Abstract

Carica papaya, a type of tree from the Caricaceae family, is renowned for its medicinal benefits due to its diverse chemical composition. The leaves of Carica papaya, in particular, are commonly used in traditional medicine for their purported anti-dengue, anti-malarial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. However, despite their widespread use, there is limited research available on the antioxidant characteristics of Carica papaya leaves. This study aimed to examine the potential protective effects of Carica papaya leaves methanolic (CPLM) extract against oxidative stress in Artemia salina (brine shrimp). To evaluate the antioxidant potential of CPLM extract, two commonly used antioxidant activity assays, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays, were performed. Additionally, an oxidative stress protection assay was carried out by exposing ten Artemia salina nauplii to CPLM extract for one hour before exposing them to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The results of this study showed that the CPLM extract has antioxidant properties. Additionally, the oxidative stress protection assay revealed that the CPLM extract increased the survival rate of Artemia salina nauplii exposed to H2O2. The study suggests that the CPLM extract obtained from Carica papaya leaves possesses antioxidant properties. It can provide protection against oxidative stress caused by hydrogen peroxide in Artemia salina.

Abstract

Unhealthy food intake, physical inactivity, and body image (BI) dissatisfaction could potentially lead to obesity and health problems. This cluster-randomized intervention study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a nutrition and physical activity (PA) intervention on related knowledge, attitudes, and practices among Saudi adolescent girls (aged 13–14) living in Arar City. One hundred thirty-eight girls were selected and recruited randomly from two schools. The respondents in the intervention group (IG; n=68) received a three-month intervention program that consisted of six 90- minute sessions. The participants in the control group (CG; n=70) received only their traditional education and did not receive the intervention program. The groups’ total pre-test scores for practices were significantly different; therefore, the pre-test scores were used as covariates. The IG demonstrated significant improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and practices (p<0.001 for all), and improvement in the IG was greater than that in the CG at the post- test and three-month follow-up time points (p<0.001 for both). These findings provide evidence of the significant influence of a nutrition, PA, and positive BI intervention on related knowledge, attitudes, and practices among Saudi adolescent girls.

Abstract

Online love fraud is a cybercrime. Victims typically lose around 500 billion rupiahs every year in Indonesia. The research related to the experiences of victims of love scammers is limited, and the authorities often ignore victims who report. This study aimed to explore the experiences of Indonesian women as a victim. The study is qualitative with a phenomenological design utilizing purposive sampling. Twelve victims of online love fraud participated in the study. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews via video chat. Data processing was carried out by verbatim transcription of the video chats. The resulting texts were then rigorously read and re-read, coded, and grouped according to emerging themes. The victims described the experiences of sending large sums of money and naked photos to the perpetrators. The themes reflect the psychosocial impact of love fraud on women: shock, sadness, anger, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Online love fraud impacts the psychosocial functioning of victims. Victims feel a double burden in losing money and self-respect. These findings highlight the importance of policy, mental health practice, and research. Conclusions suggest psychosocial intervention is vital for the survivor.

Abstract

A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted purposively among 45 children who took regular health and nutritional care facilities in the Savoy Autism Rehabilitation Center at Narayanganj, Bangladesh with the aimed to observe the nutritional status and dietary patterns of the selected attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) child. About 24% of the respondents were well nourished, while 18% of respondents were overweight and 58% of the children were underweight. Dietary patterns were monotonous, cereals (rice/bread) consumption were higher, whereas daily fish and meat consumption were very poor such as 4.4% (small fish), 13.3% (large fish), and 2.2% (meat) respectively daily. Fruits and vegetables consumption were also found as poor among the children. It can be concluded that more emphasis should be given to the incorporation of meat, fish, fruits and vegetables daily into the diet of children with providing nutritional care guidelines to the caregivers of these children so that their diet gets more diversified to ensure macro and micronutrient adequacy. Diet rich with adequate nutrients and proper behavioral and psychiatric therapy should be provided in order to control hyperactive-related disorders.

