Abstract

This study aims to understand the use of the song "Rumah" written and performed by Salma Salsabil, and the song "Kembali Pulang," a collaborative work between Suara Kayu and Feby Putri, in Teaching Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA). The main focus of this study is how these two songs can enhance Indonesian language skills, such as speaking, reading, listening, and writing, while also introducing Indonesian cultural values like togetherness, family bonds, and the longing for one's hometown. A qualitative approach with content analysis is employed to explore the application of these songs in BIPA learning. The song "Rumah" is suitable for beginner learners, while "Kembali Pulang" is more appropriate for intermediate to advanced learners. Both songs convey important messages about the values of family and the experience of being away from home in Indonesian social life. Through these songs, learners not only improve their language skills but also gain an understanding of emotional expressions in Indonesian, such as longing and exhaustion. Therefore, the use of songs as a media for BIPA learning proves to be an effective way to introduce both the Indonesian language and culture in an enjoyable and practical manner.

Abstract

The movie “Sundel Bolong” highlights the struggle of women in a patriarchal society through the character of Alisa, who faces moral and social dilemmas after becoming pregnant out of wedlock. Her transformation into Sundel Bolong illustrates an attempt to achieve existential freedom, despite having to pay with stigma and ostracization. This article uses a qualitative approach to analyze the value of feminism in the film, highlighting how women are portrayed as victims of the patriarchal system through experiences of sexual violence and betrayal. The film not only presents a horror story, but also offers insight into women's struggle against oppression, highlighting the duality of women as “angels” and “monsters” and criticizing traditional gender roles. Sundel Bolong's retaliation against her abuser becomes a symbol of resistance to patriarchy, while the theme of women's loss of existential freedom is central to the narrative.

Abstract

The theory of semiotics was first coined by two experts, namely Ferdinand de Saussure and Charles Sanders Peirce. In this research, the author uses descriptive qualitative method with Peirce's semiotic approach. The object of this research is the play Sumur Tanpa Dasar by Arifin C. Noer. Sumur Tanpa Dasar is a play that was first performed in 1964 in Yogyakarta. The results show that Juki's character depicts deep symbols about the absurdity of life, time travel, complicated relationships, and thirst for freedom. Of the three forms of signs, icons are found the most. This research makes a new contribution by examining Sumur Tanpa Dasar from the point of view of Peirce's semiotics, which was previously analyzed more with structural approaches and literary psychology. This research is relevant for the development of literature, philosophy, and art studies, as well as a reference for similar research in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the “Cerdas Cergas” textbook in supporting Indonesian language learning based on the Merdeka Curriculum. Through in-depth analysis of the suitability of the material with learning outcomes and linguistic quality, this study found that the “Cerdas Cergas” textbook has good potential in developing students' various language skills. However, there are several aspects that need to be improved, such as using simpler language, providing more diverse examples, and stronger integration with the context of students' lives. The results of this study provide important implications for the development of Indonesian language textbooks in the future, namely the need for textbooks that not only present complete material, but are also able to stimulate students' interest in learning and develop the competencies needed in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the function of language in traditional rituals and 5-7 year olds' pragmatic understanding of language use. The study used a qualitative approach with communication ethnography method, involving participant observation and in-depth interviews of 20 children aged 5-7 years who participated in traditional rituals in the Osing tribal community, Banyuwangi. Data were collected through audio-visual recordings of children's interactions during traditional rituals, field notes, and interviews with children and traditional leaders. Data were analyzed using the pragmatics theoretical framework. The results showed that children were able to identify and interpret various language functions in traditional rituals, such as declarative (ritualistic), expressive (social identity), and directive (instructional and educational) functions. Children's understanding of pragmatics is reflected in their ability to respond appropriately to ritual expressions and adjust language use according to the customary context. The research findings also reveal the existence of a scaffolding process by adults in facilitating children's understanding of the pragmatic aspects of ritual language. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of traditional rituals in early childhood pragmatic development and highlights the importance of preserving local wisdom as a rich source of language learning. The practical implications of this research include recommendations for integrating elements of indigenous rituals in early childhood education curricula to support the development of their pragmatic competence.

