Abstract

The aims of this study were to: ( 1) find out the substance of local history material in Indonesian history teaching materials used in SMA Surakarta; ( 2) Constructing the development of Indonesian history teaching materials based on local content; and ( 3) Testing the effectiveness of local content-based Indonesian history teaching materials using the Selecting, Organizing and Integrating (SOI) approach in history learning at class XI Surakarta Senior High School in increasing understanding of local history. To achieve these goals in this study used research and development methods or Research and Development (R&D). The R & D method is a research method used to produce certain products, and test the effectiveness of products. The R & D method is considered the most appropriate for this research problem. This research seeks to make products in the form of local content-based history teaching materials, as well as to test the effectiveness of using these teaching materials in learning Indonesian history according to the specified targets and criteria. This research was carried out in 4 stages , namely: (1) Exploration; (2) Model development; ( 3) Model testing; and (4) Dissemination . The results of the study show that : ( 1) The quality of Indonesian history teaching materials in high schools that have been used so far only includes material substance from basic competencies in the national curriculum. The existing teaching materials are based on a grid that has been developed in BSNP which emphasizes national political events, while local history materials have not been accommodated in teaching materials. Based on the KTSP rules, teachers can develop teaching materials according to the potential of their region. ( 2) Development of teaching materials by combining local history in the Surakarta area with existing materials and teaching materials based on the national curriculum starting from: (a) Preliminary study to determine needs; (b) Development of prototypes using the SOI. Local history material is selected from oral sources and artefact sources and integrated with national curriculum material so that teaching materials based on local content are structured; (c) An expert assessment is carried out on prototypes of teaching materials and other products developed including the instruments used to measure the effectiveness of teaching materials; (d) Limited tests and broad tests were carried out on instruments and products with a larger number of schools; and (e) Finalization. ( 3) From the results of the effectiveness test it is known that the use of local content-based history teaching materials can improve students' understanding of history in high school as evidenced by the results of the one-way ANOVA test between the experimental class and the control class . It is hoped that research will contribute to the development of history learning, especially in local history learning through the development of teaching materials. Teachers can use this research product as a reference in developing history teaching materials based on local content.

Abstract

This study investigates the communication obstacles that English language educators of multilingual classrooms experience in Delta State Nigeria. Research follows a descriptive survey design under Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) theory to study 180 lecturers working with English and Mass Communication departments in six Delta state tertiary institutions through structured questionnaires. Stratified random sampling allowed the investigation of perceived communication issues as well as the analysis of existing teaching methods and professional development workshop performance. The study discovered that instructors dealing with language differences experience major communication issues which affect their teaching performance. Workshops produce varied outcomes regarding their benefit to instructors because content delivery interacts with institutional backing as well as workshop design. The research shows that multilingualism creates major difficulties for English language education requiring better institutional backing. The implementation of peer collaboration and mentorship programs and multilingual resource-sharing systems should become part of the plan to provide teachers with effective teaching methods.

Abstract

Organic food is widely regarded as clean, healthy, and sustainable consumption and its demand is increasing globally daily because of the adverse health effects of inorganic food. Quantitative analysis of the factors of individual’s decisions to purchase organic food is lacking in the existing literature. By surveying 210 households from one southwestern district of Bangladesh, this study examines the influencing factors of purchasing organic food and explores policy implications. To find the impact of health consciousness, environmental consciousness, social influences, and attitudes on organic food purchase intention, this study employs confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The findings of structural equation modeling reveal that health consciousness, environmental consciousness, and social influences have a significant relationship with purchase intention. However, the mediating factor called attitude has no impact on the purchase decision of organic food. The findings of this study have substantial implications for marketers and policymakers.

Abstract

The increasing internet usage in Indonesia has brought both positive impacts and new challenges, including internet addiction in the workplace. Internet addiction is characterized by uncontrolled, excessive online behavior, which can reduce productivity, mental health, and social functioning. This study examines internet addiction among formal workers through psychological, sociological, and anthropological perspectives. Psychologically, internet addiction is linked to low self-control, emotional distress, and sensation-seeking behavior. Sociologically, it reflects changing social norms and the human need to stay connected. Anthropologically, it highlights cultural shifts toward virtual interactions. A mixed-methods approach is used, combining qualitative exploration of subjective experiences with quantitative analysis to identify behavioral patterns using machine learning. This research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the individual, social, and cultural dimensions of internet addiction, emphasizing its significance in affecting daily life, mental health, and work performance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the visual storytelling strategy implemented in the Ujung Jalan segment of the Masrang YouTube channel. Using an organizational communication framework, the research explores how creative processes and communication decisions are shaped through interactions between the channel’s creator and two collaborators involved in content production. Employing a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, the findings reveal that the use of quiet, slow-paced, and narration-free visuals is a deliberate strategy designed to differentiate Masrang from typical travel vlogs. This strategy goes beyond delivering information; it also creates a reflective emotional space for the audience. The results show that Masrang operates through a collaborative communication model resembling a micro-organizational structure, where content is developed through idea exchange, role coordination, and shared objectives. As such, Masrang serves as an example of how organizational communication can be applied within independent content creation rooted in a creative community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Indonesia's climate diplomacy in an effort to address global climate change from 2015 to 2023. The method used is a literature study and document analysis from various sources, including government reports, scientific journals, and policy documents related to climate diplomacy. The results of the study show that Indonesia has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), with a target of reducing emissions by 31.89% independently and 43.20% with international assistance. Indonesia's climate diplomacy integrates domestic and global interests, and involves various initiatives such as the REDD+ scheme and the Climate Village (ProKlim) program that encourages community participation. Although there has been progress in mitigation and adaptation, challenges such as the conflict between economic development and environmental conservation remain obstacles. The conclusion of this study confirms that Indonesia's climate diplomacy not only contributes to reducing emissions, but also has the potential to be a model for other countries in facing the challenges of global climate change. With an inclusive approach and strong commitment, Indonesia can create a new narrative on climate justice and sustainability at the international level.