Abstract

Hypertension is a leading risk factor for major chronic illnesses. This study investigated the quality of life (QOL) of hypertensive patients in an urban setting and evaluate related factors. A cross-sectional study on 220 hypertensive patients was performed in Hanoi, Vietnam. Short-form 12 version 2 (SF12-v2) was used to assess QOL. Sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were also obtained. Multivariate regression was utilized to explore the related factors with patients’ QOL. The mean physical health (PCS-12) and mental health (MCS-12) scores were 43.3 (SD=7.9) and 56.3 (SD=6.5), respectively, Higher age was related to a lower PCS-12. People living in low-population-density settings have a higher MCS-12 score than those living in high-density settings. Increasing comorbidity and medication reduced both component scores. Patients participating in social activity had the MCS-12 score higher than those not participating. This study found a moderate level of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in hypertensive patients regardless of treatment progress. Regular screening and controlling comorbidities, as well as motivating active employment and social activities involvement, are the potential to enhance the HRQOL of this population.

Abstract

The National Health Insurance program started running in Indonesia on January 1, 2014. Along with the increasing number of National Health Insurance participants and health facilities, more criticism has emerged from various parties, including from National Health Insurance providers regarding the alleged fraud. Fraud can have a negative effect on finances, the standard of medical care, and the perpetrator's reputation. This study's goal was to assess the likelihood that fraud may occur at Dadi Regional Hospital in Makassar, Indonesia. The study also explored the procedures and policies in place for preventing the fraud. This qualitative study employed phenomenological design. The results of the study show that there is a fraud prevention system at Dadi Regional Hospital in the form of policy and guideline formulation, a culture of prevention, implementation of quality control, and cost control. Even though they already have a prevention system in place, there is still some lack of information being disseminated about the fraud prevention team established. There are still frequent discrepancies between the diagnosis code input in the National Health Insurance system and the patient's diagnosis Hence, the Internal Monitoring Unit is still in the process of establishing a fraud prevention system

Abstract

The 2019's coronavirus disease is an infectious illness brought on by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Compliance with health protocols by the public is declining. Physical distance-keeping is no longer common in public spaces, and many people no longer wear masks when leaving the house. The populace feels that specific areas, such as schools, campuses, and places of worship, are the only ones under surveillance and supervision. Federal, state, and local governments have set up rules to prevent the spread of the disease. This study employs quantitative survey research techniques. The researchers used surveys on policy execution and a public satisfaction score. The Spearman rank and multiple linear regression tests were employed in the data analysis for this investigation. There were 300 respondents who filled out a questionnaire followed by data analysis. The results of data analysis using the Spearman rank test obtained a p-value of 0.000<0.05 with a Spearman correlation value of 0.26. The p-value for handling is 0.000<0.05 with a Spearman correlation value of 0.232. The multiple linear regression test resulted in a COVID-19 prevention policy by adding a community satisfaction index of 21.8% and a COVID-19 handling policy by adding a community satisfaction index of 15.7%.

Abstract

Parents’ divorce is one of the life events that elicit pressure in adolescents, to such an extent that parents’ divorce is a predictor of depressive disorder in adolescents. Coping strategy plays an important role in the relationship between pressure and depression. This research aimed to examine coping strategies (problem-focused, emotion-focused, and dysfunctional coping) and specific coping behaviours which affect adolescents with divorced parents’ depressive symptoms. Participants are 80 adolescents with divorced parents from several cities in Indonesia, aged between 13 to 19 years old (mean=16.6 years, SD=1.62 with 76% female and 24% male). Depressive symptoms were measured using the children’s depression inventory, and specific coping behaviour was measured with Brief-COPE or coping orientation to problems experienced. In this research, it was found that 38% of the adolescents had depression. On the multiple linear regression, only problem-focused coping and dysfunctional coping significantly affected depression and not emotion-focused coping. Furthermore, among 14 specific coping behaviours, only instrumental support and behaviour disengagement affect depressive symptoms. These findings indicate that intervention focused on increasing the utilization of problem-focused coping and reducing dysfunctional coping might be beneficial to minimize depressive symptoms in adolescents with divorced parents.
