Al Munir Journal of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting is open access and peer review of journals published by the Communication and Islamic Broadcasting Study Program of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences, Imam Bonjol Padang State Islamic University (UIN). This journal covers actual issues in Islamic communication studies, including the development of contemporary da'wah by utilizing media, Islamic information systems, rhetoric, literature, and government policies regarding broadcasting and information regulation. The purpose of this journal is to promote sharing of knowledge and understanding of communication issues. Then receive contributions from experts, researchers, practitioners and policy makers throughout the world. This journal is published periodically twice a year, precisely in January - June and July - December.

Abstract

As a new medium, the Lapor application has a platform that can have implications for the culture of communication of its users. Users of the Report application can easily provide their aspirations and complaints and get the clear information needed. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The technique used in data collection uses observation, interviews and documentation. The theory used is symbolic interaction theory and cultural norm theory. Where the theory of symbolic interaction states that humans interact with each other and act on the meaning that is obtained from the results of social interactions conducted with others, namely by using the media report to get the desired information. Meanwhile, according to the theory of cultural norms, the Report media used by users gives new impressions and beliefs to users of the Report application and can change the prevailing norms and create a new culture of communication using the Report application.

Abstract

The communication strategy is an important thing that must be considered by various parties. Along with the development of technology and communication in the 4.0 era, the communication strategies used have begun to be shifted by utilizing the use of social media as has been done by the Padang heritage community, which uses Instagram to disseminate the information so that it is known by a wider audience. This research used a qualitative descriptive method and was conducted in the city of Padang, with 6 informants who were members of the Padang Heritage Community. The conclusion of this study shows that in terms of designing a communication strategy carried out by the Padang heritage community on social media, Instagram also pays attention to communication components such as communicators, the channels used, audiences or targets, and the resulting feedback. In connection with this communication component, the Padang Heritage community also pays attention to the accuracy of the sources, contents, and forms of messages displayed on the Instagram @padangheritage social media account.

Abstract

This This paper attempts to describe the effectiveness of intercultural communication in building plurality of thoughts and attitudes of tolerance among religious communities, and provides an overview of the concept of intercultual communication and the concept of plurality of tolerance of religious communities. This study is a literature study through the work of other researchers obtained through journals, books, and the internet. The results of the study show that the concept of intercultural communication has a relationship in building perceptions, attitudes and actions of society in carrying out life activities in a socio-religious context. communication becomes a medium in forging bonds between religious communities. Integration between tolerance and plurality is constructed in a system of religious harmony and harmony based on human attitudes in communication, including several attitudes shown when individuals attend and internalize external events including denial, defense, minimization, acceptance, adaptation and integration. This process will certainly be faced by each individual with various attitude criteria that are shown including being exclusive, inclusive and pluralist. Thus tolerance comes with effective and efficient communication and provides a positive view of each ethnic, racial, cultural and religious entity.

Abstract

SMK Pelita 2 Bandung is a private school in Indonesia, West Java. SMK Pelita 2 Bandung managed to cooperate together with the business world/world industry. In building relationships with the business world/Industrial World SMK Pelita 2 not only works just like other SMK. Appropriate marketing communication strategy is required therein. Therefore, SMK Pelita 2 Bandung implements integrated marketing communication in communicating and building relationships. The purpose of this research is to know the marketing communication strategy conducted by SMK Pelita 2 Bandung in establishing a relationship with the world of business/world. The study uses qualitative descriptive research methods with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The theory used in this study was the integrated marketing theory of Communists. The results of this research is an integrated marketing communication instrument into a strategy used by SMK Pelita 2 Bandung in building relationships with the business world/industrial world. The marketing instruments are sales promotion, direct marketing, Public relations & Publicity, and personal sales. The process of marketing communication that SMK traversed varies according to the integrated Marketing communication instrument. Marketing communication strategy applied by SMK Pelita 2 Bandung shows success in building relationships with the business world/industrial world.

Abstract

The use of social media such as Instagram is not only for communication and sharing moments such as photos and videos but Instagram can also be used as a medium in building one's self-image in any aspect, in achieving positive and negative images, on other Instagram users. One of them is Najwa Shihab, who in fact is a public figure who often uses Instagram to share valuable moments when creating his own image. The purpose of this research is to find out the construction of Najwa Shihab's self-image on Instagram social media. As for the paradigm itself, it uses a constructivist paradigm with descriptive research type and a qualitative approach method with Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory. In this study, the object of his research is in the form of photos and descriptions on the @najwashihab Instagram account. The results of this study are to make components of how to form a self-image, where there are verbal and nonverbal messages seen from the sentences or captions he wrote with a characteristic and the style of photography and fashion worn by Najawa Shihab. Therefore, this study concludes that Najwa Shihab has several characteristics in building his self-image which is simple, educational, smart, humble, modern, fashionable and inspiring.

