Abstract

The era of disruption marks significant changes in various aspects of life, including education. Da'wah through non-formal education (PNF), as one of the important pillars in character building and moral values, is faced with challenges to remain relevant and effective in delivering its da'wah. This journal aims to discuss effective da'wah strategies in PNF in the era of disruption. The methodology used in this research is a literature study by reviewing various scientific sources, such as journals, articles, and interviews as supporting data. The results showed that effective da'wah in PNF in the era of disruption is by utilizing information and communication technology such as social media to reach a wider audience and increase interactivity. However, this application needs to consider aspects of philosophical principles: principles related to the goals to be achieved in the da'wah process. Psychological principles: principles related to the human psyche, both da'i (preachers) and da'wah targets. Sociological principles: principles that discuss issues related to the situation and conditions of the target of da'wah, such as politics, society, and religion in the local area. With a compatible implementation strategy, PNF is able to become an institution that navigates the direction of da'wah to society, especially the younger generation.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are renowned for providing quality education and fostering character development, but they also face challenges in ensuring student well-being. This study explores how Lampung pesantren address student discomfort, a barrier to both academic and personal growth. Using in-depth interviews with administrators, supervisors, and psychologists from three institutions (Sabilil Muttaqin Tanggamus, Mathla'ul Anwar Lampung Selatan, and Al-Amin Central Lampung), this qualitative field research investigates efforts to improve student comfort. The research identifies two key strategies employed by the boarding schools to improve student comfort. Firstly, extensive verbal communication is prioritized. Mudabbirs provide daily support and guidance to students, fostering a sense of trust and openness in communication. Secondly, the schools actively engage with parents and guardians through regular monthly meetings, ensuring a collaborative approach to student development that encompasses both academic and non-academic aspects. Notably, the involvement of external psychologists is emerging as a successful practice. Psychologists conduct student assessments, enabling data-driven guidance tailored to individual needs. This addresses not only behavioral issues but also underlying psychological factors. This study sheds light on the proactive measures taken by Lampung Islamic boarding schools to prioritize student comfort. The findings highlight the importance of effective communication, parental involvement, and professional psychological support in fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment for students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the framing of da’wah messages on YouTube, focusing on leadership themes. Using a constructionist approach through Robert N. Entman's framing model, this study examines four elements: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and make treatment recommendations. The research analyzes four YouTube videos uploaded between September 2022 and September 2023, each having more than 1,000 views and containing leadership-themed da’wah content. The findings reveal that the da’wah messages are categorized into three types: faith-based messages (found in videos 1 and 3), sharia-based messages (found in videos 2 and 4), and moral-based messages (found in video 4). The framing analysis identifies consistent patterns in highlighting leadership aspects through four perspectives: defining leadership issues in religious contexts, identifying systemic causes of leadership problems, emphasizing moral judgments based on Islamic values, and recommending solutions that combine religious teachings with leadership practices. This study concludes that the da’wah messages frame leadership issues by presenting specific viewpoints to the public, emphasizing the importance of integrating Islamic principles in leadership while addressing current social and governmental concerns.

Abstract

Inter-religious communication is a process of dialogue between religions to find common ground between adherents of these religions, so that an understanding can be created to live in harmony and peace. This study aims to explain the Muslim and Christian communities in viewing differences, as well as the communication process of Muslim and Christian communities, as well as communication barriers that occur between the two. This research uses a qualitative approach to explore data in depth, with a snackball sampling technique in determining the subject, and data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed three main findings. First, Muslim and Christian communities uphold tolerance, respect each other in worship, although there are variations in attitudes such as fanaticism among Muslims. Second, interfaith communication begins with dialogue between religious leaders who teach tolerance, followed by community dialogue with open communication, empathy, and respect, including nonverbal messages such as facial expressions and touch. The communication process involves linear, secular, transactional and religious models. Third, communication barriers include attribution error, stereotyping, social prejudice, ethnocentrism, and value differences. This research contributes academically in studying interfaith communication as an effort to build tolerance between Muslim and Christian communities through dialogue and strengthening the value of diversity.
