Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of  integrated STEM approach on student’s critical thinking skills in Physics and Science learning. This type of research is a meta-analysis. Meta analysis is a research conducted by summarizing, reviewing and analyzing data from several studies that have been conducted. The research sample consisted of 25 articles that already have an ISSN consisting of 13 international articles and 12 national articles. The data analysis technique used in this study was to calculate the effect size of each article. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the effect of the application of the integrated STEM approach on students' critical thinking skills can be concluded. First, the application of the integrated STEM approach based model has a siginificant effect on the Problem Based Learning model with an average effect 0,92. Second, the application application of  integrated STEM  has a significant effect on the high school level compared to the junior high school level and elementary school level with an average effect of 1,08. Third, the application application of  integrated STEM  has a significant effect on the work and force with an average effect 2,23

Abstract

Physics learning in the 2013 curriculum aims to master the principles and concepts and be able to develop science and technology. However, the results of preliminary research, namely interviews with three teachers from three different schools, found that teachers still predominantly use the lecture method and have not used technology such as virtual laboratory experiments in learning. Several studies from journal articles show that students' conceptual understanding of optical material is still low. This study aims to design and determine the validity of cognitive conflict-based teaching materials integrating virtual laboratories in optical material. This research is a development research using the Plomp model. This research is limited to two stages of Plomp development, namely the preliminary research and the development / prototyping phase. The instruments used were interview guides, self-evaluation sheets and validation sheets. Based on the problems in the preliminary research, the design of teaching materials is based on four syntax of cognitive conflict-based learning models, namely activation of preconceptions and misconceptions, presentation of cognitive conflict, discovery of concepts and equations and reflection. The results of the self-evaluation show that the prototype design is complete and the results of the validity test on the aspects of content validity, construct validity, language validity and face validity show that the teaching materials are in the very valid category.

Abstract

Physics is a part of science that relating to natural phenomena. Physics learning must be integrated with natural phenomena material, one of which is lightning. Lightning material is integrated in physics learning using teaching material, namely e-module based on experiential learning models. E-module which is feasible to be used in learning is a valid e-module.A research aim to obtain validity of physics e-module integrated by lightning disaster material based on experiential learning. The method of this research was descriptive study. The validity of e-module can be measured using instrument in the form of a validation questionnarie. Validation component consists of the feasibility of contents, presentation feasibility, linguistic eligibility, and graphic feasibility. Validity of e-module was assessed by experts and practitioners. Based on the results of validation of experts and practitioners, physics e-module integrated by lightning disaster material based on experiential learning has been proven valid and worthy of being tested in learning.

Abstract

Education is essentially an activity carried out by students which results in changes in themselves. This principle implies that what must be prioritized is the learning activities of students instead of something that is given to students. STEM-based learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) can train students to apply their knowledge to create designs as a form of solving environmental problems by utilizing technology. The learning model recommended for use in the 2013 curriculum is a student-centered learning model, one of which is the Project Based Learning model. This study will analyze how much influence STEM education with the PjBL model has on student learning outcomes. This study uses a meta-analysis method. determined via the Effect Size (ES). Research data were obtained from 25 national and international journals. The meta-analysis study is based on three categories, namely education level, subjects and student learning outcomes. The results showed that; first, the influence of the PjBL model of STEM education based on the level of education is most effective in SMP. ES value = 1.89 and categorized as high. Second, based on the type of subject, the most effective influence of the PjBL model of STEM education is Mathematics. ES value = 3,7 and categorized as high. Third, based on student learning outcomes, the influence of the PjBL model of STEM education is the most effective in the aspect of skills. ES value = 1.68 and categorized as high.

Abstract

In 21st century education demands the creation of quality human resources. The government's efforts in dealing with 21st century results are using the implementation of the 2013 curriculum. One of the goals of the 2013 curriculum is to improve student learning. Increasing learning outcomes can be done using learning resources in the form of modules. Currently there are many studies on the   effect of integrated science modules on student learning outcomes. Several studies have different    results, so the research results need to be presented with a meta-analysis method. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the size of the effect of the integrated science module on learning outcomes. The analysis technique used is quantitative and qualitative analysis. This research uses 25 journals consisting of international and national journals. From the journal, several indicators were obtained, namely grade level, material, learning, integrated models, and applied learning. Based on the results of research resulting from the effect of the use of an integrated science module which is effectively used in learning which can be seen from student learning outcomes in integrated science learning.