Abstract

The marriage is essentially a sacred bond and will last a lifetime. A marriage not only brings together two individuals but also brings together two families who will contain a new family system. In the present we have not seen a few families who underwent a long distance marriage and there are many factors that influence, there are those who have to make a living far to his family or some who continue their school. This research aims to see how the role of communication media and the quality of communication in the family live a long distance. This research is a qualitative research, data collection is done by the method of semi-structured interviews to find this research informant using the snowball technique. In this study there are two concepts, namely family communication and family communication media which results from this study are communication media playing an important role in doing a long distance marriage because the foundation of a long distance relationship commitment is communication that never breaks. All informants in this study argue that video call communication media are the best media used because we can meet face to face even though the body does not meet.

Abstract

This article aims to present the phenomenon of the islamophobic movement which has become increasingly widespread after WTC and Pentagon explosions in United States. Various accusations have always been addressed to Islam and its followers. Islamophobia is developed systematically and measurably. With the help of social media, Islamophobia is easily spread to all corners of the world, even the effects of Islamophobia are also being felt in a country where the majority of Muslims. Islamophobic actions that occur in the real world will be re-expressed on social media, but very rarely the expression of Islamophobia that occurs on social media, is presented directly in the real world. Islamophobia does not only present disharmony between followers of different religions, but also counterproductive in the life of the nation and state. This research uses descriptive analysis method by researching the previous literature contained in various scientific journals. The result of this article are the recommendations for religious leaders (Muslim scholars) to be actively involved in social media to voice Islam, a friendly religion for all beside in addition to making it easier to counter the presence of Islamophobia in the country

Abstract

Intan Khasanah is one of the hijab fashion influencers who looks masculine. Through her Instagram account @strngrrr, she shares thoughts that not all women who wear hijab must look according to the standards or feminine stereotypes that exist in society in general and not all masculine appearances can only be owned by a man, and by wearing a hijab they can still look cool and fashionable. However, the meaning of the audience is not necessarily in line with or even accept his ideas. Thus, this research is interesting to be investigated further with the aim of describing the meaning of the audience towards masculinity in hijab fashion in the photos uploaded by Intan Khasanah. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods and Stuart Hall reception analysis, and is supported by Butler's theory of gender performativity. The results obtained from the meaning of audiences in this study are varied, but have a tendency to interpret them in a negotiated manner which means they will not immediately receive media messages and interpret them for granted, but are carried out through negotiations according to opinions about the experiences of each audience..

Abstract

In general, online media is information that is presented online on the internet. Online media has a very wide scope, ranging from online TV, online radio, and online news portals. That an online news portal is a site or web page that contains the types of news. So a news portal is a site that displays information about information that occurs to the public. It can be seen that there are many news portals that have sprung up on the internet, making it easier for readers to get the latest information. Based on the observations that the author made that KPI students of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences UNIVERSITAS  IB Padang in obtaining information by using or accessing information on news portals. That the news portals accessed by KPI students are detik.com, kompas.com, tribunnews, viva.co.id, okezone.com, Kapanlagi.com, online republic, realmberita.com, padangekspres.com, Suarakampus.com. Utilization of online news portals for KPI students as information, information about academics, job vacancies, tourism, technology and crime. The supporting factor is due to curiosity and adding insight along with being supported by cellphone (HP) facilities. The inhibiting factor is due to eye fatigue, inaccurate news, and typing errors in writing.

Abstract

This study examines the work patterns of middle and young journalists in the newspaper industry. Journalists work patterns seen from the process of selecting news, researching news, and writing news. With the advent of the digital era, these three processes can be seen by the consumption patterns of digital media for middle and young journalists. This study was conducted using a study case with in-depth interviews with journalists of the Suara Merdeka newspaper. The results showed that the presence of digital media is used by middle and young journalists in the local newspape for personal needs outside of journalistic duties. The reason for this is the pattern of digital media consumption of young and middle journalists who are included in the categories of “joiners” and “conversationalists”. In other words they are connoisseurs and spectators. For news development and idea searches, they rely more on news sources in the form of press releases, local government, e-mail and emergency services rather than internet research. This is related to the company's principles which try to minimize legal problems from published news.
