Abstract

Background – Economic growth in Indonesia in 2022 reached 5.31%, which is the highest achievement from 2014. Although Indonesia was hit by the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the economy in Indonesia continues to show resilience and increasing rapidly. The ideal capital structure is a blend of debt and equity that maximizes firm value through prudent investment choices and enhances the financial and operational performance of the business. Aim – This research is to determine the impact of internal factors on capital structure. By investigating the moderating effect of business size on the link between profitability and liquidity on capital structure, this study adds to the body of previous work. Design / methodology / approach – This study employed a quantitative research design, which entails gathering quantifiable numerical data and applying statistical analysis to determine and elucidate the relationship between variables. The study employed secondary data, which was sourced from a company’s financial documents. Purposive sampling is used in the study to choose profitable companies. This approach is being employed since the data used in the study are secondary data, which offer more comprehensive and varied data information. Eviews was used to help with the data analysis strategy used in this investigation. Findings – The hypothesis for the first hypothesis is profitability accepted to have a positive and significant effect on capital structure. Second hypothesis is accepted, and fourth hypothesis is accepted. While the third hypothesis is rejected. Research implication – According to the research, a 1% improvement in profitability (ROA) can result in a 0.06% reduction in the company's debt, raising earnings and lowering the amount of debt in the capital structure. High liquidity companies typically use their internal profits instead of taking on debt or issuing additional shares. The study's findings imply that firm size may have an impact on the relationship between capital structure and liquidity because larger, more liquid corporations are thought to be more able to pay back their loans. Limitations – The study acknowledged numerous limitations, including the use of USD exchange rates, which rendered some data meaningless, and the elimination of enterprises with unfavorable financial reports. Just 46 of the 63 profitable mining businesses listed on the IDX were examined in this study. Consequently, the study suggests that more research be done over a longer time period on various organizations or sectors. It also recommends that future research include more independent factors or mediating variables.

Abstract

Background – The mutation rate in the Civil Servant environment is still quite high, making it quite difficult to implement talent management. In the 2021 Civil Servant Candidate recruitment, 105 people were recorded as having resigned after being declared to have passed, this resignation was due to a mismatch in salary and placement location. Aims – this study aims to test and determine the direct or indirect influence of organizational culture variables, compensation and career development on talent retention through employee engagement as an intervening variable. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study uses a quantitative research method. Data were collected from 139 respondents who were selected using the random sampling method. The data analysis technique in this study used path analysis using the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) model or Structural Equation Model with the WarpPLS 7.0 program. Results and Discussion – the results of this study indicate that the variables of organizational culture, compensation and career development partially have a positive and significant effect on talent retention, and also have a positive and significant effect on employee engagement. Based on path analysis, there is a direct and indirect influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable through the intervening variable. Conclusion - employee involvement in Jember district government activities will make employees more loyal and work optimally to achieve the goals of the district government. Improvement of organizational culture, and clarity of career development will increase talent retention, and supported by appropriate compensation. Research implications - based on the results of this study, the Jember district government must foster values and norms in the organization to form a good organizational culture, evaluate and improve the career development system so that employees are more loyal and work optimally. Research limitations - based on the results of the determination coefficient test, the contribution of the independent variables is only 61% and 68%, so it is necessary to add more independent variables so that the results are better. This study has not separated state civil servants from non-state civil servants.

Abstract

Background – Data from the Indonesian Medical Council , as of April 24, 2024 there were 279,321 doctors registered in Indonesia. Of these, 220,664 people or 79% are general practitioners and specialist doctors, dentists and specialist dentists combined, the number reached 59,422 people, equivalent to 21% of the total doctors registered nationally. The urgency of this research is that the problem of lack of interest in the faculty of dentistry in Indonesia is a serious concern for many parties. Along with the times, the faculty of dentistry with little interest can hinder the progress of the dental health field. The analysis of interest in entering the undergraduate dental program is important to understand the factors that influence students in choosing the dental program, such as interest, talent, career interest, expectations, environment, and educational facilities Aim – The aim of this research is to analyze (1) the influence of gender stereotypes and family support on the decision to choose the dentistry study program, (2) the role of career prospects in moderating the influence of gender stereotypes and family support on the decision to choose the dentistry study program, Design / methodology / approach – The sample for this research consists of 143 students from the Faculty of Dentistry, class of 2023, at three universities with a Faculty of Dentistry: Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Hang Tuah, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, who served as respondents. The sampling technique used is Probability Sampling, specifically Stratified Random Sampling. The data used is primary data collected through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. The analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method with Smart PLS version 4.0 softwaredescribe the methodology used in your research. Findings – The research results conclude that (1) gender stereotypes and family support can drive the decision to choose a dental medicine study program, (2) family support can drive the decision to choose a dental medicine study program, (3) career prospects strengthen the contribution of gender stereotypes to the decision to choose a dental medicine study program, but do not moderate the contribution of family support to the decision to choose a dental medicine study program Conclusion –. The profession of a dentist, which requires high precision to diagnose health problems, is often associated with certain gender expectations. The support that individuals receive can increase their confidence in making choices. There is a tendency to avoid jobs that are considered incompatible with existing gender norms, which then leads individuals to adjust their career choices. Parenting patterns that give freedom and trust to children, while still emphasizing responsibility for decisions made, are not directly influenced by career prospects. Research implication – The job of a dentist, which requires great precision to diagnose health problems, is often associated with gender-specific expectations. The support received by individuals can increase their confidence in making choices. There is a tendency to avoid occupations that are perceived to be incompatible with existing gender norms, leading individuals to adjust their career choices accordingly. Parenting that gives children freedom and trust, while emphasizing responsibility for decisions, is not directly influenced by career prospects. Limitations – These studies may have used relatively simple measures of gender stereotypes or based on generalized perceptions, which may not fully capture how more subtle or specific gender stereotypes affect individuals. For example, gender stereotypes are not just limited to whether a profession is suitable for men or women, but could involve expectations regarding the character traits or roles expected in that profession (e.g. whether women are perceived to be more empathetic in the health profession). Therefore, the use of more complex measurement tools for gender stereotypes could help provide a more accurate picture.
