Abstract

This research aims to describe how Generation Z represents the tradition of pitungan weton through their interactions in the comment sections of TikTok, as well as to analyze how technological mechanisms—such as algorithms, visual content, and viral logic—shape their cognition and attitudes toward the tradition. The research adopts a qualitative paradigm grounded in Stuart Hall’s theory of representation (encoding–decoding model), while Dery’s concept of technoculture is used to understand how cultural meanings are interpreted, negotiated, or rejected within digital spaces. The findings reveal three decoding patterns: (i) dominant position (full acceptance of cultural meaning), (ii) negotiated position (adjustment between cultural values and personal experience), and (iii) oppositional position (rejection of tradition). These representations are not merely individual expressions, but also reflect a broader collective discourse among Generation Z in responding to local culture through digital media.

Abstract

(This study discusses cohesion and coherence in online media opinion texts using a micro-linguistic approach and critical discourse analysis. Although there are quite a lot of studies on opinion texts, there is still a gap in combining micro-linguistic analysis with a critical discourse approach, especially in the context of online media which has its own language characteristics. The purpose of this study is to reveal how elements of cohesion and coherence are built in opinion texts and how the linguistic structure reflects the ideology and power hidden in the text. This study involved 8 opinion texts published in three national online media over the past six months. Data were analyzed using Halliday & Hasan's linguistic analysis instrument for the cohesion aspect and the Fairclough model for critical discourse analysis. The results of the study indicate that lexical and grammatical cohesion are used strategically to build arguments, but coherence of meaning is often formed through hidden ideological assumptions, such as political bias or certain agendas. This study indicates that understanding the micro-linguistic structure in opinion texts is very important for dismantling the practice of power in media discourse, as well as contributing to critical literacy of readers in the digital era.

Abstract

Bantengan Art is a traditional performance art originating from Malang, East Java. This art form combines dance, music, poetry, and attractions that depict the battle between good and evil through the symbol of the bull. In addition to serving as a ritual to ward off misfortune and purify the village, this art also functions as entertainment and as a means of preserving the local cultural traditions of Malang. This study aims to describe the existence and symbolic meaning of Bantengan Art in Malang. The research is qualitative in nature. The approach used to address the issues employs Parson’s theory of existence and Mead’s theory of symbolic interactionism. The data consist of informant statements and Bantengan performances. Data collection techniques include interviews and field observations during performances. The results show that Bantengan Art not only survives amid the current of modernization but also adapts through innovations in music, costumes, and performance media. Bantengan Art continues to hold strong social, spiritual, and cultural functions and serves as a collective space to strengthen values of solidarity, local identity, and the preservation of traditional cultural heritage in Malang. Symbolic elements such as the bull figure, trance performances, and traditional musical accompaniment are interpreted as representations of strength, courage, and spiritual communication between humans and their ancestors. Thus, Bantengan Art is not merely entertainment, but a cultural legacy rich in meaning, a representation of cultural identity, and a medium to strengthen social bonds within the Malang community. Keywords: Bantengan art, existence, symbolic meaning, tradition, local culture Malang

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the transformation of content and visuals in the New Student Admission (PMB) brochure of Universitas PGRI Wiranegara (UNIWARA) from 2020 to 2025 using a multimodal analysis approach. This approach is based on the theory of Kress and Van Leeuwen (2006), which divides multimodal elements into three metafunctions: representational, interactive, and compositional. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with documentary techniques and content analysis of five editions of the PMB brochure. The results show that there has been a significant change in message delivery strategies through the transformation of visual, verbal, and compositional elements. These transformations reflect the institution's response to the dynamics of higher education promotion and changing preferences of prospective students. The multimodal elements work together to create a more persuasive, informative, and inclusive institutional image.
