Abstract

Sexual harassment is defined as any physical, verbal, or non-verbal treatment that is sexual in nature and causes the victim to experience sexual harassment.. The action is in the form of sexist jokes to rape. Midwives also need to be able to handle the problem of sexual harassment including promotive efforts to increase public knowledge regarding sexual harassment. Efforts to increase knowledge include health education. This research was held to assess the difference in effectiveness in health education with e-leaflet and video media on increasing the knowledge of adolescent girls about access to protection for victims of sexual harassment. This research was using a quasi-experimental design with the untreated control group design with dependent pre-test and post-test samples. The study was conducted in November - December 2024 to grade IX students of SMPN 2 Panji. To determine the sample, this research was using the total sampling method to obtain 58 subjects. The sample was divided randomly into 3 groups named the e-leaflet, video, and control groups. The data were tested with Kruskal-Wallis test method and obtained p 0.013 < 0.05. This value shows a significant difference between the knowledge levels of students in the e-leaflet group, video group, and control group.

Abstract

Stretch marks (striae distensae) are common in postpartum women, caused by excessive skin stretching and dermal tearing. Herbal treatments such as Centella asiatica and Aloe vera are known for their skin-regenerating properties. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Centella asiatica gel and Aloe vera gel in reducing stretch marks in postpartum mothers. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest two-group design was used, data were collected from December 2024 to April 2025 at BPM Sumirah, Surabaya involving 32 postpartum women aged 20-35 years, selected via purposive sampling. The participants were divided into two groups: one received Centella asiatica gel, and the other received Aloe vera gel, applied twice daily for 8 weeks. The Revised Striae Severity Scale (RSSS) assess the severity of stretch marks before and after treatment. Data analysis included paired t-tests and independent t-tests. Results showed significant reductions in RSSS scores for both groups (p = 0.001). The Centella asiatica group decreased from 1.50 ± 0.52 to 0.63 ± 0.50, while the Aloe vera group decreased from 2.50 ± 0.53 to 2.06 ± 0.44. The independent t-test indicated a significant difference (p = 0.001), favoring Centella asiatica gel. In conclusion, Centella asiatica gel is more effective than Aloe vera gel in reducing postpartum stretch marks, suggesting its potential as a natural alternative for improving skin elasticity.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding remains difficult to achieve, with prevalence still falling short of national and global targets. One contributing factor is the discomfort experienced during nursing, such as nipple cracks and blocked milk ducts, which can reduce milk output and discourage continued breastfeeding. Carrot juice, rich in beta-carotene, vitamin A, and antioxidants, offers anti-inflammatory benefits that may accelerate healing, relieve pain, and prevent complications like mastitis. Given these properties, carrot juice is a simple, natural addition to postpartum care. Carrot juice should be given urgently to breastfeeding mothers as it contains beta-carotene and antioxidants that help reduce inflammation, relieve nipple pain, and prevent blocked milk ducts. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of carrot juice (Daucus carota L.) in improving breastfeeding outcomes by reducing the incidence of nipple cracks and blocked milk ducts. A quasi-experimental design was used involving 15 breastfeeding mothers. Participants consumed 250 cc of freshly prepared carrot juice daily for seven days. Data were collected before and after the intervention using observation sheets and analyzed with the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a Z value of -3.41 (p=0.001) for nipple cracks and -3.29 (p=0.001) for blocked ducts. Both p-values (< 0.05) indicate significant improvement post-intervention. These findings confirm that regular consumption of carrot juice can effectively reduce the severity of nipple injuries and milk duct blockages. Carrot juice is a low-cost, accessible, and safe nutritional therapy that supports lactation. Further research is recommended to explore its mechanism of action and potential dosage optimization for broader clinical application.

Abstract

Infant development is a crucial Element of a kid’s maturation and progress encompassing motor, language, social, and cognitive skills. Early stimulation, such as infant massage, can stimulate the core neurological framework manages essential physiological processes and accelerate the achievement of age-appropriate developmental milestones. This research intended to evaluate the effect of infant massage on babies' development aged three months. The study employed a semi-experimental approach utilizing a before-and-after evaluation with a comparison group structure. The participants were made up of 70 3-month-old infants, divided into two groups: 35 in the therapy cluster at Balowerti Community Health Center and 35 in the control group at Sukorame Public Wellness Facility. The selection method applied was purposive sampling. The intervention provided to the treatment group consisted of 15 minutes of infant massage twice a week for four weeks, performed by trained mothers. The control group received only standard developmental monitoring care. Developmental data were measured using the Pre-Developmental Screening Questionnaire (KPSP). Analysis used the Mann-Whitney U Test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings indicated a notable improvement in developmental metrics among the intervention group (mean increased from 5.49 to 7.06; Z = -4.326; p = 0.000), Meanwhile, the control group exhibited no substantial variation (p = 0.343). Regular infant massage is effective in improving the development of 3-month-old infants. Massage can be incorporated into a family-based early stimulation program.

