Abstract

Cultural diversity requires counselors to have multicultural competence so that guidance and counseling services can be carried out effectively and fairly. This study aims to examine the nature of multicultural counseling, the concepts of culture and culture, and their implications in counseling practice. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through a literature study approach, which analyzes books, journal articles, and scientific sources relevant to the topic of multicultural counseling. The results of this study show that culture and cultural practices play an important role in shaping the behavior, values, and perspectives of counselees. Multicultural counseling emphasizes counselor competencies that include multicultural awareness, multicultural knowledge, and multicultural skills to prevent cultural bias that can lead to misunderstandings in counseling sessions. The application of the principles of cultural relativism and a non-discriminatory attitude has proven to be important in building an empathetic and inclusive counseling relationship. Multicultural counseling is an essential approach in providing guidance and counseling services that are responsive to cultural diversity, especially in the context of Indonesia's multicultural society.

Abstract

Social media, particularly TikTok, has become an influential space for adolescents in shaping social understanding and attitudes, including perspectives on gender equality. This study aims to analyze the representation of gender equality in TikTokcontent and examine its potential as a medium for Guidance and Counseling services. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using qualitative content analysis. Data were collected through non-participant observation and documentation of TikTokvideos containing messages related to gender equality, including narratives, visual elements, and symbolic representations. The findings indicate that TikTokcontent represents gender equality through the depiction of equal gender roles, the rejection of discriminatory gender stereotypes, and an emphasis on respect and justice in social relationships. These messages are conveyed through contextual communication styles and engaging audiovisual formats that are easily understood by adolescents. The study also reveals that TikTokhas potential as a supportive medium for Guidance and Counseling services, particularly in informational, preventive, and developmental services.

Abstract

Contemporary learning requires elementary school students to possess critical thinking skills as a fundamental competence to address various challenges. However, classroom practices at the elementary level are still largely teacher-centered, which limits students’ active involvement in constructing and developing these skills. Project Based Learning (PjBL) is considered an appropriate instructional approach to address this issue, as it actively engages students in problem-solving activities through project-based tasks. This study aims to analyze the implementation of PjBL and its role in enhancing elementary students’ critical thinking skills. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method and was conducted at SDN 063/VI Rejosari, Muaro Regency. The findings indicate that the implementation of PjBL enhances students’ active participation in the learning process and encourages them to ask questions and express their ideas confidently. Furthermore, students’ critical thinking skills improved, as reflected in their ability to identify problems, formulate questions, provide logical reasoning, and draw well-founded conclusions. Therefore, PjBL can serve as an effective alternative learning model to support the development of critical thinking skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in shaping students’ character at SMKN PP Merangin. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research participants consisted of teachers, students, and the school principal selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results show that teachers play a strategic role in character formation through several key roles, namely as role models, mentors, educators, supervisors, and motivators. These roles are implemented through disciplinary habituation such as punctuality and adherence to school rules, the integration of character values such as responsibility and cooperation in learning activities and vocational practices, and the provision of positive reinforcement and educational corrective feedback toward students’ behavior. In addition, teachers’ exemplary attitudes, discipline, and communication serve as important factors that encourage students to imitate positive behaviors in daily school life. These findings indicate that students’ character formation occurs through continuous pedagogical interactions between teachers and students within the school environment.

Abstract

One of the major challenges in vocational education today is not merely producing technically skilled graduates, but also nurturing students who are capable of creating their own employment opportunities, particularly in the agricultural sector facing market dynamics and limited formal job absorption. School production units offer strategic potential as contextual learning platforms that integrate real work practices with entrepreneurial value formation. This study explores the development of production units as a medium for agricultural entrepreneurship learning at SMKN PP Merangin. A descriptive qualitative case study was conducted involving vocational teachers and agricultural students. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that production units provide authentic learning experiences that enhance practical skills and foster responsibility, discipline, and independence among students. However, the integration of entrepreneurial objectives into instructional planning remains limited. The study concludes that strengthening curriculum integration, teacher facilitation, and school management support is essential to optimize production units as an effective medium for agricultural entrepreneurship learning.

Abstract

This article was written to examine the relationship between academic resilience and academic stress among Islamic Education students at UIN Palangka Raya. This study focuses on the high academic demands that have the potential to cause academic stress among students during the course of their studies. To address this issue, the study employs the theoretical framework of resilience proposed by Howard and Johnson, while the theory of academic stress is based on Bernadette M. Gadzella’s work. Research data were collected from 51 respondents using purposive sampling and analyzed quantitatively via Spearman’s rho correlation test. The results reveal a strong positive correlation between academic resilience and academic stress (r = 0.584; p = 0.000). These findings warrant further research into the protective functions of academic resilience.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the cultural values of the 1 Suro Ceremony tradition at the Sri Aji Jayabaya Petilasan can be integrated into guidance and counseling services to increase self-awareness. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the caretaker and the surrounding community. The findings showed that the tradition contains important values such as spirituality, self-reflection, respect for ancestors, social togetherness, and mutual cooperation. Activities such as collective prayers and reflection were believed to help individuals understand themselves and build harmonious relationships with God, others, and the environment. These cultural values can be applied in guidance and counseling services as a form of local wisdom–based learning. The study is expected to contribute to the development of counseling services that support character building and improve students’ self-awareness in schools.

Abstract

In the culture of the Javanese people, especially in Bojonegoro, the Khayangan Api Eternal Fire Ceremony contains philosophical values related to self-reflection, respect for ancestors, and social togetherness. These values can be a source of contextual learning in the development of cultural-based guidance and counseling services. This article aims to examine the relationship between the concept of self-reflection in the Eternal Fire Ceremony of Khayangan Api and the principles of multicultural counseling. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews and relevant literature studies. The results of the study show that cultural values in the ceremony are relevant to the development of self-awareness through self-reflection, cultural identity awareness, and the meaning of individual life experiences. The integration of local cultural values in guidance and counseling services can be a source of contextual learning to help individuals identify with themselves, reflect on experiences, and strengthen cultural identity.
