Abstract

One of the most popular item selection methods in the design of adaptive testing is Maximum Information Method. This method provides the items with the maximum information at a certain level of selecting ability. The lack of this method is rarely accurate in estimating the level of ability of the examinees at the beginning of the test and tends to select items with higher discrimination-parameter value than items with lower discrimination-parameter. It creates problem in maintaining item bank. Therefore, another method should be found. The objective of the study is to determine the performance of the application of the estimation method Balanced Efficiency Information (EBI) on the design of an adaptive test. This research was carried out through a simulation study in the setting of organizing the Open University final exams. Item bank for the purposes of simulation models based on 3 parameters Item Response Theory was contructed a total of 900 items were generated base on the ideal parameter of the item specifications. Two selection criteria items were simulated, namely Information Maximum and EBI Maximum. Those two criteria were also designed to meet the content balancing. This is to ensure that the algorithm is appropriate with the applicable UT modular learning, meaning items of each module were proportionally represented and suited the blueprint. The tests will be stopped at when the standard error of estimate ( standard error of estimation = SEE ) is 0.3.The study summarized that the algorithm of EBI was more accurate than the Maximum Information criteria in estimating performance capabilities of participants. This is indicated by the value of the bias and the standard deviation of EBI is smaller than Maximum Information criterias. Another advantage of the application of the EBI Maximum is optimally utilizing of the item bank. The items with low level of the discrimination-parameter will also be chosen at the begining of the test. The maximum information criterion is more efficient in terms of test length but less optimally of the item bank utilization. Salah satu metode pemilihan butir soal yang popular digunakan dalam rancangan tes adaptif adalah metode Informasi Maksimum. Melalui metode ini, butir soal yang memiliki informasi maksimum pada tingkat kemampuan tertentu akan dipilih dan diberikan kepada peserta tes. Namun kelemahan dari metode ini adalah kurang akurat dalam mengestimasi tingkat kemampuan peserta pada awal tes dan memiliki kecenderungan untuk memilih butir dengan nilai daya pembeda parameter butir yang tinggi dibandingkan butir dengan nilai parameter daya pembeda yang rendah, sehingga menimbulkan masalah pemeliharaan butir soal dalam bank soal. Karena itu dicari cara lain untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa hasil estimasi dari penerapan metode Efficiency Balanced Information (EBI) pada rancangan tes adaptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui studi simulasi dalam setting penyelenggaraan ujian akhir semester Universitas Terbuka. Bank soal untuk keperluan simulasi dibangkitkan berdasarkan model Item Response Theory 3 parameter. Sebanyak 900 butir soal dalam bank soal bangkitan dengan spesifikasi parameter butir yang ideal. Dua kriteria pemilihan butir soal yang disimulasikan yaitu Informasi Maksimum dan EBI Maksimum yang juga dirancang agar memenuhi keseimbangan isi. Hal ini agar menjamin bahwa algoritma yang dihasilkan sesuai dengan pembelajaran moduler yang diterapkan UT, artinya butir soal setiap modul secara proporsional terwakili dan sesuai kisi-kisi. Aturan pemberhentian tes menggunakan kesalahan baku estimasi (standard error of estimation=SEE) sebesar 0,3. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa algoritma rancangan tes adaptif dengan kriteria EBI menghasilkan performa hasil estimasi kemampuan peserta yang lebih akurat dibandingkan kriteria Informasi Maksimum. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh nilai bias dan simpangan baku pengukuran yang lebih kecil dibandingkan kriteria Informasi Maksimum. Kelebihan lain dari penerapan kriteria EBI Maksimum adalah kebermanfaatan bank soal lebih optimal karena butir-butir soal dengan tingkat daya beda rendah juga dimunculkan khususnya pada awal tes. Sedangkan kriteria Informasi Maksimum walaupun lebih efisien dari sisi panjang tes tetapi kurang optimal dalam memanfaatkan bank soal.

Abstract

Digital learning is a current mode of education today, triggered by the rapid development of information and communication technology in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0. This mode of learning has the capacity to develop the potential and abilities of students,  not only in knowledge but also in life skills, especially in terms of innovative creativity which is an important capital in the era of  21st Century. This article discusses the concept of digital learning,  readiness for usage, and its role in developing students' innovative creativity. Pembelajaran digital merupakan modus pendidikan masa kini yang dipengaruhi oleh perkembangan pesat teknologi komunikasi dan informasi pada era Industrial Revolution 4.0. Modus ini mempunyai potensi untuk mengembangkan potensi dan kemampuan anak didik bukan saja dalam hal pengetahuan tetapi juga dalam life skills, khususnya dalam hal kreativitas inovatif yang menjadi modal penting dalam kehidupan era Abad 21. Artikel ini membahas tentang pengertian pembelajaran digital serta kesiapan untuk menggunakan, dan perannya dalam pengembangan kreativitas inovatif mahasiswa.

