Abstract

Online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic has reduced student engagement in learning. In fact, students will have good achievements and online learning will be effective when students engage in learning. The purpose of this study was to find out the factors that influence students engagement in online learning among junior high school students. The variables used in this study are self-regulated learning and parent involvement. The study used a quantitative approach involving 295 junior high school students who did online learning. Sampling was taken by convenience sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was the student engagement scale in online school, the scale from Toering et al (2012) and the Parental Involvement Mechanism Measurement. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, the first conclusion is that there is a significant relation between self-regulated learning & parent involvement and student engagement in online learning. Furthermore, the variables with significant coefficient values are planning, efforts and self-efficacy. Based on study results, teachers are suggested to provide explanation and insight for students so that students can have a plan in doing assignments. For students, it is advisable to put more efforts into understanding the lessons and discipline in doing assignments so that they are more attached to the school.

Abstract

Perfectionism is defined by the overdependence of self-evaluation on the determined pursuit of personally demanding, self-imposed standards in at least one highly salient domain, despite adverse consequences. Perfectionism can affect to certain psychopathologies such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorder. One of the kind interventions that can help this problem is Internet-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy or ICBT for perfectionism which practically using the moduls for CBT. The advantage of ICBT is its flexibility which participant doesn’t need to make an appointment with therapist. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of ICBT through the time (2011-2020), how the implementation did, and the factors that could affect the therapy. The inclusion criteria used were studies on participants with perfectionism; using ICBT interventions; is quantitative research; and research based on research articles or journals. Literature screening was carried out in 3 stages: screening based on title and topic, screening through inclusion criteria, and through assessment of quality. There are 10 journals that have passed this analysis and are used in data synthesis. Based on the analysis conducted, it was found that ICBT was effective in overcoming the problem of perfectionism and was able to significantly reduce perfectionism. This can be seen from the difference in results between the pre-test and post-test as well as these results managed to survive when followed-up. ICBT itself provides advantages in terms of time, effort, and cost efficiency in therapy as well as flexibility to be applied anywhere.

Abstract

The study aim to analyze the relationship between parental knowledge about autism and parental acceptance of children with ASD on the DLS in children with ASD. The statistical technique used was a correlation with 15 parents who have ASD children with an age range from 8 to 18 years, consisting of 10 boys and 5 girls. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a scale instrument and the data analysis technique used Spearman’s rho. Based on the result of this research, it was found that the significance value of the p value of parental acceptance in children with ASD Sig. (1-tailed) with a significant correlation coefficient p = .027 (< 0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between parental acceptance in children with ASD and DLS in children with ASD.

Abstract

Parental Mediation is a guidance for parents to mediate smartphone and tablet usage.  The Psychological measurement instruments are needed to know how parents have used strategies to mediate the use of smartphone and tablets to their children.  Therefore, this study aims to adapt the Parental Mediation instrument which was developed by Nikken & Schols (2015) to Indonesian version and explore the psychometrics properties.  The study involved 305 parents who have children aged 2-6 years old.  The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling.  The adapting process was guided by International Test Commission (2016).  The result showed that the adapted Parental Mediation instrument was reliable (α = 0.87)  and valid (GFI= 0.976; RMSEA= 0.034; CFI= 0.986; NFI= 0.948; TLI= 0.983; PNFI= 0.788). The result also showed that Indonesian parents use four strategies in mediating the use of smartphone and tablet to their children, there are: Co-use, Supervision, Active-Restrictive Mediation and Technical Mediation.

Abstract

Preschool teachers are one of the high-risk professions to experience burnout because of job demands. The teachers’ job demands increased during COVID-19, resulting in an increased risk of preschool teachers’ burnout. This study aimed to examine social support from colleague as predictor for preschool teachers’ burnout during pandemic COVID-19. The method used is quantitative and 121 preschools’ teacher from 7 provinces in Indonesia were recruited based on snowball sampling. There are two instruments in this research, the social support from colleague questionnaire and burnout questionnaire. All of the instruments are valid with the score 0.555 - 0.862 for social support from colleague questionnaire and 0.429 – 0.804 for burnout questionnaire. Reliability test with Alpha Cronbach indicate that all the instruments are reliable and the score are 0.964 and 0.973.  The study result indicates that the contribution of social support in influencing burnout is 32,4%. This result is in line with previous study, however the influence of social support decreases from 58% to 32,4% because of pandemic COVID-19. During pandemic, the teachers work from of home most of the time and face-to-face interaction reduce to prevent spread of the virus. So, there is difficult to get social support from colleague. In the future, follow-up studies can gather more participants from all provinces in Indonesia and involve other factors which can affect the preschool teachers’ burnout.

