Abstract

This article examines the moral education values reflected in the life of Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), based on the historical study from the perspective of H. M. H. Al-Hamid Al-Husaini. Employing a qualitative approach and content analysis method on the works of Al-Hamid Al-Husaini, this research highlights the personality and role of Siti Fatimah as a daughter, wife, mother, and exemplar of noble character within the Islamic family context. The findings indicate that Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra represents an ideal Muslim woman, embodying piety, sincerity, humility, and total devotion to Allah SWT, the Prophet, and her family. These values serve as an essential foundation for moral education and the cultivation of noble character within families and society. This study also explores how Al-Hamid Al-Husaini constructs a historical narrative rich in praise for the Ahlul Bait, while emphasizing the significance of Siti Fatimah’s exemplary conduct in building an ethical Islamic civilization. Abstract

The moral crisis in modern education indicates that intellectual intelligence alone is insufficient to shape a complete human personality. In this context, spirituality becomes a fundamental aspect that must be emphasized to prevent education from losing its ethical foundation. This study aims to examine Imam Al-Ghazali’s concept of spirituality and its significance in the educational sphere. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research draws upon a literature review of Al-Ghazali’s works such as Ihya’ Ulum al-Din, Bidayat al-Hidayah, and Mizan al-‘Amal. The findings reveal that Al-Ghazali regards spirituality as the core of human character formation. For him, education should not only convey knowledge but also purify the soul (tazkiyatun nafs) and cultivate divine awareness (ma’rifatullah). Spirituality plays a crucial role in harmonizing the intellect, emotions, and heart. When the educational system neglects this dimension, knowledge becomes logical yet morally empty. Therefore, spirituality should be internalized through religious habituation, ethical guidance, and moral formation. This concept remains relevant to foster knowledgeable individuals with strong moral responsibility. Keywords: Spirituality, Education, Al-Ghazali, Ethics, Morality

Abstract

Traditional markets are vital elements of the local economy and culture. They serve not only as hubs for daily trade but also as spaces for social interaction, cultural preservation, and a source of livelihood for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). However, the existence of traditional markets is currently threatened by the dominance of modern markets and the rise of e-commerce. The shift in consumer behavior toward online shopping has led to a decline in foot traffic and threatens the sustainability of traditional markets. This study aims to analyze the existence of traders in the Gondanglegi Traditional Market in response to the rise of e-commerce. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with traders at the Gondanglegi Market serving as the primary informants. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: pre-fieldwork, during fieldwork, and post-fieldwork, involving a comprehensive data reduction process to ensure accurate results. The findings indicate that the Gondanglegi Traditional Market has experienced a significant impact from the presence of e-commerce, specifically a decline in market activity and trader income. While the most substantial decrease in turnover occurred in non-essential sectors such as clothing and accessories, staple goods were also affected, albeit to a lesser extent. Furthermore, a lack of digital literacy among traders—who are not yet able to utilize digital platforms—has caused them to lose customers and places them at risk of losing their pivotal role in the local economy. Key words: traditional market; e-commerce; technological literacy

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 has transformed the global landscape. In these times, leadership in Islamic education faces various complex challenges. This description demonstrates the ability of Islamic educational leadership to realize its lofty ideals as “leadership management” in Islamic education. The definition of leadership in education can be formulated as follows: “Educational leadership is a series of abilities of a person in the educational process that is effective and efficient in achieving goals.” Based on its implementation, official leadership is divided into: (1) Autocratic Leadership Type. (2) Pseudo-Democratic Leadership Type. (3) Laizzez Faire Leadership Type. (4) Democratic Leadership Type. As for the definition of leadership in Islam, in Arabic it is called "khalifah" (QS. 02:30). Viewed from the prophetic leadership of Rasulullah SAW, then leadership management can be said: “all leadership theories are in the Prophet Muhammad SAW.” In Islamic leadership, a concept is offered about the characteristics of a leader that are inherent in the person of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, namely: (1) Shiddiq. (2) Amanah. (3) Tabligh. (4) Fathanah. The description above can be concluded that the implementation of leadership in Islamic education requires: Knowledge and faith, open-minded, trustworthy and fair, directive, selective about information, consultative, polite, forgiving, trustworthy, exemplary and productive. Key words: Industry 4.0; leadership management; leadership in Islam; education; contemporary education.

Abstract

Amidst the wave of modernity characterized by the hegemony of materialism and technological disruption, modern humans face an acute existential crisis. The phenomena of alienation and spiritual emptiness have emerged as pervasive social pathologies. In Islam, Zuhud (asceticism/detachment) is proposed as a fundamental solution to overcome material dependency. However, the interpretation of Zuhud is frequently reduced to fatalism, structural poverty, and an anti-worldly stance, rendering it counterproductive to the spirit of contemporary progress. Conversely, the Nusantara archipelago possesses a repository of local wisdom known as Kawruh Jiwa or Kawruh Begja, initiated by Ki Ageng Suryomentaram, which offers a rationality of emotional processing. This study aims to conceptually reconstruct the meaning of Zuhud through the lens of Javanese indigenous psychology and to dissect the operational mechanism of "self-liberation" from Hubbud Dunya (love of the world) utilizing the analytical frameworks of Kramadangsa (ego-identity) and Mawas Diri (introspective self-awareness). This research employs a qualitative method with a library research design. Data analysis was conducted using a Gadamerian comparative-hermeneutic approach to establish a "fusion of horizons" between the classical Sufi texts of Al-Ghazali (11th Century) and the Javanese philosophical texts of Suryomentaram (20th Century), substantiated by contemporary research literature from 2021–2025. The findings indicate that Zuhud, as described in Minhajul ‘Abidin, shares an ontological correlation with the detachment of Sematan attributes in Kawruh Begja. The mechanism of Tazkiyatun Nafs (purification of the soul) demonstrates epistemological similarities with the Nyawang Karep (observing desires) technique, which functions as a form of Indigenous Mindfulness. Furthermore, the state of Nrimo (acceptance) is not characterized by passivity, but rather by emotional stability equivalent to Maqam Ridha. Kawruh Begja offers an operational articulation of Zuhud, rendering Islamic spirituality logically comprehensible as a form of ego management (Kramadangsa) aimed at achieving the "Liberated Human" (Manusia Tanpa Ciri). This synthesis is highly relevant as a foundation for mental health and a sustainable lifestyle in the modern era. Key words: Zuhud, Kawruh Jiwa, Kramadangsa, Mawas Diri, Islamic Psychology, Al-Ghazali, Ki Ageng Suryomentaram.
