Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe petatah-petitih and moral value ​​contained in each petatah-petitih that exist in society in Nagari Koto Baru Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. The research data is moral value in petatah-petitihused by society in Nagari Koto Baru Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. The data source of this research is the source of oral, the verbal sources arepetatah-petitih spoken by people in communication. Data were collected using interviews, recording methods and methods of record. The study's findings include two things: (1) form petatah-petitih, petatah-petitih of is including oral folklore and has implied intent of petatah-petitih is presented, in order to not feel offended, (2) moral values ​​in petatah-petitih, custom  moral values ​​can be seen through the four factors commonly called in custom, that is pasing raso, pareso, malu, and sopan. Religious moral values ​​are moral values ​​in Islam.

Abstract

This article is written to find out the application of language in student’s   description text at class VII.6 SMPN 25 Padang. Data in this study was language application in student’s description text at class VII.6 SMPN 25 Padang. Data source was student’s description text and sample was taken by purposive sampling technique to determine data source. Study instrument was writer and assisted with tables inventory data. Study finding shows that: first, student’s description text at class VII.6 SMPN 25 Padang mostly using general and location pronominal, and one student using feature pronominal. Second, most student using prefix and suffix in their description text, no student using infix, and two students do not use affix/confix. Third, mostly students using all types of phrases; only few of them do not completely use their phrase. Eleven students do not use nominative phrase in description text; twelve students do not use verb phrase in description text; five students do not use numeric phrase in description text; five students do not use adverb phrase in description text; and writer finds out that all students using preposition in their description text. Kata kunci: penggunaan bahasa, teks deskripsi, karya siswa kelas VII.6

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article reveals the comparison of writing description text skills with fantasy stories of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang. The objectives of the study are four. First, it describes students' writing text description skills. Second, describe the writing skills of students' fantasy text. Third, analyze the comparison of writing description text skills with students' fantasy stories. Fourth, analyze the factors that cause differences in writing description text skills with fantasy stories. The design of this study is comparative. The study population was students of class VII SMP 7 Padang who registered in the 2019/2020 school year as many as 255 students. The research sample of 48 students, determined through simple random sampling technique (20% of the population). The research data were the score of writing skills as well as the results of interviews with students about the skills of writing description texts and fantasy stories. Data obtained through performance tests and interviews. There are four research results. First, the students' writing description text skills are more than adequate (LdC) qualifications with an average of 75.26. Second, the students' ability to write fantasy text is in good qualifications (B) with an average of 80.86. Third, there are differences in writing description text skills with students' fantasy stories. Fourth, there are four factors that cause differences in the two writing skills of the text, namely elements of facts and opinions, the use of a variety of standard and non-standard languages, talents/interests, and educators in the teaching and learning process.Kata kunci: Keterampilan, Teks Deskripsi, Teks Cerita Fantasi, Menulis, Komparasi

Abstract

The purpose of this studyis to describe the intelligent reader reception (in this study is senior student of Indonesian and Region Language and Literature Department, Padang State University) of the characterization in the script drama Kau Tunggu Siapa, Nilo work of Wisran Hadi. The data in this study is the answer (reception), the reader is contained in the statement list and the questionnaire. Sources of data in this study is that there is this statements and question in the statements list and the questionnaire submitted to the reader. The findings of the study, 20 data based on 20 statements in the statements list, and 10 data based on 10 questions in questionnaire. Once the data is obtained, the data were analyzed qualitatively using descriptive methods, and classified according to the theory used.