Abstract

The curriculum is very important factor in the world of education. In order for the success of the 2013 curriculum in the learning process to run well, it is necessary to implement the use of the 2013 curriculum. In this case, student worksheets are selected as sources and teaching materials that will be used in the learning process. Based on the preliminary analysis, most of the outstanding student worksheets contain a summary of the material that is not attractive and also has not used the right model and has not been integrated in 21st century learning. In addition, integrated science using student worksheets in the 2013 curriculum is also packaged in an integrated manner on character building through character education. For this reason, the purpose of this research is to see the effectiveness of student worksheets in integrated science learning using integrated PBL in 21st century learning which is reviewed in the attitude competency aspects of students. The research was conducted in class VII.4 Junior High School of 4 Pasaman. The data used in this study were primary data, namely data obtained through a questionnaire, while the character assessment instrument consisted of self-assessment sheets which were carried out using assessment sheets. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the integrated student worksheets with the theme of energy in daily life using integrated PBL 21st century learning has been effectively used by students in the learning process to achieve the attitudinal competence.

Abstract

The aims of this study was analyze the effect of integrated science teaching materials with literacy to increase students' knowledge. This research method is a meta-analysis with a sample of 25 national and international educational journals. This article will reveal why it is important to develop teaching materials with literacy in view of educational studies. Things that need to be considered are the abstract, content, and conclusions of each journal. A meta-analysis study examines the effect of integrated science teaching materials with literacy based on education level, teaching material, and literacy content, research findings show that integrated science teaching materials filled with literacy is effective in improving student learning outcomes. Based on the type of integrated science teaching materials, worksheets with literacy have a high effectiveness value in improving student learning outcomes. The effect of integrated science teaching materials with literacy is effectively used to improve student learning outcomes when viewed from the literacy aspect. The effect of integrated science teaching materials with literacy content to improve students' understanding of using network structures and functions more effectively. Based on the level of education, the effect of integrated science teaching materials with literacy is more effectively used in class VIII to improve students' understanding.

Abstract

One of the goals of education related to character is that education must be able to instill character, that the function of education in Indonesia is to create human characters. Character education in students can be done through education, one of which is through teaching materials. Teaching materials that contain character values can make students master the targeted basic competencies. The type of research used in this study is a meta-analysis by testing 20 articles. This study analyzes and calculates the magnitude of the effect of teaching materials based on character values. Based on the results of the article analysis, it can be concluded that First, teaching materials with character have an effect on learning outcomes, especially the knowledge aspect with an effect size of 1.17. Both teaching materials with character are more effectively applied at the junior high school level with an effect size of 1.41 in the high category. Third, teaching materials with characters have a meaningful effect on the type of teaching material, namely student worksheets with an effect size of 1.55 high categories. Fourth, teaching materials with effective characters are used at the high school level, namely, dynamic electricity with an effect size of 1.78, while at the junior high school level with material / themes of straight motion; energy and effort; simple plane; style; Newton's Laws; pressure; atoms, ions and molecules with an effect size of 3.03 categories high.

Abstract

The implementation of physics learning is still not optimal so that it affects the achievement of students' competencies. One of the reasons is the use of teaching materials that have not met the demands of the 2013 Curriculum. The teaching materials used still do not contain learning models and approaches, besides that, students' critical thinking skills are still categorized as low. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of using physics teaching materials based on a problem-based learning model using the CTL approach to improve students' critical thinking. This type of research was conducted by pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were taken using the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of a written test for knowledge competencies and a performance appraisal for skills competencies. The data analysis used includes descriptive statistical analysis, normality test analysis, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing for the similarity of the two means. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be stated that the use of physics teaching materials based on the problem-based learning model using the CTL approach has a significant effect on the competence of knowledge and skills, as well as the critical thinking ability of students.

Abstract

Learning based on the 2013 curriculum is oriented towards students to be active and able to find their own material so that students are trained in developing the knowledge they have and are able to improve students' creative thinking skills. The fact found that the learning carried out was not optimal. One of the contributing factors is that the teaching materials applied in the learning process are not in accordance with the needs and characteristics of students. The purpose of this study was to produce physics teaching materials based on the inquiry based learning model with the CTL approach to improve students' creative thinking with effective criteria. This type of research is research and development. Research and development is a research method used to produce certain products and test the effectiveness of these products. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design. The object of the study was inquiry based learning materials with the CTL approach to improve students' creative thinking. The instrument used was the effectiveness test sheet. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded that physics teaching materials based on the inquiry-based learning model with the CTL approach to improve creative thinking were developed effectively in physics learning. This can be seen from the aspects of knowledge and skills that have increased after using physics teaching materials.