Abstract

This research discusses verbal bulliying in the form of insults, which occurs in online social media. Forensic linguistics as a basis in analyzing insults in an act of bulliying in online social media. This research aims to analyze and as an access used in forensic science through a linguistic point of view in revealing a case of verbal bulliying crimes that are rampant in social media. By using descriptive research, data is collected through documentation in the form of screenshots of posts, comments, or videos, then analyzed to find data that can be used as evidence of verbal bulliying. The results showed that insults as a form of language crime, through words and speech which are then disseminated on various online social media platforms, such as; Instragram, Facebook, Tiktok, and X (Twitter). The findings are expected to make a contribution to the science of language, especially forensic linguistics and a deeper understanding of verbal bulliying in the form of insults on online social media.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji implementasi Model Pembelajaran Discovery dengan Kegiatan Menonton (MPBKM) dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia pada Kurikulum Merdeka. Menggunakan pendekatan Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D), data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kelas dan kuesioner skala Likert terhadap siswa kelas VIII. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 85% siswa mengalami peningkatan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan menulis, sementara 45% sangat terlibat dalam pembelajaran, 40% terlibat secara moderat, dan 15% memiliki keterlibatan rendah akibat kesulitan dalam adaptasi teknologi. Tantangan yang diidentifikasi meliputi adaptasi teknologi (15%), manajemen kelas, dan waktu pembelajaran yang lebih lama. Meskipun demikian, MPBKM secara signifikan meningkatkan motivasi dan berpikir kritis siswa. Untuk mengoptimalkan efektivitasnya, diperlukan peningkatan pelatihan literasi digital dan strategi implementasi yang lebih terstruktur. Studi ini mendukung penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis multimedia interaktif guna meningkatkan keterlibatan dan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Kata kunci: Discovery learning, kegiatan menonton, kurikulum merdeka, pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia   ABSTRACT This study examines the implementation of the Discovery Learning Model with Watching Activities (MPBKM) in Indonesian language learning under the Independent Curriculum. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach, data were collected from eighth-grade students through classroom observations and Likert-scale questionnaires. The results show that 85% of students demonstrated improved comprehension and writing skills, while 45% were highly engaged, 40% moderately engaged, and 15% showed low engagement due to difficulty adapting to digital media. Challenges identified include technology adaptation (15%), classroom management issues, and extended instructional time. Despite these challenges, MPBKM significantly enhanced student motivation and critical thinking. To optimize its effectiveness, improvements in digital literacy training and structured implementation strategies are necessary. Abstract

This study analyzes the application of the "Literary Review" (BS) learning model in improving students' understanding of culture and social values. This model is implemented using a collection of short stories Warna Merdeka Kala Korona as teaching materials in the Indonesian Language subject at SMAN 1 Banyuwangi City. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on 30 grade X students. Data were obtained through observation, analysis of student reflection documents, and class discussions. The results of the study indicate that the BS model improves students' understanding of social and cultural norms through exploration of literary works, contextual analysis, critical reflection, and application of values ​​in life. Students show active involvement, increased reading motivation, and higher social awareness. Although it requires more time and intensive mentoring, this model has proven effective in building students' characters who are empathetic, critical, and responsible.

Abstract

This research examines the cultural value of folklore related to the naming of Pacalan Village, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, which is related to the story of Ki Ageng Kembang Sore. As an influential ulama figure, Ki Ageng Kembang Sore is known for his contribution to the spread of Islam in this region, as well as his role in creating the cultural and social identity of the local community. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and ethnographic methods, this research explores the moral values, such as wisdom, courage and justice, contained in the story. Data collection is very dependent on the researcher's ability to understand the situation that is the focus of his research, obtained through in-depth interviews with community leaders and participatory observation, and supported by historical documentation. Analysis is carried out including reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. This research found that the Ki Ageng Kembang Sore folklore plays an important role for the people of Pacalan Village in understanding cultural values ​​such as religious values ​​and respect for ancestors, religious values ​​and traditional values ​​in celebrating their local culture and history, which supports the preservation of oral traditions in facing the challenges of modernization. Abstract

This research focuses on finding the values ​​of character education in the short story entitled “Gus Jakfar” by KH A. Mustofa Bisri through a sociological study of literature. The use of sociological literary studies is intended to analyze social interactions in short stories which produce exemplary values ​​in the form of character education. The method used is descriptive qualitative (QD) with data collection techniques using library research, where data is obtained from literature in the form of short stories, articles and books. Next, the data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman technique through three stages, namely "reduction, data presentation, and conclusions." The results obtained from this research found four values ​​of character education, including: religious, curious, friendly/communicative, and social care. In detail, there are three data on the value of religious character education in short stories, two data on the value of character education on curiosity, one data on the value of friendly/communicative character education, and one data on the value of character education in the form of social care.