Abstract

Indonesia is a plural nation which consists of different ethnics, races, languages, customs, religions, and cultures. Indonesian society is also recognized as multicultural society with diversed background of cultures and religions. Conceptually, multiculturalism refers to country profile as a plural nation and multicultural society. Citizens would appreciate plurality and multiculturalism based on the equity principle.Multiculturalism as a concept of diversity and equity should be accomodated in the national education system. It should be reflected in the curriculum. Besides, the school has opportunity to develop its school curriculum (KTSP) integrating multicultural elements.Citizenship Education subject has the functions to integrate and develop multiculturalism issues in selected topics such as unity, equity, human rights, democracy, justice, and law. Other subjects integrate the issues into the teaching and learning process focusing issues of gender, ethnicity, and religion. Multicultural education is intended for develoving national character which promote students interactivity of different social cultural background. It develops in students emphaty through the observation of their attitude, perceptions, and views. In addition, it also develops student appreciation of multicultural differences, values, dan needs.

Abstract

Students have ability to analyze data if they practiced to solved problems/projects that are related to analyzed and made conclusion from research data. The aim of this research was to develop the students worksheets of data analysis based on the problems and projects that can help students to have ability analysis research data. The development of the students worksheets used Plomps stages. Results of students workshets implementation showed that those can help: students to have meaningful understanding, like the analysis data lecture, have motivated individually to learned concepts of data analysis and solved the problems and projects in students worksheets, actived in learning process, and had ability to analyzed data by Minitab and Microsoft Excel. Mahasiswa dapat memiliki kemampuan menganalisis data jika mahasiswa berlatih menyelesaikan masalah dan proyek yang berkaitan dengan cara menganalisis dan menarik kesimpulan dari data penelitian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa. Analisis Data berbasis masalah dan proyek yang dapat membantu mahasiswa memiliki kemampuan dalam menganalisis data penelitian. Pengembangan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa ini menggunakan tahap-tahap Plomp. Subjek penelitiannya adalah 24 mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Palangka Raya. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa dapat mendorong mahasiswa untuk: memiliki pengetahuan bermakna, (b) menyenangi matakuliah Analisis Data dan metode belajar yang digunakannya, termotivasi untuk belajar dan menyelesaikan masalah dan proyek dalam Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa secara mandiri, aktif selama perkuliahan, dan memiliki kemampuan dalam menganalisis data menggunakan Minitab dan Microsoft Excel.

Abstract

Open and Distance Learning (ODL) nowadays becomes a trend in higher education. Course delivery and course materials distribution have already been in electronic form by using information and communication technology (ICT). This technology becomes cheaper and much easier to be used. Indonesia as a nation where its people spread in thousands of islands does not always have face-to-face university in each city. Meanwhile, the need of skilled worker is always increased. ODL then becomes an alternative to educate people by using different way of teaching and learning process. People who have difficulties in accessing face-to-face university can use ODL as an alternative to upgrade their education. The role of ICT in ODL become important since the students can learn by using ICT. The students can also “meet” their colleagues virtually. Meanwhile, it was explored that ICT can be utilized for online examination. Online examination is more efficient, much faster in processing the examination result, and much cheaper in budget. This article discusses many aspects of strength and weakneses which is faced by educational institutions in administering online examinations.

Abstract

Virtual Reading Room (RBV) and Digital Learning Materials (BA Digital) are forms of learning service provided by Universitas Terbuka (UT). RBV and BA digital are digitizations of the Main Material Book (BMP) developed to help students read modules through the internet network. The existence of RBV and BA digital is expected to assist the students learning process, independently, even for students living in  remote area. This study describes the benefits, as well as the limitations of RBV and BA digital according to students perspective from 17 regional office (UPBJJ-UT) in Indonesia and overseas. This study is written using quantitative descriptive approach. The findings shows that  99% of respondents are aware of the existence of RBV and BA digital. Half of the respondents are aware of these two digital teaching materials from UT's website. The 53% respondents studied RBV and BA digital for less than 30 minutes, and more than sixty percent of the respondents accessed and used it during the tutorials. Ruang Baca Virtual (RBV) dan BA digital merupakan salah satu bentuk layanan belajar yang disediakan oleh Universitas Terbuka (UT). RBV dan BA digital merupakan digitalisasi dari Buku Materi Pokok (BMP) yang dikembangkan untuk membantu mahasiswa membaca modul melalui jaringan internet. Dengan adanya RBV dan BA digital diharapkan dapat membantu proses pembelajaran secara mandiri dan jarak jauh bagi mahasiswa UT. Artikel ini akan memaparkan tentang manfaat RBV dan BA digital dalam perspektif mahasiswa pada 17 UPBJJ-UT (Indonesia dan Luar Negri), sehingga dapat diketahui kelebihan dan kelemahannya. Artikel ini ditulis berdasarkan hasil penelitian dengan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Berdasarkan data yang yang diperoleh diketahui bahwa 99% responden telah mengetahui adanya RBV dan BA digital. Setengah dari jumlah responden mengetahui kedua bahan ajar digital tersebut dari laman website UT. Sebanyak 53% responden mempelajari RBV dan BA digital selama kurang dari 30 menit, dan lebih dari 60 persen responden mengaksesnya saat tutorial.

