Language choice is an important in a sociolinguistics study. It is affected by social differences of the participants, seting, and topics, etc. This study is aimed to describe language choice in English language teaching at Akparta Surakarta. The data source of this research is conversation of teacher and student, student and student in the classroom. The method used was descriptive-qualitatif method. The result of the study finds that standard language and non-standard language used in English language teaching in Akparta Surakarta to communicate between the teacher and student, student and student. There are several factors that affect the language choice, such as participant, setting, topics, and purpose of the speaking.

RPS (Rencana Pembelajaran Semester -- Semester Learning Plan) is a document contains the framework or outline of learning plan for one semester. The RPS is used by the lecturer and for students. It is as the guideline in learning activities in order to reach the expected outcome. As there is expected outcome, thus it is designed both for lecturer and students and also for the principal, of subject. The RPS can be viewed from students side by having perception test. This perception test will perform either the RPS is synchronous with the students substantial needs by their department. Through perception, students will have notion of something, synchronicity. This research aims at (1) presenting perception of students from Broadcasting Department at Bina Sarana Informatika University on the RPS for English for Broadcasting subject; (2) viewing the influence of RPS through online learning in the Covid-19 pandemic era. This research is conducted by giving a questionnaire to students. Then, it is discussed and analyzed either by qualitative or quantitative research. Students from broadcasting semester IV are taken as an example in this research. There are 35 students was taken questionnaire. The data analysis are using the form of Spearman hypothesis test. The result shows that (1) students perception on RPS synchronousity is Synchronous; (2) There is no influence of students' perceptions of synchronization to their department through online learning. The proof shows that the value of P = 0.124 (P > 0.05) and the value of r xy = 0.294, means the relationship between students' perceptions of synchronicity to their department is not significant or weak.

Nowadays, internet is accessible for everyone. The use of internet in Indonesia in 2021 increases significantly compare with with 2019 survey. 202.6 million internet users in Indonesia are detected, and 80% of them are teenagers. Covid-19 pandemic is also one of the reason why mobile access penetration significantly increased. Ironically, the other survey from Statista in 2020 discovered the fact that they use the internet to access social media, especially whatsapp. It may a serious threat for our youngsters. However, this research believe that this is an opportunity to introduce a creative media to catch students’ attention, especially for language teaching and learning. For further, Lasvita, which is an android-based learning application is introduced. This research investigated and analyzed how it can attract the students’ attention, so that they will not depend too much on social media and more productive when they access internet. This research assumes that by having an adequate knowledge, an android-based learning will be no longer become a threat. On the other hand, it will be a vital media to fulfill new need in language learning during during pandemic.

The aim of this study was to analyze the signifier and signified of hyperbole in three songs by Katy Perry's, they are Firework, Rise, and Roar. This study applied a qualitative descriptive method with a semiotic approach by De Saussure that is used to understand the sign (signifier) of a sentence and understand the meaning (signified) in the hyperbole. The data collection techniques used were library study, highlighting the hyperbole, and determining the signifier and signified parts of the hyperbole in song lyrics. It was found out that there are four hyperboles in Firework. This song conveys messages about the virtue of remaining confident, loving ourselves, and having a positive impact upon everyone else. In Rise, there were four data of hyperbole. It conveys a message encouraging us to maintain our confidence and belief in our genuine identity. Lastly, Roar consisted of three hyperbole data. It sends out a message of encouragement to us to remain brave and capable of defining our identity towards those who constantly underestimate others

The purpose of this research is to know the interpretation meaning behind “Kursi Goyang”, "Larasuka", and "Mangu" lyrics by Fortwnty in the Nalar album. This research used a semiotic analysis approach developed by Michael Riffaterre. This semiotics helps researcher to investigate the interpretive meanings of the lyrics of "Kursi Goyang", "Larasuka", and "Mangu". The research process involves four stages, (1) Heuristic and Hermeneutic Readings, (2) Matrices, Variants, and Models, (3) Hypograms, and (4) Indirect Expressions. This research used a qualitative interpretive. The research data were obtained from the lyrics. The data were collected using listening and note-taking technique. The results of the research are from hermeneutic reading in the lyrics “Kursi Goyang” is interpreted when someone is so focused on making money and thinks that happiness comes from having a lot of money and a high position that they forget to take a break. The results of the research are from hermeneutic reading in the lyrics “Larasuka” interpreted as how lonely someone feels, and from hermeneutic reading in the lyrics “Mangu” interpreted as a romantic relationship between individuals who have different religious beliefs. The finding revealed there are three factors that cause indirect expressions named displacing of meaning, distorting of meaning, and creating of meaning.