Abstract

Malnutrition in Indonesia is a health problem that the government has yet to fully address. East Java's achievement for stunting is 7.51%, which is above the Nutrition and MCH Program Indicator Target for stunting in 2023 of 18.4%. The prevalence of stunting in Bangkalan was 26.2% in 2022, and decreased to 10.2% in 2023. The objective is to examine the relationship between the factors that contribute to stunting in Bangkalan. The research method used correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach, where the independent variables and dependent variables were collected at the same time. Variables are gender of infants, nutritional status of infants, history of LBW, history of maternal anemia and CED, and stunting; research sample: 398 infants with cluster sampling technique. Research instruments: observation sheets and interviews. Regression and multivariate statistical tests were used, using logistic regression. Statistical tests for gender with stunting incidence: ρ>0.05, LBW history with stunting incidence: ρ>0.05, nutritional status with stunting incidence: ρ<0.05, anemia history with stunting incidence: ρ<0.05, and CED history with stunting incidence: ρ<0.05. The gender of the young child and the history of LBW has no relationship with stunting; nutritional status, history of maternal anemia, and CED has a relationship with stunting. The most influential factors are: Nutritional Status of Toddlers, Pregnant women's anemia history, the impact of sex on stunting in relation to toddlers' gender, and LBW's past

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period marked by rapid physical and psychological changes that contribute to the formation of body image, which may influence health-related behaviors such as dietary habits and nutritional status. This study aimed to examine the relationship between body image perception, dietary habits, and hemoglobin levels among adolescent girls. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 70 tenth-grade female students at Public Vocational School 3 Malang. Body image was assessed using the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire–Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS), while dietary habits were evaluated using the Adolescent Food Habits Checklist (AFHC). Hemoglobin levels were measured using standard procedures. Pearson correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between body image perception and dietary habits (p = 0.046; r = 0.24), whereas no significant association was found between body image perception and hemoglobin levels (p = 0.983). These findings indicate that adolescent girls with a more positive body image tend to adopt healthier eating habits, although body image does not directly influence hemoglobin levels. The results suggest that school-based nutrition programs should incorporate body image education as part of adolescent health promotion to encourage healthy dietary behaviors, which may indirectly support optimal nutritional status.

Abstract

Birth Preparedness and Complication Readiness (BPCCR) is a strategy aimed at promoting planning for childbirth and emergency preparedness among pregnant women, their families, and communities. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the GURAKA application on maternal preparedness for childbirth. The study population consisted of third-trimester pregnant women in the service area of Kota Community Health Center. Sixty participants were selected using consecutive sampling and were allocated into two groups: one group used the GURAKA application, while the control group used the MCH Book. Data were analyzed sequentially using test of normality and homogeneity, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and Mann–Whitney U test. The Mann-Whitney analysis showed that, in the pretest, the intervention group demonstrated a higher mean rank (36.32) than the control group (24.68), with the difference being statistically significant (p = 0.009). In the posttest, the intervention group’s mean rank increased to 37.10, while the control group decreased to 23.90, with p = 0.003 (p<0.05). These findings indicate that the GURAKA Application is more effective than the MCH Book in enhancing maternal readiness for childbirth.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that impairs child growth. Its main causes include inadequate dietary intake and recurrent gastrointestinal infections. Probiotic and prebiotic–based interventions are believed to improve gut function and enhance nutrient absorption. This study applied a pre–post test design involving 15 stunted toddlers. The intervention consisted of locally sourced foods containing probiotics and prebiotics, administered for 14 days. Data collection included body weight, height, and Z-scores, measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The mean body weight increased by 0.25 kg (p=0.001), while height increased by 0.64 cm (p=0.001). The weight-for-age Z-score improved by 0.27, and the height-for-age Z-score improved by 0.23. All participants demonstrated positive changes, with no decrease observed. Locally sourced foods containing probiotics and prebiotics were proven effective in improving body weight and height among stunted toddlers. This approach offers a simple, affordable, and practical nutritional strategy for the prevention and management of stunting at the community level.

Abstract

Oxidative stress is a key factor in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is characterized by hypertension and proteinuria. Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) will decrease when reactive oxygen species (ROS) are overproduced. Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) contains polyphenols and vitamin E, which are known to have strong antioxidant properties. The aim of this study was to assess how EVOO supplementation affects SOD activity in a rat model of preeclampsia (Rattus norvegicus). Pregnant rats were divided into a normal control group, a preeclamptic control group administered with L-NAME, and treatment groups receiving L-NAME and different doses of EVOO in a post-test control group design. Spectrophotometry was used to measure SOD activity. The results showed a significant difference between the SOD activity of the control and treatment groups (P value = 0.002). The optimal EVOO dose returned SOD activity to near normal control levels. In conclusion, EVOO supplementation shows potential as an adjunct therapy to reduce oxidative stress in preeclampsia by increasing SOD activity.
