Abstract

Background: The low level of public understanding about tuberculosis (21.9%) and the limited implementation of home ventilation as a preventive measure (31.3%) prompted the launch of the “SEHATI LESTARI” program, which focuses on strengthening health cadres to create a tuberculosis-free community. Objective: This activity aimed to increase community knowledge about TB prevention, promote the adoption of healthy behaviors, and empower health cadres as agents of change at the community level. Method: The program, conducted from 16 September to 15 October 2024 with 32 participants in Tunge Village, combined interactive lectures, simulations, and field audits to ensure a comprehensive understanding. Results: Post-activity evaluations demonstrated significant improvements: participants’ knowledge of TB increased from 21.9% to 71.9%, the adoption of home ventilation practices rose from 31.3% to 68.8%, and 32 trained health cadres were successfully established. Conclusion: This community-based empowerment program through health cadres proved effective in improving knowledge and behavior related to TB prevention. To ensure program sustainability, it is recommended to establish a monthly cadre forum facilitated by the community health center (Puskesmas), integrate the TB education module into routine Posyandu activities, and develop adaptable intervention designs for other agricultural areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent females, which can have long-term impacts on reproductive health, cognitive performance, and productivity. Low levels of knowledge are among the key factors contributing to the high prevalence of anemia in this age group. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of health promotion activities on improving knowledge about anemia among female students at Universitas Airlangga who reside in the women’s dormitory. Method: This study employed a pre-test and post-test design involving 47 female students selected through accidental sampling. The health promotion activity was conducted offline, followed by pre- and post-test questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to examine differences in knowledge scores before and after the intervention. Results: There was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores (p = 0.000). A total of 28 respondents demonstrated an increase in scores, with an average improvement of 19.48 points. Conclusion: Health promotion through socialization activities was effective in enhancing knowledge about anemia among adolescent girls. This educational approach holds strong potential for wider implementation, particularly by involving students as peer educators to strengthen their role as agents of change in anemia prevention.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a hematological disorder characterized by a reduced erythrocyte count or hemoglobin concentration, resulting in a decreased oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. Adolescent females, especially those living in suburban areas, are at a high risk of developing anemia. The Kalibawang Subdistrict in Kulon Progo Regency has been reported to have the highest distribution rate of iron (Fe) tablets. However, many adolescent females in the area still demonstrate limited knowledge about anemia. Moreover, they have never consumed or received iron tablets from local community health centers. Objective: This activity aimed to enhance knowledge about anemia and promote adherence to iron supplementation among adolescent females. Method: The methods employed in this community service program included health education sessions and blood pressure screenings conducted among female students at SMK 1 Kalibawang. The activity was evaluated using questionnaires administered before and after the intervention. Results: The findings revealed an increase in the average knowledge scores related to anemia among the participants after the health education intervention, indicating its effectiveness in improving understanding of the topic. Notably, none of the eleven participants showed a decrease in their scores from the pre-test to the post-test. Conclusion: Overall, the adolescent females demonstrated adequate knowledge regarding anemia following the intervention. It is recommended that the school establish collaboration with the Kalibawang Community Health Center to facilitate the free provision of iron tablets and ensure regular monitoring of their consumption.

Abstract

Background: Organic-fertilizer MSMEs in Karangwaru, Sragen, have clear growth prospects but remain competitively fragile due to weak branding, rudimentary packaging, and limited use of digital channels. Unlike the well-studied output side (FMCG/post-harvest), input-side branding for farm supplies is under-addressed, thus constraining market access. Objective: This community service program aims to build branding capability through coherent visual identity systems, market-ready packaging with compliant labels, trademark preparation, and actionable digital marketing routines. Method: A participatory design anchored in baseline diagnostics, intensive workshops, and three months of mentored implementation. Activities blended experiential learning (logo/packaging co-creation and supplier briefs), practice with social media and e-commerce, and clinic-style coaching to institutionalize internal branding routines. Results: Capability and performance improved. Leads +75%; conversion 2%—3.5%; retention 60%—78%; brand awareness +40%. Triangulated qualitative evidence (owners/retail partners, field notes, shelf audits) indicates better market positioning—stronger on-shelf salience, more buyer inquiries, and heightened perceived quality due to clearer, compliant information architecture. Conclusion: Emphasizing packaging and capability building yielded measurable market benefits for rural input-side MSMEs and laid a more stable foundation for sustained competitiveness.