The aim of this research is to describe the resistance exhibited by female characters towards their husbands and families, as demonstrated through open and covert forms of resistance in the novella "Al-Lawn Al-Akhar." The data collection technique employed in this study is literature review. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The research adopts a sociological approach to literature with James C. Scott's theory of resistance. The primary data source utilized is the novella "Al-Lawn Al-Akhar" by Ihsan Abdul Quddus. The findings of this research indicate the presence of two forms of resistance in the novella "Al-Lawn Al-Akhar" by Ihsan Abdul Quddus: open resistance and covert resistance. 1) Public resistance is demonstrated by female characters in the novella through acts of rebellion, contradiction, anger, and threats expressed with a raised voice and visible facial expressions. This form of resistance is adopted by female characters who feel they are being treated unfairly or denied justice, prompting them to resist in order to defend themselves and seek their rights or justice. 2) Hidden resistance is practiced by the female character within the novella. It is manifested through silent grumbling and cursing within their hearts, behavior that reflects disapproval, silence, and concealed tears not shown to others.

This research examines feminism as fought by women. Feminism is a movement that fights for equality between men and women. In this case, women want equal rights and opportunities in every aspect that men have. This research focuses on the types of feminism and women’s rights that fought by women in France in the 18th century. This research is a qualitative research and the method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. In addition, the theories used in this research have two theories. The first theory was the theory of feminism proposed by Rosemarie Tong to analyze the types of feminism found in Colette movie script. The second theory is the theory of women’s rights proposed by Sophie Mousset to analyze the rights of women fought by the main character in the Colette movie. The results of this research indicate that there are several types of feminism experienced by the main character. There are five types of feminism, they are Liberal feminism, Radical feminism, Anarchist feminism, Marxist feminism and Socialist Feminism. Moreover, there are women’s rights that are found in this movie. There are four women’s rights, they are Right to work, Freedom from slavery, Right to own property, and Right to own literary and artistic production.

This research examines psychology which is motivation of the main character in the short story. Motivation is a state inside us that demands a change, whether in ourselves or in our surroundings. Moreover, motivation is a person's desire to achieve the needs that they want. This research focuses on the types of motivation and the hierarchy needs that the main character try to achieve in the short story.This research is a qualitative research and the method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. In addition, the theories used in this research have two theories. The first theory was the theory of motivation proposed by Ryan and Decy to analyze the types of motivation found in To Build a Fire short story. The second theory is the theory of hierarchy needs proposed by Abraham Maslow to analyze the needs that the main character try to achieve.The results of this research indicate that there are two types of motivation which consist of intrinsic motivation, they are five data of behavior and five data of passion. In addition, they are extrinsic motivation which are three data of status and two data of rewards. Meanwhile, there are five types of hierarchy needs which consist of three data of psychological needs, four data of safety needs, three data of love and belongingness needs, two data of self-esteem needs and three data of cognitive needs.

This study aims to describe the inner conflict of the main character in the novel Mata Hari. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The source of the data in this study is the novel Mata Hari by Paulo Coelho. The data in this study are in the form of quotations that contain inner conflicts experienced by the main character. The method in this study is descriptive with a literary psychology approach. The technique used is literature study technique, namely content analysis. The research focus is Abraham Maslow's humanistic psychology study; (1) physiological needs, (2) safety, (3) love and belonging, (4) self-esteem/appreciation, and (5) self-actualization. The form of inner conflict is internal and external inner conflict. The results of the research show that there is an inner conflict experienced by the main character Mata Hari. Internal inner conflict, namely the main character was raped by the school principal when she was sixteen years old before the main character got to know the world and dived deeper to know the dark world. External inner conflict, in which the main character suffers greatly from accusations from her father, stepmother, and even her husband.

This study focused on promising practices used by EFL teachers in teaching and learning process. This study applied descriptive qualitative which focused on discourse analysis. This qualitative study involved non-numeric data. This study was conducted in Junior High School 2 Pinrang that focused on 18 students in VIII.4 and 18 students in VIII.5 and two English teachers as the participants. The instruments were recording namely video camera and sound recording to record the teachers’ promising practices, interview the teachers to clarify the promising practices used and to ask about the implication of promising practice in teaching and learning process. Thus, interview the students to know their responses on promising practices used by teacher. Based on the result, the teacher A and B mostly used commisisve speech act that function as promising in teaching and learning process. Promising utterance is making the students prepare their self in learning process. The result of obeservation and interview from the teachers, the commisisve speech act as promising not only has function to promise but also to assert, so the students can prepare their self and doing their homework. The students also gave positive responses on promising practices used by EFL teachers. Thus, it also gave implication in TEFL.