Abstract

This R & D-based study aims to (i) create a model of professional development of English Language Teacher (PDELT model), and (ii) identify the effectiveness of the model. The development procedure is based on the theory of Borg and Gall (1983), comprises 4 steps, namely (i) preliminary study, (ii) development of prototype, (iii) field test, and (iv) dissemination of results. Subjects were teachers of English Language as PDLET program participants, students involved, and 4 high school principals located in the district of Sragen, Central Java as represented public high school (SMAN) and Private High School. Results showed that the PDLET program should not rely on teacher training activities only, but should considered the non-training aspects, such as climate and working conditions in the school, group dynamics, and teacher's perception toward the program PDLET. Those aspects can create a conducive atmosphere that acts as a catalyst to improve the effectiveness of implementation model MGMP. The combination of training and educational activities simultaneously affect the change of teacher professionalism. Penelitian R & D-base ini bertujuan untuk (i) menciptakan model pengembangan profesional guru Bahasa Inggris (PDELT model), dan (ii) mengidentifikasi efektivitas model. Prosedur pengembangan didasarkan pada teori Borg dan Gall (1983), terdiri dari 4 langkah, yaitu (i) studi pendahuluan, (ii) pengembangan prototipe, (iii) uji lapangan, dan (iv) diseminasi hasil. Subyek penelitian adalah guru Bahasa Inggris sebagai peserta program PDLET, siswa yang terlibat, dan 4 kepala sekolah tinggi yang terletak di distrik Sragen, Jawa Tengah yang diwakili sekolah menengah umum (SMAN) dan Sekolah Tinggi Swasta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program PDLET tidak harus bergantung pada kegiatan pelatihan guru saja, tetapi harus dianggap sebagai non-pelatihan aspek, seperti iklim dan kondisi kerja di sekolah, dinamika kelompok, dan persepsi guru terhadap PDLET program. Aspek-aspek dapat menciptakan suasana kondusif yang bertindak sebagai katalis untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pelaksanaan model MGMP. Kombinasi pelatihan dan kegiatan pendidikan secara simultan mempengaruhi perubahan profesionalisme guru.

Abstract

Universitas Terbuka (UT) applied online examination system (sistem ujian online SUO) for end of semester examination (ujian akhir semester-UAS), beside the paper and pencil test (P & P test). In order to improve efficiency, adaptive test application should be analyzed, as an alternative to present UAS system. The aim of the research was to compare the efficiency and accuracy level of the computerized adaptive testing (CAT) design and conventional test using both P & P test and SUO. The research was conducted by simulation procedure. The item bank for the simulation used calibrated 404 test items using item response theory model. In the research, CAT and P & P test algorithm was developed. To measure efficiency, the required number of the CAT design was analyzed, while to measure accuracy of the estimation, the bias and standard error of measurement of both design were compared. The simulation result showed that (1) CAT design was more efficient, since it required only half of the number of item which was used in P & P test, to estimate the ability of examinee, (2) CAT design was more accurate in estimating ability of examinee, compared to P & P test design, since it resulted lower bias and standard error of measurement compared to conventional test design. Therefore, CAT design could be applied in UTs UAS system, while considering the balance of content for each modules.

Abstract

This experimental research aim is to investigate the effect of technology media and self regulated learning toward students achievement. The sample in this study were 48 students of class XI majoring in natural sciences. The research hypotheses were tested using two way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result of this study concluded that: (1) the students who learned using animation media has better result than students who learned using simulation media, (2) there is an interaction between technology media and self regulated learning which effects the students biology achievement, (3) students with high self regulated learning, using animation media has a better achievement than students using simulation media, and (4) students with low self regulated learning, who learn with animation media more score lower than students who learn using simulation media. The result two way variant analysis (two way of ANAVA), Fh =4,32 > Ft(0,05)(1;44) = 4,06, which means the achievement of different groups differ significantly. The result of this research can be used as consideration for  teachersin  using technology-based media in the light of students’ self regulated learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media teknologi, dalam pnelitian ini media animasi dan media simulasi, dan kemandirian belajar terhadap hasil belajar biologi. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 48siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 25 Kab. Tangerang. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode quasi eksperimen, sedangkan desain yang digunakan adalah treatment by level 2 x 2. Hipotesis penelitian diuji dengan menggunakan analisis varians (ANAVA) 2 jalan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa: (1) hasil belajar kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media animasi lebih tinggi daripada kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media simulasi, (2) terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara media teknologi dengan kemandirian belajar, (3) pada kelompok siswa dengan kemandirian belajar tinggi hasil belajar pada kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media animasi lebih tinggi daripada kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media simulasi, dan (4) pada kelompok siswa dengan kemandirian belajar rendah, hasil belajar pada kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media animasi lebih rendah daripada kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media simulasi. Hasil analisis varians dua jalur (ANAVA dua jalur) diperoleh F hitung = 4,32 > dari F tabel(0,05)(1;44) = 4,06 sehingga H0 ditolak, bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar biologi siswa yang signifikan antara kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media animasi (A1) dan kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan media simulasi (A2). Penelitian ini dapat menjadi masukan bagi guru dalam penggunaan media berbasis teknologi, dikaitkan dengan kemandirian belajar siswa, sehingga dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi siswa.