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe phatic category of Minangkabau language from its form and usage function in that kaba Si Gadih Ranti. This research uses qualitative research with descriptive method. Data of this research is collected with the collecting technique by reading and understanding the data. Analyzing data technique in this research is done by inventing the described data, classifying data and analyzing it based on the research aim and making the summary. Based on the analyzed data, it can be concluded the invention from the research. They are: first, from the phatic form in Kaba Si Gadih Ranti found that there are four forms: (1) phatic particle, lah, pun, koh: (2) phatic blending: iyolah, disiko, hanyo lai, iyo juo (3) phatic word :iyo, garan, nantun, bana, malah, iko, nangko: and (4) phatic phrase: birawari, adok kapado, lorong kapado. Second, from its function in Kaba Si Gadih Ranti found that there are five phatic function, (1) emphasize, (2) separate, (3) strengthen, (4) convince, and (5) start the new paragraph of the story.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe and analysis the structure and the function of rhyme Pasa Lamo Minangkabau community, Pulau Punjung, Dharmasraya. The data of this study is the rhyme Minangkabau in Pasa Lamo. Source of research data is the primary source of oral sources as spoken by the informant as the original speakers. Data was collected using the methods and techniques refer to the record and advanced engineering techniques as noted. The findings of the study include three things: (1) transcription in Pasa Lamo rhyme into Indonesian, (2) the structure of rhyme in Pasa Lamo, consisting of the physical structure and inner structure, and (3) the function of rhyme in Pasa Lamo.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were (1) describe the form of directive speech acts are used between children and parents at the hands of Ikur Koto Koto Padang District, (2) describes the strategy used in the recalled directive speech acts between children and parents in Ikur Koto Koto district hands of Padang, (3) describe the context of the situation tells that the use of strategies used in the directive speech acts between children and parents at the hands of Ikur Koto Koto Padang District. The data of this study is a form of directive speech act, speak strategies, and context of the situation said the children and parents at the hands of Ikur Koto Koto district. Source of research data is speech between children and parents who are natives of the area. Data was collected using the methods and techniques refer to the record and advanced engineering techniques as noted. The study's findings, namely directive speech acts between children and parents.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the relationship between the ability in comprehending the short story and the ability in writing the drama manuscript for the VIII grade’s student at , junior high school, nine, Sijunjung. The type of this research is quantitative research using descriptive and the statistic correlation methods. Population and sample in this research is the student of the VIII grade at junior high school ,nine, Sijunjung. The population in this research is 34 students who are registered in academic year of 2012/2013. This population involves two class which the population is sample because the population is less than 100 students.  The result of research shows that the ability of student in comprehending the short story highly assists them in writing the drama manuscript. Furthermore, using the statistic correlation method, it shows that relationship between the student ability in understanding the short story and the student ability in writing the drama manuscript is significant on the degree of freedom, n-2, and it is significant at 95 % of confident level since 6.41 of t-statistic value is greater than 1.70 of t-table value.

Abstract

The purposeof this studyweredescribe: (1) self-image and social image profeminis character women, (2) self-image and social image kontrafeminis character women. The data of this study were female character and image of women. Sources of data in this study is novel Paradise Lost MiraW works published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2010. Data collected with descriptive methods and techniques detailed description. The study's findings are image profeminis figures in the novel Paradise Lost, among others Wiwiek Sartono, Tina and Lina. The characters in the novel kontrafeminis Paradise Lost, among others Lestari Prihatini, Mother, Intan Inawati, Lila and Bi Umi. Images of women in this novel consists of : (1) women's self-image that reflects the character of adult women who choose and determine attitudes and feelings through reasonableness, (2) the social image of women that reflects the character is good or bad behavior of leaders in the community.

Abstract

This research have purpose to describe and analyze the value of character education that contained in Malaikat-malaikat penolong’s novel by Abdullah Khiaratullah, which consist of : (1) the value of honest, (2) tolerance, (3) hard work, (4) creative, (5) curiosity, (6) friendly/ communicative, (7) love peace, (8) social care,and (9) responsibility. The method that used for collecting the data are reading and understanding the novel carefully. After that, take note and mark the parts of story that indicates the value of character education. The method that used in analyzing the data are (1) inventory the value of education into the data research, (2) clasify according to the problems that researched, (3) analyze the data, (4) making the conclusion, and (5) make the report of findings.