Abstract

Family sexual violence is a crucial topic to talk about since it causes victims to suffer traumatic experience and has lasting ramifications that affect their life, one of which is that it may result in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Family sexual assault cases are rarely reported by the victim or his family, making it unlikely that the victim would obtain the proper medical and legal care. This study, which is a single case study, examines the psychological dynamics of women who suffer from posttraumatic stress disorder as a result of familial sexual violence. The findings showed that victims of sexual violence experienced emotional hurdles and little social assistance from their families and places of employment. This makes the participants' situation worse, especially when it comes to forming social connections. These results suggest that in order for survivors of sexual assault to feel safer and more in control, there is a need for increased social rehabilitation and counseling.

Abstract

This study is intended to conduct a scoping review of the application of social network analysis (SNA) in predicting political participation in Indonesia, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The literature shows that investigations into political participation are not new in Indonesia. However, research that uses the application of SNA as an approach to explain the behavior of political participation in Indonesia is still very rare. For this reason, a scoping review is needed to provide an overview of political participation using a social network lens. The scoping review implementation was guided by Arksey and O'Malley's 5-step framework. The results of the scoping review show that the political participation among Indonesians is considered at a sufficient level, especially at the regional level. However, investigations of political participation using the SNA method are shown to be very rare. This research is useful for showing topics that can be explored in the social and political fields, especially by using the individual social network approach.

Abstract

The number of drug users in Indonesia increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, people seeking rehabilitation for quitting drugs are also growing these past two years according to Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) report in 2020 and 2021. Help-seeking behavior is important for individuals with physical and mental health disorders to get treatment. Research shows that help-seeking behavior on the problem of substance abuse has many barriers and driving factors. The study aims to look at the dynamics of help-seeking behavior in former multi-substance drug addicts who have managed to quit completely since 2013. The research is single case study, focusing on the participant's experience of realizing the addiction problem and seeking treatment. Data obtained through interview via google meet. The participant is male 48 years old former addict to various drugs since 1997, quit entirely in 2013, undergo therapeutic community selected by purposive sampling. The researcher also collecting data from expert in the last rehabilitation facility for triangulation. Thematic analysis results are the participant’s background and drug use, treatment history, help-seeking behavior, and problem resolution. The participant achieved full recovery due to adequate social support from family and rehabilitation facility, firmly committed to change, and avoiding negative environment.

Abstract

This study aims to explain maternal self-regulation using Zimmerman's theory which consists of three aspects, namely metacognition, motivation, and behavior. This study uses mothers who have children of elementary school age and at Al-Hijriyah Elementary School as subjects in this study. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Using interviews, observations, and documentation as research data collection methods. The subjects in this study consisted of 3 subjects and 1 informant for each subject. The results of this study indicate that, self-regulation of mothers who have children at Al-Hijriyah Elementary School in a mixed manner, namely the presence and monitoring of children, self-control and actions in control as a mother, as well as the mother's ability to adjust and adapt to the safe situation of children learning in a blended way. Based on the research found to determine that the mother is able to self-regulate and it was found that the factors that influence the mother's regulation are internal factors (self).

Abstract

This study aims to discover in depth the description of loneliness in the elderly of Balinese ethnicity who experiences grief for life partners and how the feelings of loneliness are felt by individuals when experiencing grief events in their lives. The study uses a qualitative method. The approach used in this study is phenomenology with the elderly subject of Balinese ethnicity, who experienced grief events due to being left by their life partner, located in Bali. The data collection method used is by interviewing the subject and informant. The forms of data analysis used are data reduction, data interpretation, data categorization, and data grouping according to themes, and making narratives from the results obtained. The results obtained from this study are the feeling of the loneliness felt by the elderly due to different grief events. This result can influence by internal (individual) factors such as emotions, the individual's personal and external (social) aspects, such as family, friends, neighbors, and the shape of the house, both of which have a very important role in shaping the feeling of loneliness in the elderly who experience grief. It can conclude that the feeling of loneliness that can be felt by the elderly depends on how the elderly respond to the grief event.
