Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of improving basketball perimeter shooting skills between introverted and extroverted students at MTs Negeri Bangkalan. The research method used a pseudo-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest group design involving 24 grade VII students who were divided into two groups based on personality type, each consisting of 12 students. Sampling was done using purposive sampling techniques with the Extrovert and Introverted Personality Inventory questionnaire instrument and a perimeter shooting test. The Micro Cycle training program was carried out for five days of training with a duration of 120 minutes per session, including physical tests, shooting form (BEEF), perimeter shoot, goal setting shoot, and mini games. Data analysis uses the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data is not normally distributed. The results showed that there was no significant difference between pretest and posttest scores in the introverted (p=0.705) and extroverted (p=0.096) groups. However, the extroverted group showed a tendency to improve better than the introverted group. The provision of UVL-BOCE verbal feedback has not shown a significant effect on the improvement of perimeter shooting skills in both personality types, indicating the need to modify learning methods that are more appropriate to the characteristics of each group.

Abstract

This study aims to improve pupils’ physical fitness and physical activity through the incorporation of the traditional game of ‘bentengan’ into Physical Education, Sport and Health lessons. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research, conducted in two cycles comprising planning, implementation, observation and evaluation. The subjects of this study were 36 pupils comprising 16 boys and 20 girls from Class VIII-D at State Junior High School 12, Surabaya. Data were obtained through physical fitness tests, knowledge assessments, behavioural observations, and pupil response questionnaires. The findings of this study indicate that there was an improvement in all elements of learning. The achievement rate in the cognitive aspect increased from 28% in the initial phase to 92% in Cycle II. In the psychomotor aspect, the achievement rate for the 30-metre run rose from 36% to 83%, for the shuttle run from 36% to 81%, and for the beep test from 50% to 92%. Affective observations showed that the majority of pupils were in the ‘good’ and ‘very good’ categories. Furthermore, pupils responded positively to lessons involving the traditional game of ‘bentengan’. In other words, the traditional game of ‘bentengan’ proved effective in improving pupils’ physical abilities and physical activity within the context of Physical Education lessons.

Abstract

Purpose. To study the effect of a healthy diet and physical activity program. Method A pre-experimental and post-experimental single group study design. Set up: The study was conducted at an educational institution in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Results: A total of 200 students participated in the study. Result. Dietary habits were assessed using different food components before and after the intervention. Healthy food intake such as milk increased from (1.92) to (2.625), vegetables from (2.97) to (3.40), fruits from (1.4795) to (2.2715), cereals from (2.987) to (5.02), and pulses from (1.985) to (2.2794). All these improvements were statistically significant with high t-values (p<0.05). Flesh group consumption slightly decreased from (0.4364) to (0.3676) but was still significant. However, bakery/snacks/sweets (0.3815 to 0.3384), fast food (0.2163 to 0.2005), and nuts (0.3216 to 0.3506) showed non-significant changes, indicating limited impact of intervention on these items. Physical activity also improved significantly. Minutes of activity increased from (158.21) to (182.34) with a t-value of (4.6), and METs increased from (671.18) to (767.95) with a t-value of (2.7), both statistically significant at 0.05 level. This indicates improvement in both duration and intensity of physical activity. Conclusions. The study concludes that an healthy diet combined with physical activity significantly improves dietary habits and physical activity levels.
