Abstract

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammation that can affect the distal part of the colon, submucosa and rectal mucosa, and can affect the entire colon even to the terminal ileum. There are several factors that can cause this disease, such as genetics, environment, intestinal microbiota and the presence of enteric infectious agents. Chemical induction in experimental animals for research on gastrointestinal inflammation has been frequently used due to the similarity of the anatomical and physiological structures of experimental animals with the human digestive tract. This review focuses on recent understanding of the chemicals that used as induction agents in animals

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is an increase in blood uric acid levels. In the elderly cell damage occurs due to the aging process which can result in organ weakness, physical damage and various diseases such as increased uric acid levels. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between purine intake and the incidence of hyperuricemia in the elderly at the HISOSU Binjai nursing home. This research was conducted with an observational analytic research design using a cross sectional study. Samples were selected using the total sampling method and adjusted for inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data taken by weighing and recording food (in 1 day) Then assess respondent uric acid levels. This is done 3 times in the HISOSU Binjai nursing home. There are 32 research samples. Samples that experienced hyperuricemia as much as 40.6%, most of them consuming moderate-category purine source protein. The results of the chi-square test Pearson chi-squared t-test was 16.453 and p value < 0.001 (<0.05), it can be concluded as consumption of purine source protein associated with the incidence of hyperuricemia. The higher the purine intake, the greater the chance of getting hyperuricemia.

Abstract

Abstract. Burn injuries is a damaged or loss of skin caused by a contact with either high temperature sources or very low temperature sources. Burn injuries is classified according to its etiology, depth and extend of the wound. The extend of the burn can be determined by calculating TBSA (Total Body Surface Area). Wider TBSA will cause lower serum albumin levels due to a higher percentage increase. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between the extend of burn injuries with albumin levels on burn injury patients at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan in 2017-2018. This research uses observational research with cross-sectional research design, using secondary data obtained from medical records at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan in 2017-2018. The research sample was selected by using the total sampling method from all medical record data that met the research criteria. In this study, significant results were obtained with a value of p = 0.006 (p < 0.05) between the extend of burn injuries and albumin levels in burn injury patients at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan in 2017-2018. Abstract

Infants have skin that is easy to get irritated and infected by microorganisms. The use of diapers in infants often causes diaper dermatitis and disturbs the comfort. The diaper dermatitis incidence is quite high in infants aged 0-24 months. This study purposes to determine the factors that influence the infant diaper dermatitis and assess the relationship between these factors and the diaper dermatitis. The study design is an analytical observational with a cross sectional study design. Data retrieval using interview method on respondents use a structured questionnaire to obtain risk factors which are associated with the diaper dermatitis incidence. Bivariate analysis was used to examine the relationship between the diaper dermatitis incidence and contributing factors. The study result is 27 infants (36%) of 75 infants had diaper dermatitis. It was obtained p value ≤ 0.05 for solid food (fishes, p = 0,018) and diarrhea (p = 0,021). The value of p > 0.05 for the variables of age, sex, maternal education level, neighborhood, solid foods (cereals, eggs and fruits), frequency of diaper changes, frequency of bathing, and the use of protective skin cream. The conclusion is there is a correlation between diaper dermatitis and the solid food (fishes) and diarrhea.

Abstract

Background. Congenital abnormalities or congenital abnormalities are abnormalities that have existed since birth that can be caused by genetic and non genetic factors. The study of congenital abnormalities is called dysmorphology. Congenital abnormalities are one of the biggest contributors to death and morbidity in neonates, infants, and children. There were 7.9 million cases of congenital abnormalities and 3.3 million premature deaths due to congenital abnormalities in the world in 2013. In Southeast Asia it is estimated that cases of congenital abnormalities numbered 1,946,606 cases each year in 2013 according to WHO. In 2018, more than 8 million babies worldwide are born every year with congenital abnormalities. In the United States nearly 120,000 babies are born with congenital abnormalities each year. The cause of fetal congenital abnormalities due to genetic and non-genetic factors. Single gene mutations, balance disorders due to chromosomal abnormalities, and multifactorial abnormalities are included in genetic factors. Non-genetic factors can be caused by teratogen drugs (drugs, chemicals, infections, and maternal diseases that affect the fetus) and radiation. There are 5 risk factors that influence the occurrence of fetal congenital abnormalities, namely genetic, socioeconomic and demographic factors, environment, infection, and nutritional status. Aim. To determine the risk factors for congenital abnormalities in newborns at the Haji Adam Malik General Hospital and the University Hospital of North Sumatra in 2017-2019. Method. The design used by researchers uses a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was Patients with Congenital Abnormalities who were in the Human Rights Hospital and USU Hospital in 2017-2019. Result. The most influential risk factors for fetal abnormalities are maternal age, disease history, infectious history, and poor nutritional status. There are no results that can prove that the history of pregnancy affects the occurrence of fetal congenital abnormalities.
